Hell, ask her if the kid's real or not at the beginning of the game. That might be interesting in any instance.

His "You can't help me." certainly did seem forced didn't it?  I just think it was heavy handed symbolism though.

I dunno, I get the same sort of vibe from the kid at the beginning as I do the twin girls in The Shining.

I still maintain that just about any writer could and would write a sniveling kid who wants to latch onto Shepard for dear life, which would be the default reaction. Same resolution, same death could happen, same symbolic result.  But no, this kid felt ... off in his language, almost eerie and prophetic. This doesn't have to mean IT, by the way, just that BioWare wants us to look deeper into what we're seeing.

That's what I meant, a forced and heavy handed symbolism.  Shep wants to save everyone but right at the start here's a kid he tries to help, the same kid he watched play while he sits in "confinement" and fails.  It plagues him throughout the game.

Are you reading Jessica's post on her twitter. She is talking about something that depends on who we can get a good ending.

I recall early on someone asked BW whether the kid was ever real. The answer was, and I quote, "What do you think?"

BleedingUranium wrote...

I mentioned that in my above post. Basically, I think, especially since there's additional stuff before the beam, that they're going to add a lot more IT hints and stuff, so people get it this time. That also fits in with them being so surprised by the initial reaction to the ending.

No. Not good enough. They need to confirm or kill IT. None of this ambiguous crap. I think that's about the only thing that the great majority of IT'er sand literalists agree on. Besides which, leaving IT up in the air still means the Reapers aren't beaten. Completely unacceptable.

I'm with Rifneno. This ambiguous sh!t is what pissed us all off in the first place. You can be unambiguous and still artsy, Bioware. <_<

He might have just ment they'll add more IT hints but not make it vague.

And that's what I mean: the heavy-handed symbolism could have been done much simpler.  This feels premeditated, and ethereal.  At least to me. Not to mention the fact that the kid disappears without making a peep in the echoing vent, and nobody actually sees the kid other than Shepard.

I don't have much hope for a happy ending for my Shep in the @ME3 EC I'd like to say I love @GambleMike & @JessicaMerizan for talking to us

@JessicaMerizan
@TLCece thank you :) I appreciate it. Happy ending I think depends on who your Shep is and what motivates them. I have hope though.

I wish they'd give us a "Reapers win" ending. I'd just go with that and forget about the space magic.

And the Reaper growl, and the dreams, and the Catalyst. On one hand IT seems 200% true, but based on what BW is giving us it sounds like delusion. I feel like I'm in two worlds.

I'm a kid in a warzone who got chased by techno-zombies and hid in a room that got fried by molten metal flung by a reaper mass accelerator. Oh here comes an Alliance soldier.

" Hey little buddy. Come on out. I'll get you somewhere safe."

What to say. what to say. what to say. oh man I just peed my pants.

" you can't help me"

oh why did I say that? Now he's looking away. damn, I'm so embarassed. I'll just sneak down the vent with the ninja skills mom and dad taught me that I didn't use against the husks that were after me earlier.

I'll admit, even I'm having doubts at this point.  However, I still think that IT is going to be what they do.  It just seems too obvious once you know what you need to look for.

Hmm, I just hope for an explanation on how Shepard survived in the destroy ending cinematic, Considering it defies both everyday science and logic I'd like an explanation that doesn't need me to rewrite the rules of physics and thermal dynamics to have it make sense.

But what is the point of making a giant switcheroo and then telling no one?  Movies with huge twists actually reveal them.  If they had tried a reveal that ME3 was all a dream, I actually would have asked for my money back.  Nothing is lamer than trying to walk back your artistic choices by disavowing the reality of your made up world.  Boxing Helena for instance made me want to puke.

I know what you mean. Well, if nothing else Bioware know how to do suspense. All of the symbolism and seemingly deliberate incongruities and oddities in the game must mean something though.

of course then, people will just tell you you have confirmation bias, like that automatically explains why the duck shouldn't be walking, quacking, and flying like a duck.

Like I said, there's a difference between poor writing and IT being correct.  Why for instance would a Reaper blast two defenseless shuttles rather than targeting the Normandy just hovering there a couple hundred yards out with its pant down after having just blasted a bunch of Cannibals?  You know why?  Because then the game would have lasted only 10 minutes.  Carping about some lacuna in the writers' reasoning is fine, if ultimately pointless.  Demanding that what you think makes sense should be substituted is not fine.

At this point, EC looks like it will either be IT and awesome or it will be the most depressing moment in storytelling ever in the history of everything. I'm not seeing much grey at the moment...

I get what you're saying, and I would like IT confirmed (or deconfirmed), but I think with so many clues, hints, and similar, they might not ever say for sure, you'd just be expected to understand it.

Well they already tried that. This thread is a product of that vision.
