I've asked this at a few other forums and haven't been getting concrete answers. It seems like everyone is just using ED + sniper rifles and pistols.

I'm confused. Are we talking single player or multiplayer? Is ED supposed to stand for Energy Drain, or something else?

It can be a good build, though not specifically for a soldier. A soldier don't really need Marksman when the class gets the AR. If you think you must do this build, i think a vanguard may be better suited.

as far as I know Marksman can't be activated with Adrenaline Rush at the same time, even with the AR evolution to allow 1 power usage during its effect (correct me if I'm wrong, haven't done a Soldier playthrough yet).

Instead of soldier I should have said revenant Shepard and yes ED refers to energy drain.

Very interesting build suggestion. I never even considered that.

Revenant is a beast at short range, and still good at medium. Firing from cover is your best bet, of course, but I am certain you knew all of that.

Marksman is very good with it, however... the problem is that it does not/cannot stack with Adrenaline Rush.

Adrenaline Rush, in my opinion is superior due to the free reload, time dilation, and damage bonus (better than a ROF bonus because it does not make ammunition consumption more rapid),  and even damage reduction (depending on how you evolve it).

You do not need marksman to do well with the revenant. Its stability and accuracy issues are best handled with a stability damper mod, and either firing from cover in short-controlled bursts for medium range engagements, or full-auto while "zoomed" (non-scope zoom) at short and close range.

Doing either one of these techniques with practice and utilizing adrenaline rush, you should be very pleased with the results, especially if you use explosive ammunition.

However, I would also suggest that you consider the Geth Pulse Rifle combined with explosive ammunition and adrenaline rush.

There's almost no reason to use the Revenant in SP, IMO. The Hornet is better in almost every way (DPS, weight, accuracy) and heatsink + mag size means you never have to reload with adrenaline rush.

MP's a different story because the Revenant's gotten several major buffs.

I dislike the hornet because of the 3 round burst and the barrel rise. If SMGs came with stability mod, I might use it in SP, but still doubtful. Firing from cover helps a little, but I would still prefer full-auto. Personal opinion, your mileage may vary.
