You have a problem with not seeing women nude in a video game.

It's strange that you provide a direct quote that does not support what you read from it.

You are saying that this game isn't actually an adult game because the characters are clothed during the small scene that involves sex

I did not say that.

And I quote "Bioware promised an adult game and they give us these very blatant
kid-safety harnesses that just make you think "that's there because
somebody isn't supposed to see...".  I find this more offensive than
seeing a naked body, since they are passing judgement and deeming
me not fit to see it, AFTER deeming me fit to see decapitations and
child-slaying."

You have a problem with not seeing women nude in a video game.

In the original poster's defence, I got the impression he thought the men should be naked as well. Equal opportunity nakedness ;-)

Maybe lol..but I don't know if a guy wants to a see another guy's private area...plus he was always talking about the women...the succubus, Lady of the Forest....etc

I swear I think the forums take on some weird hate agenda. Yesterday it was this game was too easy and how mages need to be nerfed. The day before that was people hating that gay people actually exist. Now it's why aren't there bewbs? Is tomorrow going to continue the cycle or are we bound for a continuation?

The reason why it was cut is probably due to the fact that Bioware like any company does need money, not everyone wants to see nudity. I hear it takes your souls, true story. It's completely hypocritical but that's not the point. Bewbs = bad, Decapitation = quality wholesome family entertainment. This is also different depending on which country you're in. If you really want to see it, use the toolset. If not, move on.

I'm in the UK and God of War had naked breasts in it.  Versions in other countries gave the ladies a bra (possibly including US, not sure).  So they could, I assume, have compromised the game only when the censorship of a particular country demanded it.

That might have been ideal, yes. The Witcher was the same, the german version had naked cleavage on ladies, the american version had it covered up.

The Witchers adult cards whenever you score are hilarious too though, nekkid boobies or no. I nearly wet myself laughing at the one featuring a witch and her, erm, cat which was placed in a strategic yet appropriate place.

Personally I feel that in both cases the "Adult" comes from the grey area choices you make in both games as oppose to whether you see digital boob in the game or not. Doesn't bother me either way particuarly, other than when it comes across more as teenage fanfic rather than genuine adult content (see God for War for details, and the Witcher unfortunately, and our own omnisexual elf assassin, although he comes across more as having escaped from Torchwood than the mind of a horny teenager).

Nudity is not the definition of adult in this context, by any means.

It's not, but depending on the country nudity is to be ignored or covered up regardless of the context. It doesn't matter what game you play, very, very few in America at least actually show nudity. Ironically in the same game you see more decapitated heads, removed limbs and wanton destruction but that's fine. That's "mature".

I didn't say you, I meant people commenting. People saying they want nudity in the game are viewed as perverted/depraved individuals who are lonely and live in their mothers basements. Yet, who here actually has sex while wearing clothes, really? Where as people who are saying nudity is bad are viewed as hypocritical because they're playing a game with endless killing, betrayal, child killing/possession, promiscuity, **** houses, demons that are not fond of bras. Etc...either way you can't win, and it's just silly.

I doubt even if i had patched version and  archers and thing are harder would make a difference with me being able to kill them I would still find way round them.

Can't speak for anywhere else, but the UK version's "18" rating lists the reason as "contains strong, bloody violence." so they clearly reckoned it warranted an adult rating with or without the sexual elements. Tbh i don't think the changes that the OP mentioned have made much differance. Some stuff became unintentionaly funny, but I don't see what's so titilating about polygonal breasts to begin with...

I disagree that this game is for adults. Its for 17 year olds at best. Just because it has some mild raw violence, some blood stains on the characters and some bikini scenes does not make it an adult game. Adult games are found in its themes and complexity of the story, language used, visual impact and general atmosphere.

Deus eX (the first of course) is far more adult and mature game than something like DAO or Soldier of Fortune or some other brainless ****** game (not that DAO is a brainless ****** game) that thinks it is mature because of some spilt blood and a few busted heads.

The witcher is far more mature game in everything it does. Themes, gameplay, atmosphere and it does it far more realistically and believably than DAO. DAO is just passable at best in this respect.

Am I the only one who gets amused every time I see someone complaining about the lack of nude boobs in a video game?

There are plenty of nekkid bodies on the internet. Just print out a couple and keep them close by when playing. Then you can see the nudity you seem to need while playing a video game. ;)

I don't see why people don't get it.  Obviously one does not get aroused by the polygons, they aren't visible.  The days when Lara Croft's ass looks like a box are over.

