I had that exact same connection.

Two things: 1. We have that already... 2. The inception end was only meant to excited but it did answer the question of whether he was dreaming.

Guys, I'm really scared about this EC. I'm sure it will "improve" the current endings, but I don't see any reason to believe IT is going to be proven correct. If anyone has any evidence to the contrary, please share.

I mean...they showed a picture of the scene explaining why Joker is leaving...which means it's real :(

Maybe he is telling the normandy to engage in a search and rescue for shepard?

C'mon!
What about the teleporting thing?
There is no possible way that he could have picked your squadmates up.
KEEP THAT IN MIND!

im saying maybe the whole thing is over, the teleport didnt actually happen, and now he wants them to conduct search and rescue. but i dont know and i wont know until EC comes out Posted Image

But are you forgetting about harbinger.
He would have made sure the place was clear.
and your squadmates looked fine when they were getting out of the ship.
And do you think they would think"Shepard didn't make it to the beam,so we wont even try"

but hackett saw the crucible open up. he had to have assumed it was Shep cuz, i mean, who else would it be?

No,i'm talking about the squadmates.think about it.
if they were alive they still would have ran to the beam since they were with you at that point.
And if there was search and rescue your squadmates would be badly injured and yet they get out of the normandy without even a scratch.

oh so are you talking about it from an IT point of view?

YES!!!

sorry, my bad Posted Image
but yea, i was under the impression we were discussing it from a literalist point of view

A "bye bye" that happens to need more space than LOTSB?

I've been saying it for months. There will be more to it.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but does anyone know how big the download is? Also, I KNEW it would be the 26th since announcement. First tuesday after summer started.

1.9GB. It says so there on the site.

Oops must have missed it. Thanks. Also, that is a very big download for "some epilogue scenes".

Oh God. I see we're in full on flailing mode now. Okay everybody, take a paper bag to hyperventilate into and remind yourselves that Jessica Merizan told us that EDI survives destroy because she's not Reaper tech. I'm just replace this bowl of M&M's with a bowl of valium and look the other way. Try not to overdose, okay?

Wow, interesting day. Have a little faith people. Lord knows I'm trying ^_^

Honestly the caption on the screen of Joker makes me feel a lot better about what's going to be in the ending. At first I thought they were going to try and explain why Joker was running away. But the order from Hacket is to disengage. Disengage does NOT mean retreat! It means stop attacking. Rendezvous? Why would they rendezvous outside of the system and leave the crucible unguarded if they weren't absolutely sure it fired and succeeded...

That would be one of the worst kick-in-the-balls ways for this to go down.
An ambiguous bullsh't ending, because salt in the wounds isn't enough, we need endless frustration too!

Still not given up hope, but expecting the worst.

So here is some of what Merizan has said:

- EC is about ~10 minutes, with multiple iterations based on the choices you make
- No new gameplay

I frankly don't see how 10 extra minutes with no combat could possibly be enough to "clarify" the ending in a way that leaves pretty much anybody satisfied, IT or not (I'm assuming there is no future ending DLC). Bioware has been listening to our many, many complaints, so surely they must understand that this will not pacify anybody. Putting all this effort in just to give us 10 minutes of cutscenes/dialog is just a massively stupid waste of time.

Since I don't believe that Bioware is stupid; and because of the "if you only knew what we had planned..." and "the EC was planned before the game was released" tweets, I am going to choose to believe that there is more going on than what they are telling us unless/until it is proven otherwise.

Perhaps I'm just reaching for emergency induction ports, but I just don't believe that BW could screw things up as badly as sounds like they are from Merizan's tweets.

That's my point.  I'm sure Jessica Merizan is a wonderful lady but she's about as reliable as a magic 8-ball.

I agree. Makes no sense to retreat to a different system if they weren't sure it would get the job done.

Nah, you're not.  It just stands to reason that if they were only making 10 minute cutscenes for a dozen or so different outcomes then they'd not be as excited about it as they were, nor would they take this long to make it.  And Jessica has been wrong many many times already.

