I really wish people would stop turning threads that are NOT about IT into IT threads. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If it's freezing at the grandpa scene when the legend file is deleted, could it have something to do with the fact that it's an imported Shep game? The winter/grandpa scene is only there for ME2 or NG+ Shep imports.

Really?
I wasn't aware of that, are you sure?

I don't do a whole lot of forum stuff on the Internet, but I was told that a "Dev" reply is a reply from a Developer.  I posted a thread not long ago in which the only reply I got was from a "Dev" which pretty well answers your question...

http://social.biowar.../index/11858256

The "dev" states that the "stargazer" scene IS only there for ME2 and NG+ imports.

Developers have a big 'BioWare' logo under their portraits. Someone with the word 'dev' in their name is just someone with the word 'dev' in their name.

So then the thread I started that I posted a link to is still left unanswered.  What is the "secret ending" the game guide suggests is there only for people who play a second playthrough??

Now my personal stance on the choice bit is that ultimately there is an indoctrination attempt going on there with the star brat and to me the best way to resist it is by rejecting its solutions....we just got over talking TIM and Saren to death on both control and synthesis respectively so it makes no sense for me to go there when Shepard can't even think straight and ask the logical questions or actually go into a huge argument with the catalyst. If the reapers just wanted to sit down and talk without the indoctrination bit and got off their high horses and genuinely shared informations on possible resolutions I might take them more seriously and I might even go for something other than destroy. It remains to be seen how BioWare will play this out in the EC but I still think it's unlikely they can change the stance of most people on this issue....IT or not.

My earlier post showed me venting a bit more frustration than I intended to with the "moving target" that is IT.  I'm sure a large part of that is that it takes me awhile to formulate an opinion on anything, because I do my utmost to avoid snap judgements, I like to understand all sides, etc.  Being unable to pin down exactly what constitutes IT increases the difficulty in evaluating it as a possibility as a whole.  Parabolee's (I'm sure I just butchered their name...) blog actually does a great job of presenting the argument for IT, and so that's what I have started considering "official."  Anyway, enough about me.

Even though I reject IT, it is my fervent desire to also reject the Star Kid, partly for the very reasons I have bolded.  It's easy to reject Control or Synthesis and thus choose Destroy as the lesser of known evils, but I feel that even in this case we fall into the Reaper "trap."  It is still the Reapers presenting our options, and Shepard is still picking one of them.  The fact that one of those choice seems to result in the destruction of the person presenting the choices (a form of suicide) is just as flawed to me as the presentation of a choice that I rejected literally 4 minutes prior.  Regardless, that's not the point of this thread, is it?

On-topic:  What program are people using to be able to see the actual values, etc. that are listed in the file?  As someone else in the thread did before me, I checked the two files that I have using notepad.  There was a lot of garbage, but enough was clear to realize that it was basically saving a "snapshot" of your character.  Upgrades and romance status were the easy ones to determine.  It looked like there was also possible flags for conversations with Hackett and Anderson while on the Normandy, and a bunch of other stuff that was too nebulous to tell for sure.  Unfortunately, it's notepad, so it sucked hehe.

The whole reason why I think that star brat doesn't hide the destroy option is because it's at the foremost in SHepard's mind and they are still working on indoctrinating him. We saw with Saren and TIm that if you stray too far from reason even fully indoctrinated servants will snap out of it partially so to try and hide the option would just not have worked because if something can allegedly control the reapers than it certainly must be able to destroy them.

As for a program to read the values in the save files I'm assuming that the OP is using Gibbed's save editor since it can read and edit every last bit of a save and its 20000+ variables.....it's quite insane and awesome.

within that context, given the terms there's a bit of a different.. the
way that we're structuring the story is pretty different.. So it will
make a good sense why the dlc plugs in to where it does." Said by BW at 2011,so answer is yes they sold us uncomplete game :)

Im completing game with my perfect save ,so ill upload legend save when im finished ;)

