You're very fixated on this whole "machine" thing.

What if I scooped your brain out and stuck it in a robot body.  Would you no longer be a "person"?  Should I then consider you no more alive or important than a toaster?

But I still have a real organic brain then don't I? ;)

So that's enough to make you a person?

I guess you could do that fo Chrillze.

Sorry that I'm being so on-topic. Here, have a spiderpony.

Yeah because I wasn't a created machine in the first place, and I would have an organic real brain

I'm really liking the Spider-Men and ponies and spiderponies, by the way.  Keep up the good work!

So being a person is all about having an organic brain?  That's what it comes down to?

So your personal definition of a "person" would be "anything whatsoever as long as it had an organic brain"?

What is "alive"?

1. it has to be composed of cells and 2. it has to be able reproduce. the Geth are not composed of cells and they can't reproduce

So if I made a robot from the ground up based on cells and able to reproduce, it would meet all your criteria for being "alive" and therefore capable of being a "person"?

It's hardly impossible.  We're nearly at the point of being able to create usable organic computers and machines today - never mind 100 years from now.

Do a little research.  Get yourself some learnin'.

It just happens to be far easier (and, so far, more useful) to create machines and computers using silcon and metal.

Cell are small living unit so build your robots out of nanites and you have a cell based robot.

if it's made out of cells and can repoduce I wouldn't call it a machine

Did you parhaps hear about how we've been able to create synthetic RNA strands that reproduce?

Nanites.
Synthetic cells.
Doesn't matter, don't weasel your way out of this one. Actually, while you're at it, you could answer this one, too:

Let me interject for just a moment, that definition is extremely dated considering ME is X number of hundreds of years in the future with alien races galor, using that definition to fit every alien race just will not work at all, biology standards are going to be challenged and so are moral and philisophical views.
But the geth fit both of those standards, when you shoot them they "bleed" (And check out their arms, muscle tissue right there), and they can create new run times, thus fitting the reproduction.

Really?  So it could be completely man-made, in a lab, from the ground-up, and designed to - I don't know - stack boxes, but you wouldn't call it a machine?

Now we just switched sides in the argument!
