Yup, everything was bad, like Tuchanka, or even worse still, Rannoch!

Rannoch was terrible, Tuchanka was the only good part of the entire story.

That awkward moment when you realize that someone disagrees with you. That awkward moment when someone realizes that maybe ones own opinion not necessarily is true, and that maybe oneself can't deal with other people having different opinions on what is good or not. That awkward moment when one maybe should think about one's stance on the interpretations of the same thing by different people.

Except it's not really an opinion as much as bad writing...The entire idea that the quarians would attack the Geth knowing they are going to lose during a proven Reaper invasion is idiotic. Not seeing that jst makes you blinded by fanboyism or ignorance, either way not a battle you want to be on the side of.

And ultimately, it culminates in to one person saying it's bad writing. Yup, no argument here, just bad writing!

Wow, I might as well just say that the universe is a result of bad writing. That doesn't make it true.

The hell are you talking about? Even if the IT is true (which it isn't, lol) it is still a victim of horrendous writing.

You say that the IT isn't true, and you're 100% certain of that. You have made that perfectly clear.

Have you never heard the saying "only a fool is absolutely certain of himself"?

Both of those theories has substantial material to support them. Scientific material. Gravity can - by the way - be directly proven by letting an apple slip from your hand. That is a direct proof of gravity. You have no such things with IT. It is make-believe.

that reminds me of an old book i once read where the opponent in a discussion on whether the theory of evolution was true by using the same arguement you did.

"Gravity can be directly proven by letting an apple slip from your hand. That is a direct proof of gravity. You have no such things with evolution. It is make-believe."

Well it is. Does not change that evolution has substantial scientific material that makes it a viable theory. I like the idea of evolution but that's all it is - but at least it takes basis in science compared to a lot of other nonsense.

exactly my point, IT such as evolution are both theories, and both have been supported with valid points as well as nonsense, evolution with historical records and DNA along with some wild claims that could make you anti-evolution if you heard it all, IT with lore precedents and plot points along with wild claims on some poor textures meaning something for IT.

I like IT, but I don't go trying to wake the "so we can't get the ending we want" thread up. I stick to the IT topics ONLY if I want to talk about IT.

I haven't seen many (if any) pro-IT people that do this anyway, unless I'm looking in the wrong places.

No, because if IT turns out to be true, I'm going to take pleasure in knowing we were all headf*cked.

Bioware sells uncomplete game and fans rejoice.

How sad.

As opposed to the Pro-enders, rejoicing over an unfinished game now?Image IPB

Yeah get real.Image IPB

Are you suggesting that I am satisfied with the current ending?

Sorry man, the Cult of Indoctrination Theory believes that the entire world is separated into two groups:  those who accept the divine truth of IT and those who love the current endings.

Those of us who think both the endings and IT are garbage do not factor into their thinking.

Not all of us believe in black-and-white thinking like this. You should put down your brush because it's foolish to paint everyone who believes I.T. is plausible with the same brush of a cult member, religious zealot, or conspiracy nut. By attacking the people posing the hypothesis rather than the hypothesis itself, you use ad hominem and automatically lose all credibility as someone with the intelligence to analyze both ends of the spectrum of debate..

What I'm commenting on is the IT theorists who hijack threads, shove their opinion in everyone's face, and refuse to accept that their opinion could possibly be wrong.

I'm sorry if it looks like black & white thinking, but I have been on these forums quite a bit and have almost never seen an IT theorist who doesn't fit that description.

Step 1:  A thread is started discussing a single one of the many plot-holes in ME3.

Step 2:  IT cultist spam posts:

"Everything is explained here:"
youtubelink
youtubelink
youtubelink
youtubelink
youtubelink
youtubelink
youtubelink

Step 3:  Someone inevitably challenges the logic of the IT cultist.

Step 4:  IT cultist posts incessantly in defense of his "logic" until the wee hours of the night, ultimately hijacking the thread.

Step 5:  The thread is now about IT.

Well, I'm trying to debate you civilly about the subject and cannot be blamed for, nor can I control, the actions of those who hold similar views to mine. You would do well to treat others on a case-by-case basis as I am trying to do with you.

I have tried debate IT with people civilly.  I have spent hours on it, presenting counterpoint after counterpoint to every picture, argument, and contention put forward.

But it never goes anywhere.  Because there are no conditions under which the theory can be disproven - the person I'm debating with ultimately just starts arguing in circles, claiming that I "don't get it," or claiming that my arguments are simply further proof of IT and that I have simply been "indoctrinated" as part of the meta-gaming experience that Bioware so brilliantly created.

Frankly, IT theorists themselves have taken away my motivation to argue the theory on its merits because they have made it clear that doing so would be like talking to a brick wall.

Well, if you feel that way, you should maybe take a break from discussing it and discuss other things. Maybe it's just taken a toll on you psychologically. At any rate, I believe that you have a right to your opinion. I don't agree with it, but I respect it as long as you can attempt to respect mine. We can find common ground by treating each other in a more civil manner. Do you agree?

Funny, we are the ones with enough imagination, to see this theory for what it could beImage IPB......................rather than, such a shame to have NO imaginationImage IPB.
I have imagination, I can see IT for what it could be. However I also have the common sense to know what it really is: A product of people's denial. Surely the ending could not be that bad, surely. Surely it was all just a dream.
You say that common sense dictates that the IT is wishful thinking and a product born of denial.
I say that common sense dictates that a theory is still viable until it has either been confirmed or disproven.

Has it been confirmed or disproven? NO.

Will it be when the EC is out?          YES.

Will all the ****ing on both sides finally stop? NO.