Well, sadly BioWare sad alot of thinks and proofe themselves wrong later. They have lost my trust and I don´t want my hopes crushed again, so I will patiently wait for the EC. My expactations are pretty low right now, but who knows, maybe they can surprise us all and fix this mess somehow. IT has some good evidence ^_^
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just watched the video in which BW supposedly says that, and I'm fairly certain he's saying "I CAN tell you...," HOWEVER, is it possible that the end is on the disc and we just can't access it until a DLC comes out?  BTW, I am not a supporter of IT, and no I am not a close-minded person who doesn't know anything about it because I have read many articles on it and watched many LONG videos describing it.  IT is a good theory, I'm just one of those people who think it's been over-analyzed and overly discussed to the point that I'd rather see BW pull out an even bigger twist for the ending that none of us have conceived of yet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, but why did they announced the EC a month after the release, after the huge backlash, which cost BioWare alot of money? The prize of the game had dropped rapidly, many SWTOR subscribition got canceled etc. pp.
If they all had this planned along, why will it take the developers month to release EC?
Yes, there was a tweet from the official Mass Effect accaunt who said EC was planned from the beginning, but I doubt, that the guys behind this accaunt know anything about the EC and Mike Gamble  had tweeted EC was not planned. So, who is more trustworthy? A vague statement from 2011 and some unknown low paid random guys on twitter or Mike Gamble?
All this back and forth from BioWare is really annyoing and this is one of the reasons why the fan outrage was and still is so massive.
If they planned to release the true ending via DLC it makes no sense from an economical point of view to wait month to give us the extended cut.

Yeah, IT overanalyzed man ythings and some of the "proofs" are just stupid, but I have to admit,  it give the ending atleast some sense of logic. If BioWare can pull a good, or even a bigger twist with the EC and give us a "satisfying" and logical ending, then there is no need for IT.
The writers proofed on Tuchanka, that they can "pull the strings together".

Sigh. Everybody quoting what Walters and Hudson 'said'. Like what they said means that's what they'll actually do?! Christ, they've already closed down a bunch of threads listing all the things that just the two of those chuckleheads have said that turned out to be out and out lies. Why in Christ's name would anybody bother listening to anything they have to say anymore and assume that they're telling the truth with anything?!

See, this is the problem that arises when you have deceitful developers who say whatever they need to to sell games; you'll eventually end up with a fanbase that simply doesn't believe what they say anymore. You also end up with fans who meticulously track down statements and post them, then point out the discrepancies and deceptions.

Short point? Why is anybody bothering to pay any attention to Hudson or Walters and what they say? They've already been shown to lie, so what has changed in the past weeks that has negated that reality? Why would they suddenly switch to being truthful after all their lies?

The 'secret ending' is a clip of Hudson laughing at you for wasting even more of your time on the rubbish heap of a single player experience.  It also shows him holding up money and fanning it out in front of his face, cackling hysterically the whole time and promising 'multiple different endings where choices matter' if you just buy all the upcoming DLC and new Bioware products.

Does anyone have any proof, either way, as to whether the Stargazer scene is ME2 import and NG+ only or not? People say on this thread it isn't, but on another thread they're telling me it is. I need someone to show evidence for one.

I played a new ME3 game, an import and a NG+ game, and I got stargazer scene in all of them. And the ending was similar in all three as in there was no "secret" ending in NG+ or anything.

See, that's what I mean.  The Official Guide says there's a "secret ending" for people who play through a second time.  So what is the "secret ending" or is the Official Guide just lying?

You don't get the Stargazer ending without importing a save or playing through a second time.

I got the stargazed scene on a new ME3 game. Its not linked to whether you import, do a NG+ game or not.

Out of curiousity, did you play the new ME3 game first or after you had already beat the game?

That is exactly what the Official Guide says.  "There is a secret ending for players who play through the game a second time."   Nobody's able to provide me any evidence either way yet for if it's the Stargazer scene, so I'm just going to settle it for myself.  I'm going to start an entirely new ME3 game, with one of my old gamertags that I haven't played it with yet, and see if I get the Stargazer scene.  If I do, then the "secret ending" cannot be the Stargazer scene.  If I don't get it, then it's officially the "secret ending" (and a pretty effin lame one at that) I'll post my results on this forum when I'm done.  It may take a couple days though as I'm only now about to start it.

Nope I played with an imported game first. AND that might be the key here. i was thinking about this too. Maybe people who played a new  game in their first go didn't receive the stargazer scene, but once you've played with an imported onr or NG+, you receive that scene on all of your games, new or not?

Yeah I was just thinking the Stargazer scene might be tied to the Legend achievement (on Xbox anyway). I know in ME2 if you had beat the game and had the achievment, you still got the bonuses (extra squad power) even if you started a brand new game.

Regarding Hudson saying there won't be anything post ME3 only prequels. Hudson has said a lot of things that didn't happen. Why not continue afterward? But the ending is a cliffhanger. It doesn't seem like a real end. An MMO? That will cut us XBox people out. And MMOs always involve agriculture which I don't like.

The only quotes that I'm aware of regarding this are actually (damnit, now I can't find the quotes, so these are NOT direct quotes): "This is the end of Shepard's story arc" and "No DLC will be occurring that take place after the end of ME3."

Gibbed's save editor will read most of the data in a standard ME3 save, but there are still lots of unknowns.

For harcore editing you need a hex editor to understand anything, and even then a lot of stuff is meaningless unless you already know what it is.
