Took some tries for me as well. Had a kroguard running around getting himself killed at the other end of the map (often perma-killed by atlases or banshees) and then he finally quit, possibly because we weren't able to revive him. He was leading after 3 rounds still but quickly fell to the bottom after the going got a bit tougher. Also was kicked out of the lobby quite a few times, perhaps because of not having my mic on (xbox), or because of my 135 N7 rating (EDIT: or my Mantis X on a Salarian inf).
But, once I ended up with a pretty good team (people stuck together and generally knew their business as good as anyone) we got full extraction without much hassle. I'm not a great player myself (would never be able to solo gold), but I can handle myself on gold if I don't have carry someone else. Always feels good to get a full extraction.
Some ppl are boot crazy. I try to only boot those who are quite rude to everyone. I don't care about what character class/race/weapon you use or character lvl or n7 rank though a 10 or higher lvl character is a great idea in gold, (have however beaten a gold with all four with characters ranked lower than 10 so it is possible but quite hard). But if the group and game are enjoyable then I am fine. Btw even with over an 800 rank you come across jerks on xbox that boot cuz of n7 rank. Either because it's too high or too low been booted for both.
