So I've installed the game on my pc but I can't even get beyond the opening dialoug before the game completely freezes. I had to take it out of full screen mode so that I didn't have to reboot my computer everytime.
There are some graphics tearing. I have more than enough juice to run this game (4gb ram, nvidia 8800gt), and it runs and looks great til it decides to freeze. I only have a couple gb left on my hd after installing this, would that have anything to do with it?
Game is crashing

I've got a nvidia 8800 gts and 4 gigs of ram but I have quite a bit of space left on the hard drive. I have had no problems whatsoever with the game running. I did install the latest drivers this weekend, could that be it? I am so glad I am not having any problems, knock on wood. Maybe if you free up some space it would work better, but I do not know.

I understand your pain i am having the same problems with crashing. i can play 10 to 15 min sometimes without it crashing but thats about it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling changing my graphics and resoluations but nothing is helping. The game itself runs good and looks good.

I had this same thing happen except that it totally destroyed my computer so that it needs to be repaired. Same graphics card and amount of RAM as you. BioWare is going to owe me a ton of money for the repairs.

I bet the game caused the alternator to go out on my car. It was working fine until I installed this game. Plus, my bank account is overdrawn now, so BioWare is gonna have to reimburse me for that as well. It's not MY fault that I only had $26 in the bank when I bought the game.

Other than the SPAM, which on its own is always off topic anywhere, you all were off topic; this thread is 24 days old. That day was the day that the game was released. This thread garnered no answers then. Later that same day, or early the following day, this single starting forum (this was in the original "General Subjects" forum, and was moved from there some time after it reached 24 days old), began to be split appart, with Character Creator and user to user Tech Discussion (it's called technical support, but it really isn't) being the first two.
After that point, this complaint and further additions to it were off topic here in the General Discussion forum(until the thread was moved). Official Support is still handled by EA. Bioware itself does not offer support.
social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/58/index/P/1
That link now leads to the Tech Forum, where this discussion now is topically correct.
Very interesting how that happened!

Checking out the link in Goraths post, but, I've had the game and played for longer sessions over the past few days. Today the game crashed regularly without fail every 30 mins.Is there a new upgrade I'm missing? I have 1.a and 1.b

I play for about an hour or so just fine until i enter certain rooms or zones then it crashes, i cant enter Wyrmling Lair without it freezing at the loading screen. Its annoy and its such an addicting game but the crashes need to stop. I have a brand new Dell xps 410 wtih Intel dual core 2 cpu and 4g of ram and plenty of space and NVIDIA Geforce 9800 gt. I doubt its the computer might just be vista being ****ty.

I'm having crash issues, as well, beginning today on a fresh game start. Tried uninstalling some of my mods, but that just makes the saves unusable. Also, after it crashes, when I try to reload the last save, it CTDs again, which means I have to go back to the save prior. Problems seem to be happening in Ostagar, had one new run get there, and after a few CTDs, enough saves were corrupt I decided to uninstall a couple mods and try again. Get to Ostagar, and CTD again.

I had the same issues. I have 4gb RAM, 8800gt video card. The game was simply making my computer and graphics card overheat. I installed another fan, and downloaded the Riva Tuner to up the speed of the fan on my video card. Haven't had any issues since.

My game crashes too I usually get to play about 15 to about a hour before it crashes. When the game is running it runs smoothly with all the settings on high. I have been playing Left for dead 2 for hours at a time with no crashing. I have monitored my CPU and video card temps they are all in the normal ranges.

hundreds of topics about this issue and no solutions? i have this problem as well. why did i buy this? it's crashing after 5 minutes playing and it seems to me that the admins dont care at all about this crashing issue. i read ALL the topics about this and there is NO solution. or they just dont know how to fix it? that would be very lame.

The one constant in the thread is nVIDIA sourced video cards. Except the last. They face far more driver problems these days than Radeon users do. Meanwhile, there have been no such "hundreds" of crashed game owner messages at all.

no hundreds but it is a lot. try to search "crash" and you will see. still, there is no solution for this. and this topic is 3 months old....

now i have found out, that it runs fine without crashes in windowed mode and if you have the same resolution ingame and in windows, it looks just like in fullscreen.

if you have an 8800 or 9800 you should use an old driver like the 180.48. Then everything works fine. Anyone tried out the newest driver (196.62)? Is it running fine now??

Fix for Crashing to Desktop on
Multi-core systems (also slows the memory leakage)
This applies
especially to AMD processors but also affects some Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2
quads!
For dual core set to CPU 1 only, for quad core set to CPU 2 and 3, for
i7s set to 4, 5, 6, and 7.
Set processor affinity
Open windows Task
Manager. Right click on the Taskbar of your windows vista desktop and select
Task Manager or press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Windows Task Manager
Click on
the Processes tab
Click on the Show processes from all users button, at the
bottom
Click the Continue button for UAC prompt
Right click the process
(application) whose processor affinity you want to change
Click Set Affinity
Check the CPU(s) that you want the process (application) to run on and click
OK
I have set this up and have not encountered a crash sence but I allso have not played much hope it helps.

Another thing to try is to uninstall the nvidia stereoscopic 3d driver that is installed during driver installation. Has worked for me so far. I've read that there has been issues with this.

This game has been a serious waste of money for all the god damn problems with it... I hope these aren't the same devs that are working on Mass Effect 2. Cause if so, I'm just gonna wait a month or two until I see that game isn't completely broken like Dragon's Age
