Its that time of the week again where I do my Firing Range series, and this time its episode 5. I'm comparing the Mattock and the Saber in this episode which are arguable 2 of the best assault rifles in the game. Hope you enjoy and hope I helped anyone out there!

And as always any criticism is welcome, and of course I would very much appreciate it if you liked and commented the video, but nothing makes me happpier than seeing someone subscribe. Again, thanks so much for just reading this post, and I hope I helped =)

Saber > Mattock. You're forced to shoot multiple shots off at a time with the Mattock to do well, with the Saber you only need to shoot once to get your point across to whoever you're fighting. The key thing in ME3 is, how much damage can you do in as quick of a period of time as possible? That's why Heavy Pistols and Sniper Rifles are considered the best.

The video was done nicely, by the way.

Falcon. If you know how to use it - you're owning.

Good video.  Saber hands down is the best.  I used to use the Mattock a lot, as well as the Raptor (which is basically an assault rifle).  Saber 1 destroys both the Mattock X and Raptor X.  Put Armor Piercing V and Extended Barrel V-- and you have a real beast.  Only one real issue I have with the weapon is slow reload speed.  It's pretty heavy but it's the only weapon I carry.

Thank you all for all the positive feedback! =) Its nice to hear haha And agreed I love the Saber, my main problem with it is actually clip size more so than the reload speed. Wouldn't have to reload as much if you had a bigger clip =P

I think i personally prefer the Mattock. With extended mag and a high caliber barrel, you can quickly deal with mobs without a stupidly long reload. If you want mobility, choose the Mattock, if you want sheer stopping power, choose the Saber

I love using either Vindicator or Revenant, I would find the falcon better but don't you have to host a game to keep it from blanking?

I honestly don't consider the saber an AR - it is more sniper rifle than AR, whereas the mattock is the balance between the two.

That being said if you are an accurate and patient shooter the saber will reward you far more than any other AR could.

Out of all the fully auto ar's the phaeston is king.

I've been using the Phaeston lately. It's pretty good for a Turian marksman spamming proximity mines.

Thanks for the video! I liked the Mattock as soon as I unlocked it and eventually got a Saber that I really enjoy. I'm a fan of slow, heavy hitters and the Saber fits the bill pretty well. I'm using it on an experimental GE build for the passive damage and RoF boost, which is working OK.

If you use AP ammo and mag/EB on a human soldier you don't ever need to reload since AR will be ready by the time you run empty.

Fair comparison, but I prefer the Mattock: considering I don't play on the Turian Soldier all that much, the Mattock's close range ROF is pretty helpful on classes like the Turian Sentinel. Plus, with headshot damage factoring in, you can cut down enemies pretty quickly: the elites are the only ones that slow you up.

Pedantic mode on....

Mattock is M-98, not M-97. The Viper is the M-97.

...and /pedantic mode.

The m98 mattock is by far the best assault rifle in game it has great accuracy and perfect damage and with the extended barrel V and magazine upgrade V it is more awesome than the saber .

Though the Revanent is under powered in ME3, I still stand by it. Raining bullets upon my enemies = boss.

My favorite assault assault rifle, until I get the M-99 Saber, is the M-37 Falcon.

Depends on who is using it and how use to the weapon they are. This can change what one is better.

Depends entirely upon the situation at hand, but really, it's between the Saber, Revenant and Falcon.

Saber is by far the best in the anti-armor/anti-individual role (it bests armor with its superior Damage per Round, and can kill individual light enemies with few shots).

Revenant is the best in the anti-infantry role (it dashes through enemies and has one of, if not the highest DPS of all ARs, and a large capacity, making it excellent at taking out or holding back multiple enemies at once)

Falcon is perhaps the greatest weapon available to fill the support role (no other weapon can consistently immobilize non-boss units with single shots, and affect an entire group. Damage is low, but it gives everyone else on the team the time required to kill targets, finish objectives, or thin the numbers of the oncoming forces)

Each fills a different role, and some weapons I haven't mentioned are excellent at some roles (in cases, more than one), but these are what I feel fill the basic roles best.