I notice comments saying that if you are at all interested in seeing nudity that is just a computer-generated image then you are somehow weird, and it is looked down upon as a "bunch of pixels".  Well, first of all technically anything you view on a screen is pixels, even if you're looking at real-life actors.  Before photography people used to view paintings and such that recreated the naked body for stimulation purposes; they didn't consciously think "this looks like ink and paper"--if you thought like that you couldn't feel emotion toward a  painting of any sort, not just the pornographic.  It's perfectly normal and sometimes preferable to looking at a real person.  Real people have imperfections physically and mentally.  With a representation of a person you can think what you please and be right.  Sometimes it's nice for a change of pace.  I think the people who try to put this down are insecure rather than failing to understand it (not that I think this applies to the person I'm responding to, it just made me think of the subject).

It's not a big deal for me. Though it does seem a bit inconsistent on Bioware's part. They could've always done it like in Mass Effect, though I imagine there were problems with animations when sex took place between a dwarf and a human... so that might have been the case as well

*shudders*

That was so, so bad. I hope there'll be a mod that at least strips them down to their underwear, and then the standard nude mod takes care of the rest. It just looks stupid the way it is now.

Personally... do I want to? No, not really.

But do I really mind? No, not if the alternative breaks my suspension of disbelief for the game.

Well, if there were male Desire Demons or "Lords of the Forest" running around with their genitalia just barely covered up in an awkward fashion, then I'm sure he might have made some mention of them too.

People need to relax more about nudity. In game reviews you most often hear how pathetic it is with sexual content in a game, whenever the topic arises. Yet when you read a book the characters in it may have sex at some point. They aren't real people either, are sexy novels pathetic too?

I personally thought the sex scenes in DAO were awkward (the romance dialogue is great though!). Mainly thanks to the bikinis being worn in them, but also because the characters look pretty stiff and not entirely convincing outside of combat. EVEN with these problems, things are moving forward. We might actually one day get to play games that aren't even a bit intended for children (or religious people). Nudity and sex is just a small part of the progression. ALLOW GAMES TO BE ALL THEY CAN BE.

I begin to fill my time between my second or third playthrough of DA:O and ME2 with The Witcher, which I have skipped until now. I wonder why, but I intend to change that. :))

Actually I can live with no nudity, but uncut violence (even though I still wonder where the heads of my decapitated enemies go) is something I definately want to see without being censored.

Reason is simple: I think it is easier to download some boobie-patch than to fix a crippled version to meet the strict requirements of Germany's age ratings combined with the ambition of trying to making a game compatible to a 16 year old audience in many cases.

Keep up making games for 18+, please. Add boobs at my convenience or not (don't need it to enjoy a game, even though it seems a bit funny to have sex with clothes on), but don't cripple the gameplay by turning the blood off or anything similar.

I only romanced Morigan, so I don't know about the others, but I actually didn't mind the sex scene or found it funny. I heard people arguing about it weeks before I actually tapped that ****, and the scene to me just looked like a prelude to the good stuff. It didn't seem like they were actually having sex, just rubbing up on eachother before fade to black where your imagination is supposed to kick in.

So in all honesty the scene did not really seem all that out of place to me. It actually felt natural despite what I had previously read, and despite what people on this thread are saying too. Maybe I'm just lucky, though. I'm in a very healthy relationship and we love the **** out of eachother more frequently than most couples our age we know. And this is after 6 years of being together, so it isn't new fire or anything.
Could be that seeing as I'm 100% sexually satisfied and can get my hands on a piece of naked **** any time I want, bra and panties instead of a birthday suit doesn't strike me as out of place, and is actually kind of refreshing.

I think it's pretty clear that DAO was going to be an adult game even without sex or nudity. As far as I know that is the highest rating you can get, which means that once you have it you can pretty much do anything you want. The real question for me then is why BioWare elected to go the clearly less realistic route of covering up all nudity? Don't get me wrong, I think a game without nudity would have been fine, but then just change the things that pretty much require it. You don't *need* to have desire demons or forest ladies with all their parts showing... Don't want to show boobs in the sex scene? Put the camera behind the woman and above the waist. That would have been better IMO.

The way it is, I don't see why they couldn't have put in the nudity in an already adult game. Sex and nudity are normal, everyday things for adults, so why would that be a big deal?

Psst. There are mods that fix that, now. GOOD mods (not just retextured bras).
