Ironic that you quit right after someone called you out on your ******-poor argument.  I saw a myriad of posts that proved you wrong, but then you answered said posts with the aforementioned logic.

Stop trying to pretend your only goal was not to get a rise out of the people at BSN.  Seriously, even if you were to defend your logic and the inception of said logic until the end of time, you are damned if you do, and damned if you don't.  You have already established yourself as either a terrible troll, or a profound retard.

This is pretty much an issue of differing perspectives. The OP basically implies that life can only exist if it stems from a biological cause. Of course, Bees or Ants can be argued to be a biologically inferior model of the Geth hive mind. Those little insect queens are essentially little baby bug manufactoriums.

Which therefore asks, is the OP's complaint about the sanctity of Geth as Life because they are manufactured? If there was an insectoid species that was organized around a hive mind and made decisions by consensus, like the Geth in every way save that they bleed and Geth can malfunction, would either one qualify as life?

If no, what is the defining characteristic of life?

A hive mind can be sentient. A hive mind can direct its will and have desires.

Mostly, the OP just sounds afraid of the idea that life may have a wider definition.

Do not insult greater men than you.  Every man has a fear--even ignorant ones.  In your case you are either too afraid or too stupid to acknowledge that life (and therefore a soul) may come into being in more than one way.
