Hey folks

I'm looking to try and get some sort of understanding of the "LegendSave" file of currently unknown (but almost certainly EC related) purpose that your game saves on completion.
If you're a PC gamer and have completed the game, you'll find a "LegendSave" file in your savegame folder.
Basically, I want to try to understand what flags this sets for the extended cut or any future DLC, and for that I need to examing a whole lot of LegendSave files from different outcomes.

So if you could do the following that'd be great:

1-Upload your legendsave file somewhere (sendspace.com, rapidshare.com or similar)
2-Post the link in this thread or PM it to me, along with as much information as possible about your save (EMS, choice, anderson dead/alive, shepard dead/alive, LI etc)
3-?????
4-PROFIT!!!

If you really want to be helpful, then you could upload identical save files with different choices made at the end, that way we can see easily which variables come out different.

FOR SCIENCE!

I wasn't aware of this.

I bet it's for more adventures that will allow me to further the Commander Shepard legend though..........

I support your study, and as soon as im done my next playthrough ill send you the save.

I believe it is possibly for future Mass Effect games (Before ME3 was launched they said `Make sure to keep all your save files`)

I would assume it's for the EC.........

I can't understand why anything would be for pre-ending DLC.

It's too early for a new game planning......

Which is interesting, because it's from before the EC was ever announced ;)

Interesting.

Hudson has stated that there will be no games after 3, only prequels.

Perhaps it will use your save data to determine content in the pre-ending DLC? I don't know.

It's all speculation I guess, which is part of the reason I want to find out what it logs :D

Also there are a startling number of chickens in this thread.

Source? I remember them saying it was "the end of Shepards story, but not the end of the ME universe", but i never remember them saying none shall take place after

I'm pretty sure it was Walters who said that, actually, along with a crack about not knowing why anyone would want to play in a "wasteland".

I support this. Unfortunately, I'm still in the middle of tweaking my own save for purposes such as this.

You have something here though! Keep it up!

We don't even know if Bioware will be making more Mass Effect games. The EC will be a big moment for them.

It could mean nothing as well.........

Just more meaningless data.........

I recall Bioware stating that this would be the end of Shepard's story but not necessarily that they wouldn't expand on the ME franchise. I'd quite like to see something set in the aftermath of the detonation of the crucible, maybe even with vastly differing storylines depending on which of the 3 endings you chose. Just saying "Shepard ended the Reaper threat and sent the universe back to the stone age in the process" is a crappy way to end an amazing game franchise in my opinion. If they don't explain the aftermath with Final Cut, they simply have to do it with another game in my opinion. Ending the reaper threat wasn't meant to make things just as bleak as they were before.

is there a save like this fore ME2? I'm thinking it could be a hold over if they used the same save system

I think the big difference is that you could play DLC after or before you finish ME2. To play certain types of ME3 DLC (say help Aria take back Omega for instance) after the ending wouldn't make much sense. On the other hand having a save that keeps your ending choice makes sense in case they write any DLC set after the end (ie set up a colony on a planet you crash on).

Nope, check out the image in my second post above - the NewGamePlusSave file handles that.

If you copy it, rename the copy and load it up, what happens? It's not just the save from before you assault the cerberus base is it? And what is ChapterSave?

I beleive Chapter Save is the savefile "Restart mission" for each last entered mission.
