To your first point technically you can, although not with current technology.
Frankenstein was the doctor, and even so did you not grasp the concept of the story, or are you simply using it to make a point without reading the book?
Frankensteins monster is not infact a monster but rather the most humane character. The humans in that story do however act in cruel manner towards the creature out of fear, ultimatly turning him into a "monster". Realising what he has become the creature destroys himself.
The very point of that book is that although born different the creature is not a monster but is created one because of peoples irrational prejudice agaisnt it.
If your position for not valuing synthetic life is you can build more, guess what you can build more humans. Millions die every year and millions more are born, does that mean we should value human life less?
The dad argument is silly because im not gunna care as much when some one i barely know dies as to when my dad died, because he was my dad. Of course you not going to care about your computer because its not sentient.
If however you where raised by a sentient synthetic and he was your foster father he did everything and more an normal dad did, he raised you, taught you and kept you safe. If he was then to die would you not care at all? He did everything exactly the same as a normal dad the only difference was the materials he was made of, because if you dont care then the only reason you would for an organic dad is that he happened to by made of meat and bone.
As to your second point it belies what really motivates your position, you dont care about sentient nor a creatures worth your simply afraid that they might get you. The same argument has been used throughout history, white slave owners used to prevent black people from gaining any sort of education because they feared they might make start making informed choices for themselves, one of which could be to take revenge on those who enslaved them.
Guess how you stop that from happening, when a machine gains sentience stop using it as a slave and allow it to make its own decisions.
If the turians never existed saren would not have helped sovereign and the galaxy would have been a lot safer, does that mean they dont have the right to exist?
I understand your position and why you came to it, you see the possible consiquences to our actions to big to allow sentient machines to exist in the first place. The fact you dont understand ours speaks volumes, fear is dictating your thoughts thats why you cant understand our position. If it wasnt you might still hold the same opinion but you would be able to see our side of the argument.