Is this discussion uttery pointless, as no one will prevail?  YES.
It is false by the fact it has no been proven. Something is either true or false. There is no middle ground in that. If it is suddenly proven to be true via the EC it is true. Until that it will always be false. That is just how things work. I'll freely admit I hope IT will be proven true, but until then it remains what it is - pure imagination, utter denial.
That makes no sense.

Has gravity been proven? No, so will it therefor be false?

Has evolution been proven? No, but that doesn't make it false.

That is the very definition of a theory. A theory is never 100% true, otherwise it would be fact.
A theory is the ultimate definition of a middle ground!
Both of those theories has substantial material to support them. Scientific material. Gravity can - by the way - be directly proven by letting an apple slip from your hand. That is a direct proof of gravity. You have no such things with IT. It is make-believe.
You don't get it. Both of them are theories. Gravity is still a theory, as there exists another side that says that that doesn't prove anything. The most known argument would have to be "God did it!" That doesn't make it true that god did it.

Also, we can't get any scientific evidence for the IT, because it is not science. It is a theory for a game. So we get out evidence from the game, because there is no real scientific evidence that can support it, because that is a totally different area alltogether.

You say that both evolution and gravity has substancial evidence of its truth. Well, so does the IT. You may not see it as evidence. A religious fanatic may not see the evidence for evolution as evidence. They would see the evidence as make-believe.
Yes, but honestly the day I take a religious zealot seriously is the day I forsake my humanity. Also please try to study logic, I am too tired to try and educate you myself.
Yes, and you know why? Because you don't educate. You enforce your own opinion and use wrong and weak-willed reasons to support it. You obviously don't know the definition of "logic." If you did, You would know that the IT is in fact "logical".

Yes, it's an ongoing thing and you have to continue presenting what you have constantly, don't give up just becasue you can't convince certain people. It's a matter of how the game speaks to your ideals and by trying to disprove IT, you are trying to disprove people ideals.

Don't get frusterated, keep posting your counter evidence, it's more constructive than saying "I'm right, you're dumb" no?

If IT is that much a problem for anyone, you should petition BioWare to come on the forum and officially discount it as nothing but the pipe-dreams of devoted fans. If they actually said "Nope!" people would stop talking about it. As long as BioWare keeps going with the "neither confirm nor deny" line, supports will keep bringing up indoctrination theory and looking for evidence to support it.

While killing of IT might cause some short term outcry, the same will happen when the EC dashes the fans hopes. Most people would rather rip the band-aid off quickly.

They don't, but not for any malicious reason: people who don't like either one are "lost', for lack of a better word, and really don't need to be integrated into a conversation about the positive qualities of the conclusion. They only interject their way into the conversation when they start associating a valid and founded interpretation of a piece of fiction with cultism, terrorist-attack theories, and claiming that the President is the antichrist.  And when the argument is consistently just "bad writing", "bad writers", "hate the fanbase" about folks who built the intricate and appreciated world that the game takes place in, then yeah, it's kinda easy to dismiss the hyperbole.

And this is exactly the kind of arrogant garbage I've been talking about.

How does believing that the most logical solution is that the endings were bad writing make me "lost," exactly?

Nope, it's not-

In logic, a three-valued logic is any of several many-valued logic systems in which there are three truth values indicating true, false, and some indeterminate third value.

If anythin describes I.T... it's "indeterminate".

If you know something is true, it does not make you a fool. I don't think you comprehend the meaning behind that quote.
But you don't know if the IT is true or not, do you?

You may believe that you know it's false, but that doesn't mean you're right. Neither will it until the theory is either proven or disproven.
And how exactly would the theory be disproved?

Never said "I'm right, you're dumb."

Just "I'm sick of your obsessive spam-posting, stop trying to make everything about your theory and then steamroll over people who argue against it."

IT is freaking hilarious. It's fun watching these fanboys with their loose grip on reality desperately try to avoid simple fact that Bioware are crap writers who wrote a crap story.

OH sure, the entire 3rd installment is bad..........................uh huhImage IPB
Yup, everything was bad, like Tuchanka, or even worse still, Rannoch!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Rannoch was terrible, Tuchanka was the only good part of the entire story.

The awkward moment when somebody thinks a super retarded boss battle with a nobody reaper is good, and the entire quarian versus Geth storyline totally wasnt a joke, and then has to post a picture instead of using intelligent words because they can't back up their claims.

Either when Bioware downright says it's false, or when the extended cut is released.

I think we can all agree that a matter-of-fact answer on the subject would ease many fans' minds on both sides of this issue. I don't know why they would discount so many other theories but leave I.T. hanging and start speaking in political nonspeech (saying nothing by saying something vague). I'm not to the point where I believe that the simple fact that they dance around it makes IT true. I think if it's not true, they simply don't know how to debunk it gently. They have already appeared to be somewhat inept at public relations at this point.

It is false by the fact it has no been proven. Something is either true or false.

Google "trinary logic".

Utterly irrelevant.

No, not at all.

Unproven things are not false.  They are unknown.

Which would be not true, or false.

You're proving yourself to be out of your league here.  If all trinary logic programs in the world were to suddenly evaluate null as false, everything would suddenly stop working.

Dear God, the pyramids.

Look, if ITers want to get the heat off of them, a) stop storming every thread about the ending and spamming IT videos and B) stop calling people who don't like it uncreative, clowns, etc. when the rabid anti-ITers keep being jerks, you'll have the high ground. But if you persistently, unrelentingly, and obnoxiously raiding threads non-IT related, people are going to look at you like those religious folks who harrass them with pamphlets.
