Is any one else worried* about having possible cameos from past games in DA:3?  I am just afraid they'll do something like kill a past character off or just do something else horrible or that things like romance flags will get messed up.

*as much as one can be worried for fictional game characters

Bioware seems to be quite aware of the concerns about import flags, so I think they'll do their best to ensure that those get carried over properly.

Personally, I'm not too worried about what the writers may decide to do with certain characters and how they may appear or be mentioned in the games to come. I'm sure there could be some things that would make a bit wistful or sad, but all in all, if they tell a good story, I'm happy. Plus, I enjoy seeing those little winks and nods to previous adventures.

If I find out my Hawke and Anders broke up or he is dead, I’m going to stop playing the DA series.

I'm mostly concerned they'll kill off a major character from past Dragon Age games via novel, which not everyone will read.

Oh, wait.

See, I don't think I could handle that.  I would rather no mention/cameo if it's going to be unhappy.  I don't want drama for drama's sake unless it's something so spectacularly well done that one could say the character 'died a good death'.

Nah. I'm a tabletop RPGer. Product lines issue new handbooks that contradict a table's canon all the time; that's about how I see new DA properties. Take the best and leave the rest.

I'm worry they bring back Morrigan without my Cousland. Just like Leliana who conveniently lost my warden somewhere when she should had been traveling with him after DAO.

Not to mention, I killed Zevran twice in single playthough. Anders died in Awakening defending Virgil Keep and was killed by BioWare's Hawke in DA 2.

Kind of worried about more apparently dead characters coming back to life for convenience' sake, but otherwise not really. Curious what they intend to do about the import bugs though..

After the fiasco that was DA2 (and ME3's ending), I am strongly disinclined to ever touch a Bioware product again. Given my find memories of DA:O, I'll watch reviews of DA3, and if it looks like they really did learn from and correct DA2's mistakes, I might pick up the ultimate edition with all the DLC to save some money. Still, I am curious as to how they intend to explain Leliana's resurrection, for those who did kill her on their DA:O saves...

I did not think any of the cameos in DA2 looked right. In fact some were quite sickening. Add to that the appearance of dead followers from DA:O and I don't think BioWare put much effort in flags or anything else.

I hope there are no cameos at all in DA3. None. Zilch.

I agree with nerdage and LeBurns. The DA2 cameos looked wierd and the dead characters coming back to life almost ruined the series for me.

They have to pick diferent outcomes for romances. You can't have all of them with happy endings. At least this was done right in Mass Effect 3, it would be tottally dumb to have every love afair end the same - you made you choice now you have to live with it.

Maybe Hawke will be drunked loser in DA 3, because you romanced Anders, and he gone through another change and started whoring himself. So you end up like some despret houswife. Or on the other hand you might be dead, after templars catch you and burn you both at the stake for heresy against the Maker.

Those are the bad ends, you might also end up being lady of some province - a baroness, with Anders as you secret lover. Eeveryone of your subjects suspect you of being witch, but because you cut their taxes and help them with diseases/births, they like you and will rather say you are a saint or even reincarnation of Andraste.

The Maker did it.

Both Zevran and Alistair looked awful when they appeared in DA2. So if they are going to mangle Fenris and Isabela in the same way, I'd rather they not appear in DA3.

I guess I'm concerned about the import flags not importing correctly... and that they'll hit Cullen and/or Alistair with the ugly stick again if they show up LOL!

*Edit* I'd be gutted if they killed off Alistair or my Warden though... unless they died together in a heroic death, I could tolerate that, so long as they're together.

Sickening indeed. Take for instance DA2 version of Morrigan, which thankfully never saw the light of day:

i think as i mention a few times before, unless a character dies through a cutscene then they are absolutely dead, though the exception is a few characters in the final battle that turn on you in DA2(not enough of friendship/rivalry) if you look at it that way, if its part of the main story plot then they will also die, minus the bug with Zevran being alive. but thats just how i see, why some can return.

on a side note i welcome any cameos

Da2 cameo didn't convince me much.I liked Zevran , (yeah even his face!) it was funny but it didn't give much insight on anything , except cool he's alive!
Alistair almost gave me a heart attack "who iz this mane , Teagan!?" kind of feeling , now i'm used to it but again we only had small hint at what may be a war between Orlais and Ferelden.
As much as i want to have news about my da2 companion , maybe i prefer only hearing rumours about them.
Since we're playing another pc it's doesn't even feel like a reunion , it feels a bit off.

As far as cameos concern; if they do appear please let them look almost simular to the one in the previous game. It's not a soap opera/show which can have a(n) (almost) completely different face when an actor gets fired or quits.
And I really do not need someone who is dead in my previous game turning up in the next (not even the zombie type). Kills the gaming experience/descision making for me. Sorry for being blunt here.

I like the idea of cameos, but not the execution in DA2. Make the cameos more relevant to the plotline and have them around for more than 'hiya, PC person I don't know, let's kill some d00dz, okay byeeeee, PC stranger-person.' Like Nate and Zevran and all. If we can't make them important people in the world and plotlines, like Leliana and Morrigan have been made into (which I think all the LIs at least should be given high priority of importance), then don't have a cameo at all. It doesn't facilitate much of anything beyond a brief amusement and squee, and then it's forgotten about.

I would rather no mention/cameo if it's going to be unhappy.

I would rather not see cameo appearances full stop, personally. I could overlook, or even accept, cameo appearances from minor characters that barely anyone remembers - Ala Cullen.

Major Characters making cameo appearances? No.

If you want to bring back a previously *major* character, don't shove them in my face yelling "OH LOOK, LOOK, YOU REMEMBER HIM RIGHT? YOU LIKED HIM LOOK HE'S HERE".

Either integrate them into the plot as major character or don't bring them back at all.

They didn't really go into it but Leliana being back isn't that much of a strech considering you kill her next to the ashes which a mere pinch of revived Eamon as well as sustaining the guardian and all of the other guantlet things for 1000 or so years.
