Can anyone tell me the DC for persuading characters like Ajuur in the Upper Cantina or Zax in the Bounty Office for more credits?
Right now I'm trying to persuade Ajuur to give me more credits for killing Bendak Starkiller, with only a 2 in Persuasion (no hard points, it's from my +2 Charisma modifier). I know it's not impossible because I had a previous character succeed with a total Persuasion of 4 ( 2 hard points plus Charisma +2 modifier).
I've heard the DC increases with PC level, don't know if that's true or not, my character is at level 5 where he will stay until he becomes a Jedi.
Since I'm playing on the Xbox version, the feedback section of my journal does not state the DC of the Persuasion check, only showing the dialogue and the failed persuasion attempt.
Any PC players out there that can help me with this?

what class are you? Also you can't use any skills unless you put hard points within that skill.
Viede, it is not worth it to have Persuasion high with early levels.

Scout, and I was able to persuade Dia earlier in my game on the second try, again without any hard points, just a 2 from my 14 in Charisma.
If what you say is true about needing hard points to use a skill, then does that mean the game still rolls anyway, like with Dia? Not saying you're wrong, just that since I expect her DC to be low, but the game gives you a roll regardless of hard points, then a roll by itself might still be enough to succeed, and explain how I succeeded despite not having any points in Persuade.
On the other hand, if you're wrong about needing hard points to use a skill, I'm back to my original question: can anyone tell me what I need to roll to persuade Ajuur?

You need hard points for some skills to work (like demolition), but not for persuasion.
Dia is easy to persuade as is the bounty guy.
As to the actual numbers, I've never bothered to fond out. Then again, I usually put quite a few points to persuasion.

Huts are sometimes a little different and hard to do that with when it comes to money

The Persuade rolls are not based on the normal d20; it *used* to be that way (judging by the comments in scripts), but it was changed somewhere before the last patch.
Most Persuade rolls in the game are categorized into 3 classes: Easy, Medium and Hard (user-friendly, eh?). To see which dialog lines use which, use KOTOR Tool and/or DLGEditor ( http://www.starwarsk...s.com/tools.php ); these tools let you navigate the dialogue trees and see which scripts are attached:
1) Easy persuade should have k_con_perseasy;
2) Medium persuade should have k_con_persmed;
3) Hard persuade should have k_con_pershigh.
All of these scripts call the same function:
AutoDC(x, SKILL_PERSUADE, GetPCSpeaker());
where x is 0 for Easy, 1 for Medium and 2 for Hard. Looking through the source code for this function, we can now deduce the mechanics.
The Persuade chance is based on the ratio of your Persuade skill (including bonuses) to your total character level + 5; the higher this ratio, the better. Thus, if you level up but don't continue to invest in Persuade, you gradually lose this ability. So, contrary to what's been stated here, Persuade skill is most useful at lower character levels.
1) If your ratio is 0.25 or less, an Easy persuade has a 40% chance to succeed. Medium and Hard persuades will never succeed.
2) If your ratio is between 0.25 and 0.5, Easy persuade will succeed in 50% of the time, Medium persuade will succeed in 25% of the time, Hard persuade will never succeed.
3) If your ratio is between 0.5 and 0.75, Easy persuade will succeed 75% of the time, Medium persuade will succeed 50% of the time, Hard persuade will succeed 25% of the time.
4) If your ratio is between 0.75 and 1, Easy and Medium persuades always succeed, Hard persuade will succeed 75% of the time.
5) If your ratio is greater than 1, Easy, Medium and Hard persuades will always succeed.
Now let's apply this to your particular case. Your Persuade skill rank is 2, your character level is 5, so your Persuade ratio is 2 / (5 + 5) = 0.2; thus, you cannot succeed Medium or Hard persuades. Checking the dialogues, we see that to have Zax give you more money for bounties, you need to succeed a Medium persuade, and the same goes with Ajuur.
Thus, you need one extra point in Persuade (your persuade ratio then becomes 3 / (5 + 5) = 0.3 > 0.25) to have a 25% chance of succeeding those Medium persuades. Of course, you can't invest that point unless you level. Since you don't want to level, see instead if you can teach Bastila some Force powers to give you a temporary Charisma bonus (you get +1 Persuade for every 2 points in Charisma). There are also items that grant additional Charisma, but I don't recall any that early in the game.
Even then it's only a 25% chance, and with those Hutt persuades you only get one shot (if I recall), so you'll likely have to save/reload.

Thank you! Your explanation on Persuasion mechanics was perfect, and it definitely explains why my Persuade attempts always failed.
Another shining example of the many perks PC gaming has over consoles, I could never have discovered any of this on my own. Ah well.
Once again, kudos to you!
