Forgetting for the moment  most of the issues with this site (as search or the updating process) because soon or later Jesse will fix them or find a solution (thanks for the work!), I'd like to discuss about the Project Tab and its service to the DA community.

Just like I see it now, it is not helping the builder or the player in any way, yeah, many of you already know why. And it's a pity, because a moddable game like this could bring us not only those little mods you're installing... also big adventures and resources where people will spend MANY hours that will transform in many hours for your gameplay (AND FOR FREE). Is a fact that the project's tab is not helping.

Some of you has stated the "Vault" word: what is it? The Vault was and is a website that keeps the main support for the games Neverwinter Nights 1/2 (there are for other games but this is the best example: nwvault.ign.com). Itself increased the longevity of this game and the raising of the community (for me it has been a reason NWN has been one of the best RPGs ever). The site was not a tech big deal but accomplished the community's desires also with the help of the NWN developers (Bioware/Obsidian) who had permissions to upload patches in new mirrors or give information about next updates or new works/expansions in progress. Also, every day the site got updated with the new files (perfectly organized) or with news about the community/developer, and not automatic stuff, there were great admins (St. Maximus is in every's nwn good modders mind) that carried the site and worried about the site problems and future updates.

So , giving you an initial summary of it, just asking you some simple questions. If they can help to visualize a future work here... GREAT. If not, as usual, I've tried :)

1 - Should Bioware/EA improve the user file management in this website?
    - Yes, at all costs
    - No, is fine as it is
    - No, we can trust on community websites to keep the files.

2 - Do you think this site interface is enough to carry a File Vault?
     - Yes, it could be done fixing a lot
     - No, it needs another popup or site with a better organization.

3 - Do you think this site can be so "automatic" or needs some permissions?
     - As social site everything should appear automatically and without discrepancies
     - Only should appear those projects that aren't  WIP (work in progress) and contain Files or references to them
     - It needs someone to approve these Projects, I can imagine someone uploadin a Paris Hilton's morph head that can kill the whole community (seriously for not talking about virus, pornography, child abuse, terrorism...)

4 - Do you think the projects/files categories should be expanded?
    - Yes, yes, yes. Lot of categories and organization
    - I'd only give a few suggestions
    - No, i like to be messy :) (I am messy)

5 - Do you think the Projects need journalists/reviewers to keep the flame and organization?
     - No, why? Another Dungen Master watching my steps? I have enough with my wife/parents
     - No, I prefer all automatic
     - Yes, and should be controlled by BW workers
     - Yes, and could be controlled by community members or forum moderators.

6 - Do the projects need more advertising? Such as interviews, reviews, links, forum spotlights, new DLC available or support to the larger projects?
      - Eh, what?
      - Yes, I'd like to know past, present and future of DA releases.
      - No, google will be my advertiser
      - No, i voted for all automatic or don't want to read boring content

7 - Do you think other aspects of this site are lacking functionality?
      - Yes, Blogs are ignored
      - Yes, Polls are ignored
      - Yes, Groups are ignored
      - No, everything is fine or will look fine.

8 - Should Projects/files have its "Hall of Fame" or improved score system?
     - Yes, extended new score system and HoF stuff. I'd like to see the good and bad points of each project.
     - Yes but a simple one like now is enough. Won't be bad a Top files section with better organizaton.
     - No, I hate flamers, vote control, dsicouraging projects, troll wars and that stuff so usual in this kind of sites.
     - No, why?

And that's all, I hope this helps to see what the people wants. Just try to keep on topic, don't make it much boring as I'm doing, keep civil.

thanks for reading, thanks for replying, thanks for my wasted time :D

Just so you feel better:

1 - Should Bioware/EA improve the user file management in this website?
- No, is fine as it is; i assume you mean the file management in the projects section. I don't see what's the problem with it

2 - Do you think this site interface is enough to carry a File Vault?
- Yes, it could be done fixing a lot; the first and second part of the answer are contradicting each other. Also, why force the word "Vault"? 'Improvement' doesn't equal 'copy something what is already there'.

