I like the sound and feel of the Revenant, unfortunately it's weak as hell (I only have rank II now though). I don't mind the Geth PR since it's got decent damage at V, but I really don't use ARs anymore.

I didn't see it mentioned before but I'd say the Collector Rifle. At level 1 it's got the damage of Avenger X, the fire rate and ammo capacity of phaeston, with the accuracy of Geth Pulse Rifle.

There is no such thing as best, They all serve a purpose and have a build that work with them.

yeah each rifle has its own situation, build, class and owner that suits it best. I can take a vindicator and do pretty well because it was my mainstay weapon through all of ME2 and Me3 just about but on my geth engineer I use a GPR, on my asari justicar that I got today iv been using a Saber and doing quite well. Falcon and striker can rot in hell though.

The best assault rifle is the one you leave in your gun rack and then take something else.

Saber would have been my choice, if not for the high weight penalty. Overall, a Mattock is a suitable weapon for every class. Be it the weapon and/or power orientated class. That's my pick.

Raptor X.

No, it's not a sniper-rifle. Don't buy the hype.

xD i dont even use raptor, i hate the noise i get with it. when ever i zoom my audio card decides to throw a tantrum and gives me this unbearable static sound instead of the normal sound you get while zoomed in, and its not just a spike in the static, it keeps pouring in as long as i keep myself zoomed in, gues if BW is lifting a finger to fix it?

Uh... hate to tell you. But that's just the sound it makes when zoomed in bro.

I am all about the Mattock right now. I use a Phaeston in SP but i've gotten so unlucky with my veteran packs I only have a Phaeston II. Once I get it higher I'd like to see how it does but for now the Mattock is a beast

On gold the Mattock with the piercing mod V and barrel V actually does decent damage against armored targets. I have been using it on my gethgineer and have been quite happy with it. I do find that I can't use it for too many games it a row because my trigger finger gets sore from keeping it's ROF so high.

I cannot comment on the Sabre.

General utility: (Mattock if spec'd right)
Hard target buster: Sabre (from what I've heard)
Combo specialist: GPR (with ammo mods of course)
Crowd Control: Falcon (when it actually gets detected)
Covering Fire: Revenant (with piercing and magazine, note you won't kill anything with this, just help soften them up)

Still can't get away from my Phaeston-X, but I do play Turian Sentinel a lot...and that's usually the only time I equip an AR.

I like the Phaeston on the Turian Sentinel as well. The only thing he carries. Phaeston X will give +200% power recharge bonus.

It was my favorite for sure until Resurgence...lol.  Now, I play a squishy the same way I play the Turian vis-a-vis the Chain overload...yet with a very offensive turret, god mode, and of course...the GPS-X.

Right, except it IS a sniper rifle, which means you take a damage hit when not zoomed in. Meaning in situations where you'd need to do damage quickly (enemy is in your face) you're actually going to do the least unless you're a god at hitting moving targets while scoped at close range. Not a good trade-off IMO.

Personally I like the Mattock as the best all-around AR. Fast enough fire rate to not be a liability in CQC, good for sniping without a scope, and good damage. All the rapid-fire ARs just flat-out suck, but yeah the lone exception is that I (like many others, apparently) use a Phaeston on my Turian Sentinel.

I like my Mattock X better than my Saber I.  Now if I had a Saber V+, that would be a different argument.

Best lightweight AR: Vindicator

Best sniping AR: Saber

Best all-purpose AR: Mattock

Best utility AR: Falcon

pretty much.

also best anti armor: Revenant on Turian Soldier, with AP rounds.

Striker should get an honorable mention.  Also the hurricane is an assault rifle in smg skin.

Striker is knocking on the door but not yet a full member of the gentlemen's club.

high ammo waste, not as good as the Falcon at killing units in cover, and staggers only when Shields are down.though it does not suffer from non-hosting as much as the Falcon does.

I have difficulty with using the Revenant. Even at Lv 7 with a stability mod V and Turian Soldier, it is a bit tough to fully control. And for some reason the recoil makes the gun travel down instead of up. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

remove the stability mod if you have trouble with negative recoil.extended barrel+extended magazine clip+armor piercing rounds, and watch the Atlas armor go down.

yes it takes some effort to control it ,even with marksman.you can still use stabilization modules.

I prefer the Mattock, probably because I have a faster trigger finger than most and it never gets tired.
