You can just try solo'ing Gold until you get better at it. That's how I learned. I wiped a bajillion times, but it definitely helped a LOT.

That's a possible route, sure. I prefer the "play silver until it's easy" route. Soon as you can complete silver with relative ease and have your best character up to lvl.20, I'd say Gold is worth a shot. Best idea on your first Gold run, though, is to stick back and play support, rather than running out and trying to rambo. Watch what other people do and learn.

I wouldn't kick someone for the sake of them simply not having experience in gold yet. I'd kick them if they clearly haven't put any effort in to bronze and silver first. And that's what the problem is.. people signing up for gold with avengers, weapon load outs that aren't suited for their class, not knowing how to play with their team mates, and this all stuff you can learn from forums, videos and silver matches.
You do NOT need to jump straight into gold to learn basics like this, yet it seems to be completely oblivious to them.
And as for the people taking games too seriously comment. Gold is more experienced and dedicated players.
If players are more casual, then they have no reason to not enjoy silver equally as much.

It is you who would like to impose some restriction, so it is you who should stick to private matches. You have no right or ability to stop newbies/bad players etc from playing Gold, but its perfectly within your ability to stop them from playing with you - there, problem solved.

I agree with the notion that a player that's not ready, shouldn't be playing gold. Players who die dozens of times for nothing, or players that do weird things (like trying to take down the map with Biotic Charges, or Krobuttin' everything) are definitely unqualified. And since it is a cooperative game, players who don't work with the team should be unqualified as well (like everyone being bunkered while one player goes around trying to find some adventure or adepts that never ever detonate other biotic events).

And it's definitely annoying to lose several matches in a round because of a failed teamwork. But, all this has to come in a polite way, and if I don't like what I see, I leave, even though sometimes it can take me quite a while to find a decent match. Gold can be relatively easy won depending on the map and enemies chosen, and the quality of teamwork. No teamwork is a definite failure.

And since it seems everyone will call dicks all those who prefer to play victories instead of uncertain matches or definite failures, the only solution is to power communication and teamwork, and see if quality raises, but people shouldn't expect unlimited patience either, and should see when they've clearly failed. Me, whenever I see I screwed up bigtime (e.g. by playing a character I'm not too good at), I leave, voluntarily, no need to keep being the loose end.

And I don't consider myself elitist or anything like that, I don't think I'm good either since I've been playing gold for like 4 weeks (maybe having an 85% of success) I think but only farming FBW against the Geth, so it's quite possible I suck at other maps or enemies. But for me, it's always about the teamwork. If the team is solid, we'll win. Otherwise, we lose. Simple as that. That's how I learned my way in FBW. I observed where people went, what they did, and imitated their actions, same that when I learned about the workings of biotic explosions, or when I read the forums advising that I first did silver before gold, and a lot of bronze before silver.

If everyone is nice, and we don't lose our tempers so easily, things will go just fine, eventually.

I appreciate there are people on this forum that dedicate themselves to helping poor players in gold matches. But i dont see why the rest of us should have to put up with the constant slew of uncapable players that are pouring into gold all the time, and not just during operation weekends.

There isnt a system in place for stopping people with low N7s or low level characters playing gold, which is fine. There are plently of good players who level up their characters in gold, if they know they can handle it theres nothing wrong with that. 
But people who dont have the experience or skill are still playing gold all the time. Its partly FBWGGs fault, partly the unlock systems fault, and party the fault of people ensuring poor players can play gold if they "keep practicing".
Practice in silver until youre ready for gold and stop making our gold games more of a pain in the arse than they have to be.

So, just to recap.

Please stay out of gold if you dont have the experience and skill to contribute to the teams effort.


If youre a good player, please stop telling poor players to give gold a go. If you really want to train them up then play a private game.

your not an elite, you're a no talent counter hugger who uses all his medigels (shows in manifest) because you cannot surrive a gold wave and your N7 is so low it shows you have no skill with low level characters, thats where the better players are, guys using lvl 10+ on gold and winning

life is not about winning, if a player leaves his counter hugging team mates to try something a little harder so be it, I like when they do this, I will sit behind my counter (even I do it now and then but I still get out and move more then most) and watch them die and wait for the comming hoard and loose on lvl 8 or 9.

For me, you get kicked for being a c*ck, not for lack of game knowledge.  Because if I want people with skill, I make a private lobby and add my friends.  Simple.
