Well since we had a "Worst way ME3 can end?" back in the o' ME2 days which proved to be strangely like what we actually got. How about we do it one last time and have a "Worst day the extended cut can end"

Oh, and try to have more creative answers then "Keeping starbrat in." Think of an ending that would make you a seethe with rage/scream/turn into the incredible hulk.

The worst way the extended cut can end if they change the ending that would look better at the end of Neon Genesis Evangelion (i.e. Random RL videos, characters talking about random stuff and LI getting strangled while happy music plays)

The worst way it can end? I'm thinking if it turns into an X-rated hentai flick starring Harbinger

Shepard's "breathe" scene was just his dying gasp. The paradise the crew crashed in was a representation of the afterlife, because Bioware wanted to be all metaphysical and deep, like the ending of Jacob's Ladder (not to say that movie was deep, because it had about as much depth as Donnie Darko or K-Pax). In fact, for maximum trollage, make it to where the whole EC played out like Jacob's Ladder.

That aside, another way to efficiently break the EC for me is go with "everything happened just like you saw it", while simultaneously rolling out off-handle explanations about starchild, Joker's flight, etc. Then, at the very end, say the crew and Shepard survived, but they never saw Shepard again.

That makes absolutely no sense.

"Shepard."
"Ugh what happened?"
"That beacon hit you pretty hard. You've been out for a couple of hours."
"I.. I had the weirdest dreams."
End-credits.

Starkid comes back from the dead after Shepard's choice and murders the entire galaxy because Shepard was a moron. Joker ACTUALLY runs away because he's a coward. Everyone dies on Gilligan's Planet from starvation and insanity. Then 3D versions of Casey Hudson and Mac Walters teabag Shepard's face set to Yakkety Sax and the sounds of millions of people screaming in horror and agony.

A giant firework explodes in the sky with twinkly "ARTISTIC INTEGRITY" letters.

The end.

I'm not even trolling when I say that if Bioware retconned Mass Effect 2 and 3's ending in to "it was just a dream" I'd be ecstatic. That, for me, is literally the BEST possible outcome. If the only canon was Mass Effect 1 I'd be over the moon.

If the stargazer scene changed to this:

Buzz: "...And everything blew up."

Kid: "That was the most artistic story i've ever heard, if I could i'd give it 75 thumbs up."

Buzz: "Yes, unfortunately your mum is an entitled b*tch who doesn't appreciate the artistic integrity of the galaxy."

Kid: "That's unfortunate."

Buzz: "Don't worry, i'll clarify the story for her later."

Kid: "You so amazing grandpappah, b*tches like mammah don't deserve family like you."

Buzz: "I know, now shut up and buy moar dlc."

Not in the way i think you intend. I mean if that were his/her last gasp for air, don't you think that during the camera pan there would have been other gasps for air rather than the singular that sounds remarkably similar to someone who has been winded, and taking their first breath?

The worst way it can end? I'm thinking something like this:
Garrus, Joker, and EDI crash land on a strange plane-

oh wait.

You realize the entire story was just a couple of starfleet officers watching the events of Mass Effect unfold on a holodeck.

Shepard wakes up to Ashley saying "Dr Chakwas! I think he's waking up!" after Eden Prime. He then tells Chakwas, Ashley and the rest of the crew about his trippy dream.

"And you were there, and you were there, and you were there too! I met these people called Garrus, Liara, Wrex, Tali, Mordin, Thane, Legion, Grunt and so many more! It was awesome! Oh yeah, and you died. Sorry Ash."

The worst way it could end is the way ME3 currently ends.

Everything they add is exposition for the parts leading up to the choice, and then showing more clearly the immediate effects of the choice, but the game still ends with the crew walking out of the Normandy on the jungle planet, a brand new day, and if Shepard survived, the breath scene still plays right before the credits.

The comment was meant as a joke. I'm guessing you've never seen Jacob's Ladder, if you didn't catch onto that.

I mean, what more could Bioware do to ruin the EC than killing Shepard off? They could just say it was a death rattle or something ridiculous, in order to end the series on some silly metaphysical note. You know, a little tragedy to make it seem deep and mature. Besides, that scene hardly shows anything in terms of audio or visuals. Most of it is the camera panning over rubble. When it gets to Shepard, you barely see the chest move unless you're staring hard at it. It's extremely subtle, just like his breath for air.

That Joker really did flee with some of your squad mates. I felt the ending was so confusing it's hard to really think of how it could get worse. Maybe something bad with each choice.

The worst thing the EC could do:

Providing too much clarity and closure where I wanted to use my own imagination (the characters' fate), and not providing clarity and closure where it's desperately needed (the galaxy's fate).

Unfortunately, I see this as a distinct possibility.

Shhh guys don't give BioWare ideas!

Seriously though in my opinion the ending can't get any worse. Even if EC changed the ending to Harbinger destroying the whole galaxy and riding off on a cross-eyed unicorn it could not lower my opinion of the ending any more than it already is.

The worse thing that can happen is them showing the mass relays taking out every system that has one, which basically means you wiped out the majority of advanced life in the galaxy and did the Reapers job for them.

I kind of agree with this. If they're afraid of the possible backlash from disproving the IT entirely, they could end it it like Total Recall with Shepard (in the Destroy ending) saying something like "who knows, maybe this is all just a dream". But that would be terrible of course, seeing how the EC is supposed to clarify what happened.
