Falcon. If you know how to use it - you're owning.
The best Assault rifles are by far the Saber, Mattock, Falcon, and Revenant, in no particular order.

Agreed, I excluded the mattock for the same reason of which it is good. It can put down insane amounts of damaging accurate fire, but it requires a good trigger finger and is difficult to keep sustained without causing some harm to your index finger. The others fill one specific role the best, (Saber Anti-Materiel, Revenant Anti-Infantry, Falcon Support) but the mattock is by far the best at filling all of the roles.

Fair comparison, but I prefer the Mattock: considering I don't play on the Turian Soldier all that much, the Mattock's close range ROF is pretty helpful on classes like the Turian Sentinel. Plus, with headshot damage factoring in, you can cut down enemies pretty quickly: the elites are the only ones that slow you up.
Pedantic mode on....
Mattock is M-98, not M-97. The Viper is the M-97.

Touche.

It works well as;
1) it's light
2) loads of ammo
3) I fire warp --> empty a clip --> throw

That's not your imagination. It shoots grenade projectiles (rather than instantly damaging whatever you're aiming at, i.e. "hitscan") and when you're not hosting, network latency can cause some of your shots to disappear. It's a bug with all weapons that shoot projectiles: Striker, Falcon, Kishock, GPS, Graal, Scorpion, and maybe something else I forgot atm.Pyreal Nova wrote...
Although I swear it's bugged...sometimes it does not damage...rare, but happens.

That said there are a few problems with it. The muzzle rise is bad enough that I have to use a stability mod with it so that only leaves me 1 free mod slot (barrel, piercing, or scope). The other is the painfully slow reload. Normally that isn't too big a deal though since it has a large clip.
Still the Saber is my go-to weapon on my Justicar. On bronze and silver it absolutely demolishes if you get head shots. Even on gold it is still fairly effective. The Mattock is great in singleplayer, but I find it ineffective on silver and gold and it wears out my trigger finger after more than a few matches.

Honestly, for a new player (N7 <100), the Avenger really is the best gun, IMHO. Max it out quick with cheap recruit + veteran packs, rock Bronze and Silver hard with a CasterHS/HE while you build up a decent armory of rares.Draining Dragon wrote...
The avenger. Easy to get, decent damage, low recoil, and low weight.

also best anti armor: Revenant on Turian Soldier,with AP rounds.
Striker should get an honorable mention. Also the hurricane is an assault rifle in smg skin.