And if we're wrong, so be it.  On Bioware's head be it.

Yeah, I find my Shepard constantly using the Avenger in cutscene (in all 3 games, despite not even being able to use one until 3...then never actually using it) and taking a pistol off her back where an assault rifle would be, but this seems different enough to question. The others are just how the cutscenes work but...they force you into using the Carnifex, so why switch it right at the last second to a Predator? Unless it's in Shepard's head and s/he's confused, it makes no sense that they would make an effort to do this.

True, but I mean that video was made by freezing the game and moving around the camera. Nobody would really notice the difference unless they did that, and it could just be an easter egg or something.

But just being an easter egg takes the fun out of speculating :P And they did want lots of speculation from everybody, after all. Either way, that being there is no accident and I just found it curious.

EVERYBODY LISTEN UP:

I think a lot of you are jumping to conclusions and getting upset over nothing. Really, very little has been told to us. Also, for those thinking the 1.9 gb means that it will be a massive DLC, not neccesarily true. That 1.9 gb has content specific for many playthroughs. So a specific Shepard may only experience 200 or 300 mb of that content. So, I don't think it really means that there will be gameplay, and the cinematics will probably be around the 10 to 15 min range. Certainly less than what I'd hoped. But still, it could be awesome.

Merizan's statement in regards to the memory: https://twitter.com/...317286460559364

But has the IT been disproven? Most definitely not. If anything Bioware continues to remain vague about it. And why? Merizan said that the EC won't directly confirm the IT, but that we will get to decide its validness. Also, she said most of the content (I find this odd) will take place BEFORE the beam. So... they DID change the end missions? Hmm. Why else unless they had something to EXPLAIN. Seriously, if the IT isn't true, we only need extensions of the END, not the missions. HOWEVER, if the IT is true, then it would make complete sense for Bioware to go back and plant even MORE hints and try to infer the IT even more thouroughly.

Perhaps this was their goal all along with the EC. I recall Arian's blog, which pretty much pin pointed this. They intended IT, but did not intend the EC. In other words, they expected more people to 'get it', and yet many did not.

It is quite possible and even likely that all of this 'pre-beam' content will be scenarios/events that further suggest the IT. Bioware doesn't want to just say, "HEY YOU'RE INDOCTRINATED, HURP DERP!", that would not be 'artistic'. What they CAN do is make things a little clearer, a little more defined, and clue us more on what is ACTUALLY happening.

This is just my interpretation of what what might happen. I personally think its very likely, but I'll leave it up to you guys to determine whether my point is a valid one or not. I just see no reason why we would need pre-beam content to explain the post-beam nonsense unless it had something to do with further fleshing out the whole 'Shepard is fighting off indoctrination' subplot. I mean, what else is there to add pre-beam? How can you explain space magic and star child BEFORE you even encountert them, without the IT? I mean... really.

Also, I find it weird that Merizan said most of the new content will be pre-beam, but also said no new combat will take place. Well... then what the hell will happen pre-beam? Almost ALL of that is combat and dialogue.

Either way, things will be interesting tuesday. But don't dig your graves yet, boys. Nothing has been denied or confirmed, as usual, and so none of you should be losing hope. 4 more days.

Either it will be amazing, or it will suck balls. I highly doubt the latter. Bioware knows this is win or lose. I expect great things. Though I will not get my hopes up. I expect greatness out of Bioware, but I will not hold my breath.

Regardless, be encouraged because of what I've said. I hope I was able to offer a little light. Just keep positive, mates. No reason to despair. ;)

I got some more math for you guys.  I checked a 90 meg .bik FMV.  It was 56 seconds.  That's about 1.6 megs a second.  10 minutes of SOLID, WALL TO WALL full motion video would only bring us to 960 megs.  Less than half the size of EC.

Dear Mass Effect Community,
1.9 gigs of EC being 10 minutes of content?  I call bull****.
Sincerely,
Basic Math