3 - Do you think this site can be so "automatic" or needs some permissions?
- Neither. Why 'overpolice' ourselves'? That said, a mandatory flag indicating WiP would be nice

4 - Do you think the projects/files categories should be expanded?
- No, i like to be messy :) (I am messy); You force your opinion on others. Why is it messy?

5 - Do you think the Projects need journalists/reviewers to keep the flame and organization?
- No, why?; What 'flame' are you talking about?

6 - Do the projects need more advertising? Such as interviews, reviews, links, forum spotlights, new DLC available or support to the larger projects?
- Community projects are community projects. The players decide for themselves which project is worth their attention and which isn't. Official DLCs are advertised on http://dragonage.bioware.com/addon/. I don't see your problem.

7 - Do you think other aspects of this site are lacking functionality?
- None of the sections you mentioned suffer from major problems. Forums could use some tweaking, though.

8 - Should Projects/files have its "Hall of Fame" or improved score system?
- Yes but a simple one like now is enough. ; In other words: there is no need since it's already in place.

At the end, please allow me to formulate my concern about your post:
There is not a single mention how to improve the projects tab. You just want it to be similar as that 'vault' of yours. With most of the questions and answers you just try to force your opinion on the people. While in certain cases you may got the point, it's basically just a bashing of this site for not being like ...'the vault' or what not. Well, it's not that other site. You act like a saviour of everyone and then go "i told 'ya" when no one cares. What about the possibility that the people are fine with what they have? If you don't like it, you could make actual suggestions for additional functionality and not post some pseudo-polls like this. The site is not without flaws but the appropriate people are working on it and are open to suggestions.

If you`re asking whether this site should be more like the Vault, mys answer is yes. It should be AT LEAST as good. Then make it BETTER ;)

1 - Should Bioware/EA improve the user file management in this website?
    - Yes, at all costs
    - No, is fine as it is
    - No, we can trust on community websites to keep the files.

     - No, it needs another popup or site with a better organization.

3 - Do you think this site can be so "automatic" or needs some permissions?
     - As social site everything should appear automatically and without discrepancies (with a site admine who can be contacted to remove inappropriate content)

Lot of categories and organization. Not neccesarrily "lots", but definitely more and better.
    - I'd only give a few suggestions
    - No, i like to be messy :) (I am messy)

     - Yes, and could be controlled by community members or forum moderators. Not a must have, but would be nice.

7 - Do you think other aspects of this site are lacking functionality?
      - Yes, Blogs are ignored
      - Yes, Polls are ignored
      - Yes, Groups are ignored... But I don`t really care about that at this stage.

      - No, everything is fine or will look fine.

Sorry to dissapoint you but I'm not forcing anyone to post or give opinion, which is just what the post is about. If the poll is centered to a topic is because there's a summary in the beggining that envisionize the topic and can help the people to answer. I'm not here for trolling "this site is bulls**", neither I'm in the "People who think this site is awesome" group. I'm not bashing anyone but myself, sure there's people working on this site, hopefully they will take the thread as a look for improvement, not as a big problem to solve.

Anyway your negative (or positive) opinion is more than welcome, thanks

Thanks ECP, you got my fluent spanglish and made your good points like:
3 - Do you think this site can be so "automatic" or needs some permissions?
     - As social site everything should appear automatically and without discrepancies (with a site admine who can be contacted to remove inappropriate content)

This can be another option, yeah

improve it by having them put into categories ... searching through 700 + items that msot of which are non existant is a waste of time

touche
Back when i joined the group i really thought it was. Still think it's pretty good but some problems emerged.

I think if your 'poll'/suggestions were made without the intro where you glorify the _whatever_other_site_ and its admins, you'd have gotten better reception. On the other hand, my response triggered some more positive attention to the thread so ultimately i've helped you to reach your goal (well, if you reach it). :)
