I found it ridiculous and non-sensical. A reaper destroyer can't kill a single infantryman? Just a main gun? Just squash the tiny ******-ant thing as opposed to giving it a chance to damage you.

For a franchise that used to present itself seriously, it was very disappointing.

first reaction when it was coming out of the pit - 'Uhhhh get the hell out of there!' O_O

Second reaction to staying and fight the damned thing - 'Damn you BioWare! Since when did you start adding epic one-on-one fight scenes?!!'

Final reaction to the outcome - 'Wow took out that Reaper by my self with a tiny laser running around on that ground trying not to get vaporized and all the others say is 'we took out a Reaper' >.> Who is we? I was the only damn thing on that ground facing it!'

But seriously though: as silly/flawed as it was you can't deny that you had the "THIS IS AWESOME" reaction the first run though.

i was always wondering why they dont just take out the jamming towers with say 4 marine teams and hit that thing from orbit from the start......oh yeah, and i was wondering why shepard is stupid enough not to let himself any fallback options and instead stands on this short ledge and..... i think you get my point

Sorry, but I thought that moment was awesome.

Yes it was kinda stupid tactical behaviour on the reaper side, yes Shepard could have choosen a strategically less suicidal battleground, yes the battle itself is kind of an cinematically inflated minigame.
And YES it was damn cheesy.

But meh. I was just... wow.
I think I recited out loud every 80ies action hero one-liner I ever heard during the (YES overused) bullet time moment for the last blow.
To me it was just satisfying on "independence day"-level and one of my favourite moments of the game.
