My character classes are on level 18, 20, 18,16, 14 and 19. My "N7" level (next to my name) is therefore something abbove 100 now. How come some people have much higher numbers, what do they level up? After all your classes are on level 20, what do you do next? Do people reset the levels? How? I've seen youtube videos of players with highly advanced equipment and skill, but lvl 1 characters, how is that possible? Thanks

... and in case you weren't aware, if you promote your level 20 class, it will reset back down to level 1 again... but your N7 rating will go up. The N7 rating also seems to go up slowly over time... I haven't promoted anything in forever, but mine slowly has crept up from 100something to 192.

I never play a character at level 20. Too easy and stale for me, so... I promote as soon as I reach level 20. So far I promoted 70+ times and it never gets dull (I don't play any bronze matches either).

When you reach level 20 you have the option to promote your class to the single player and restart from scratch. these promoted characters count towards your galactic readiness rating. be aware though that a high N7 (achieved through multiple promotions) is not always indicative of a good player and conversely a low N7 doesn't mean that they are a noob (a lot of experienced players get there characters to level 20 but don't promote) and often have a N7 of 120 or 180 (if they promoted for operation raptor)

If you read the multiplayer section of the game manual you should find the section that deals with Galaxy at War (the multiplayer). You can promote classes which resets their level to 1 and gives you boost to War Assets in single player.
As you are just starting out may I strongly suggest that you begin by buy out the recruit packs until you have maxed out your common weapons and weapon mods. Then do the same with the veteran packs. This will keep the amount of *junk* you get in Specter and Premium Specter packs to a minimum.
You can also find your Multiplayer Manifest by going to My Games (far left here on the forum) > Mass Effect 3. This will help you track how much *stuff* you've unlocked.

Dude, now that's really interesting, I didn't know about that! Until now I've just been saving for premium specter packs and nothing else. Does this rational really work out, should I do it the way you proposed?
EDIT: Well, I've spent 90.000 on Recruit packs now. Got a lot of character customisation, shurikens and avenger's. Now, does that help me keeping the amount of junk down in the others? Do you even get shurikens and avenger's in Spectre Packs?
