My mage is Nyruk, but other mage names that may be nice:
Magus/Arcanus (nothing like being named after what you are!)
Freia (you're a goddess, why not show off?)
Loki (you're a cunning god, start your own Ragnarok!)
Ringil (sword from Tolkien, also means Rin=Brilliant and Gil=Star, I think)
Morgul (more from Tolkien, Mor=Dark and Gul=Sorcery)
Maerlyn (Merlin...)
eh... too lazy to think of creative stuff...

Mine's is Elerith. I usually just smash my hand on the keyboard to come up with a name. This time the first letter was an 'E' and it went from there.

I never take "famous" names from other fiction or lore, if I can avoid it. Making up names is one of the most fun part of character creation. I love creating names!
Often I try to make a name that somehow reflects the character too.
Some female names I can remember from my past games are:
Calypta (death and/or fire mage)
Necrotia (death mage)
Dedreisa (cleric. The name is inspired by "dead raiser", something that you could call a cleric that is in fact raising dead
)
And from my current game in NWN2:SoZ I have these ladies in my party: Elewerwin, Lilandra, Meriam and Calandra.
My first (female) character in DA:O will be Eleena.
Did I mention I love creating names?

I chose Aeodgahn for the name of my mage. It's a Celtic name that means "Little fire."

Death is the name of my character. It's from that english word. Simple, yet makes the Darkspawn **** their armor.

Mordak for a mage, Gardakan for a fighter and of course Boba Fett for a rogue.

Jaeger Amell. So named from my screen name, which comes from some Jager bombs me and some mates had on a night out when I was a student (a shot of Jagermeister physically placed in a glass, shotglass and all, topped up with Red Bull, and downed in one... messes you up....
)

When I made my dwarf to represent me as my forum portrait, he came with the default 1st name Duran. I like it, but to each their own.
Isn't Duran a brand of condom? Or was?

Good choice. Love that book.
I named my female mage Ananya, which means one-of-a-kind, unique.

Sometimes I reuse names, butI usually make up a new name for every new character. My first run through the game was with an elf mage whom I named Yllene.
One name I used before (in NWN) for a male mage, which I liked a lot (and may use again at some other time) is Necruss Mortense.
