Because they knew there will be people who won't take it as proof, anyway?

OP assumes he/she caught a Bioware *slip*. Do you think this is the case?

So he made the decision to lie to everyone for no reason other than to cover up an ending we won't be seeing for months... Yet was somehow planned?

Well base on what wasoriginally planned. I would say the decision cameup when they didn't get more time.

Everything can be beieved or not. If you must grasp at every straw for evidence, then your proof is weak. Some developer labeled a plant 'dreamplant' and now thats a knockout punch? No.

not really the answer i was looking for. there is enough evidence supporting IT that it merits to be addressed. what is it that makes you believe it can't be true?

I think if the ending was the same, but done better with more clarity and explaination, IT would never exist. It seems to me no one wants to think that Bioware, the god of story telling, somehow failed. That this can simply not happen.

Well Bioware are human and humans fail. Even the best. They messed up at the end of the franchise and now want to fix it. We don't have to make things up out of denial that they failed. Accept this was the ending and hope they can rescue it somehow.

In a sense, yes. Religions have the same amount of circular logic (Bible is God's word, therefore it's true, therefore it's God's word...) and utterly ignore any facts that conflict with their believes.

You keep listing lots and lots of pieces of information which might point to IT whilst ignoring the vastly greater amount of information that conflicts with it. Regardless of whether it's like a religion, it's bad science.

At the end of the day, ask yourself this: What's the chance of observing X (art asset named "dream_plant" being used in a scene") if IT wasn't true? If you don't see why you need to do this, read this pr GTFO[/url]

You not understanding the name of the code is to makesure it's correctly placed. They would rename it if they were using it somewhere else not keep the same name of the previous planned location on it...

That's your argument? Really? *Everyone* is using hard-coded path references all the time, so presumably Bioware devs are just as bad, which means that they'd have to change that everywhere - much, much easier to just keep the old name.

oh, please don't make the mistake of thinking that i believe this simple case of asset reuse proves the IT, that would use be silly.

It wasn't an interview... It was a direct message to the fans from the Co-Founder on the Bioware site... Nobody made him mention that it was in addition to their current plans... He chose to.

that is a fair and reason opinion to have and that was my position until this EC business came along. I guess my hope for the franchise to be rescued is that the IT was planned.

Yeah my Sheploo was getting fed up with all the women getting thrown at him since he was gay; they kept on trying to grope him or kiss him until he found Steve.
Even my Femshep was getting annoyed with her perverted Yeoman's when she was with her Garbear lol

So shooting Udina and punching Garrel were just a wonderful dream...

It's somewhat interesting, but honestly, they probably just reused a bunch of the plants. It wouldn't make any sense from a programming standpoint to make new things of the same theme if you can get away with it.

And for those saying that Bioware is lazy for doing this, part of the reason textures are reused is because if they never reused anything, no one would have a computer with enough space to run the game.

My "canon" Shep is male.  Thus, I refer to Shep as "he", "him", etc.  I find no fault with people who refer to Shep as female.  Calling people out on the gender usage, or being forced to be in a position where you're apologizing or defending the words you used (when they were appropriate as well as grammatically correct! *gasp*) is just silly in the case of the ME universe.

Isn't there some picture or something somewhere where it shows that there's reflections of trees, shrubbery, etc. in the final room with the Star Child, and they re-created what it would have looked like?  I know I saw something like that floating around, just can't remember where.

The logical conclusion is that when Shepard was originally supposed to become Indoctrinated, they made a bunch of resources to support the scene.  This included being in a garden or something, with a bunch of shrubberies (Supported by The Knights Who Say "Ni").  Later, the scene was scrapped, and alternative scene with Joker crashing on the unnamed planet made use of the otherwise wasted resources.

I don't need anything to support it but my faith in Bioware that the surrealness of the ending was completely intentional. I refuse to believe they made something so surreal by accident.

>reusage of art assets = indoctrination proof

This is how bad the ending of Mass Effect 3 actually is for fans; it makes people dig through the game files to create excuses and head-canon away what actually happened. It's a grand theroy but we need to face facts - the ending isn't some elaborate ruse created by brilliant minds, it's the result of poor time management, production, writing and planning.

I can understand the desperateness to try and prove that the crap we got isn't real. I mean, I was with ME from the beginning. It couldn't end with that horrible thing.

Except it did. Oh Bioware, only you could competely nuke a trilogy like that. I think they stopped caring halfway through. That "SPECULATION FOR EVERYONE" note bullsh!t put the nail in the coffin.

i'm not sure we read the same statement or we have the same understanding of the IT. if the IT was planned from the start then his statement does nothing to confirm or deny it.

Seen this before. This foliage is actually in the kid dream sequences too you realise. Recycled assets and all that. It can be seen near the base of some trees in a few of the dreams, I may bother looking for it a bit later.

Apart from the part where he specifically states that the"content initiatives" (which were revealed to be EC), which according to IT is going to add in the endings, wasn't part of their planned post-release content.

It doesn't dismiss IT as a possibility, but it certainly discredits the notion that it's been Biowares master plan from the start.

What's next? How about the cinematic scene in which Anderson lies to Shepard and tells him he doesn't have a family. Ah, but he does have a family!! He lied to Shepard or was it just Shepard telling himself to settle down? You see, I know that Anderson has a family.... he said so in an email that he sent to Shepard. YAHTZEE!!!

And don't attempt to refute this by telling me this cinematic was cut.  It may not have been.  They say that if you play through ME1-ME3 and do not romance anyone, you will get the scene with Anderson that was supposedly cut.  I'm testing this out to see the validity of it.  Even if this was a cut scene, you cannot argue that Bioware did not intend the IT.  I'm sorry but there is no counterargument for this.

The 'dream_Foilage' isn't much proof. That stupid sequence was probably ment to be interpreted as a dream sequence. But not dream as in IT. More like dream as in Shepards dying minds last thoughts about his loved ones.

But I would like an answer to is how Shepard could survice the HUGE citadel explosion.
I mean. He didn't have much armor left to speak of. It was burnt and damaged. He had no helmet and no life support or protection left.

Image IPB

And yet this:
Image IPB
to give some perspective just how big the explosion is...

Leads to this?
Image IPB

No, He should be vaporized. He would be vaporized instantly. But lets pretend he isn't, (and that close to breaking suspension of disbelief for me) he still have to survive going freefall in to earth orbit (with no armor to talk about this time) and crashing straight in to the ground at terminal velocity.
And this time he has to survive. Not dying and get resurrected two years later with the help of state of the art tech and a terrorist group like the last time.
