This is hard!

It's not.  People are just lazy and don't actively control the entire party and then expect the AI to do everything for them.

The game is hard until you learn the 'tricks', or start to understand the game mechanics more. Improve your character builds, item selections, make lots of potions, use them sensibly, improve your in-combat tactics, use the right spells at the right time.

Once you learn those tricks, the differences between the difficulty settings becomes fairly negligible. That's really the main problem with difficulty in the game. The only hard part is the learning curve. Once you figure it all out, there's not enough of a difference between Normal and Nightmare.

This is why the forums seem a little schizophrenic with lots of 'this game is too easy!' and 'this game is too hard!' posts right next to one another.

Well thanks for the positive replies guys, I guess my mistake was going to the Forest first. I'm heading to Redcliffe now and going to try to fix my talents and what not, get some more CC spells.
