Are you suggesting that Diablo III takes no tactics or strategy to play? If so, I doubt that's true. I've yet to play a Blizzard game that would fit that description.
Alternatively, Diablo III will have more than eight maps.
Yes, the gameplay felt kind of dumbed down.
I'm not too worried about the maps in ME3 although more wouldn't be hurt. I've stopped ME3 for the same reason I won't play D3.
ME3 was interesting to me, it wasn't the typical PvP FPS game that is ooooh so popular. I've played enough of those that they all blend toghether and become the same game. Powers, coop... Was nice, and I enjoyed myself but as every game you get bored.
To me, D3 feels like all the uninteresting parts of a traditional hack slash game put into a shiny box. The only thing that seems nice is being able to change your characters abilities on the go.
Obviously there's plenty of interest in D3 so it's just me that finds the game dumbed down so a child can learn D3 before they can walk. I enjoyed games before when developers were experimenting and being innovative. Some games with huge complexity were made and I really enjoyed that.
Fewer games like that are being made today, more studios are developing games with a proven concept with small changes done. I want new stuff! Stop cloning!
It's like some movies that mindlessly go through things you've seen before and has been overdone, offers nothing new...
Horror: Teens come toghether due to holiday/party/etc and get killed off one by one by a silly bad guy and then one or two survives alternatively everyone dies then you go look under your bed if the ugly bad guy is there before you go to bed. The end.
Romance: Boy/girl meets boy/girl, love happens, crap happens, love happens the end. Alternatively: A shallow girl annoys the crap out of you and acts like a brat, makes a big deal about the biggest problem in their life which is to decide which shade of color on the lipstick they should use then you turn it off and realise your friends tricked you.
Comedy: A tomato walked down the street, poo was hilarious, and a dog humped something and someone did drugs. The end
Action: bang bang*100000000, the end.
Linnear, predictable and offers nothing new. But I'm a cranky cynical guy, I was actually pleasantly surprised by ME3 as I expected less. Only thing I was disappointed with was that the quarian sentry turret wasn't anything like the cerb engineer turret. Meh!
