I will admit Ieldra and Jtav and others have put a lot of thought into their alternate theories. I don't agree with them because what they believe violates the themes of the series. I.T. is only icing on the cake. Even without IT, Control and Synthesis still reek of Reaper.

Control seems like the practical approach. Control the Reapers. End the war. The Citadel is intact. None of your allies have to die.

I understand some people think that Control is a Reaper trap, but nothing in the game really suggests that Shepard will become corrupt and lose control.

The inaudible sound is actually a really interesting point and an intelligent addition by BioWare. Theoretical? Yes. Proof of indoctrination? No. Then again, gravity is only a theory, so take what I just said how you will.

Rifneno: Even as you jest, just by using the word "us," you imply that you do.

Comes to chat thread to share his "obviously superior" knowledge...<_<

calls others narcissist :wizard:

I never stated, nor implied superior knowledge.  I came in for conversation because I don't think the IT is what actually happens at the end.  The narcissism bit was simply because as I shared a different view, I was bombarded by posts, like your own, that are attempts to be funny instead of discussion.

You came in with an arrogant, aggressive, condescending tone. That is not conversation, that is verbally attacking someone. Learn to communicate like a mature adult.

Actually, no.  I came in with a question and was bombarded with arrogant, aggressive, and condescending posts.  And you're right, that's not a conversation.  Any time I present anything, I get "lol denial," "insert meme here," "we we we, and us us us."  Let me know how to talk to that, and I'll ignore the irony of your last sentence.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with him on this, his first post was asking a question and it wasn't really all that condescending.  perhaps it seemed that way since EVERY anti-ITer uses that same question to try and debunk the theory, and we have had to give information that proves that the argument is at best, inconclusive based on actual lore evidence.

So I apologize on behalf of the thread, even if alot of them don't want to apologize, I think it was unfair for us to gang up on you like that.  but please try to understand we've been bombarded by trolls for the last two days since the announced EC, claiming that the theory is dead or whatever and it had gotten alot of us agitated, plus we are just tired of having to answer that same question over and over again, but still that's no excuse for the less than warm welcome you recieved.

*sigh* I'm sorry, but anyone who comes in here and automatically says I.T. is debunked and tries to argue against it without doing the research is fair game.

Research 1000 pages of conjecture so I don't get blasted the moment I ask a question?

The very first page of this thread has links to all the information you need. All you had to do was look at it.

You came into the thread with a statement to the effect of "you are wrong because Javik"

The assumption is based off of the supposition that because two Prothean VIs created late in the war were able to detect the presence of nearby fully indoctrinated individuals heavily modified by reaper technology, all Protheans are able to immidiately dectect any amount of indoctrination.

This has actually been discussed here quite a bit allready.

It also indicates a clear unfamiliarity with what IT does and does not state.

On the first page of this post are links to web pages and videos that attempt to summarize IT, and most of them list both the most compelling arguments and counter arguements. If you really want answers, I would suggest starting by looking at those.

Many of the people here are receptive to constructive criticism, but if that was your intent, your entry wasnt the best way to start.

The way you phrased your question, combined with how often people bring it up as if they're the first ones in history to think that Javik/Prothean VI somehow disprove IT came together to evoke the aggressive response you got.

Which is why it is so hard to have a different point of view.  Perceived inflection doesn't warrant aggressiveness.

While you may have a point, you should consider that we don't have a problem with your point of view as long as you don't come and start trying to rain on our parade.  If you don't believe in the IT, fine.  If you hate our guts and think we're all nuts (Hey, that rhymed. :D), fine.  However, if you come in here for no other reason than to TELL us that we're nuts and try to dissusde us from doing something that we all love doing, THEN we're going to be upset.  Jeez, why can't you people just let us speculate in peace  !?  Do I need to do this in all caps?  Fine.  WE DO NOT COME TO YOUR THREADS TO TELL YOU PEOPLE THAT YOU'RE NUTS!!!!  WE WOULD LIKE A LITTLE OF THE SAME COURTESY IN RETURN!!!!

I've read his thread. You have to do a lot of mental gymnatics to believe Synthesis is real in a game that pays close attention to physics. And it has no precedent other than husks and reapers. So there's that....

People with implants don't count because they are mostly organic.

Synthesis is a logistical nightmare:

Billions of species and mechanical beings must first be defined and identified, due to the vast variables of construction techniques. Simply saying "molecule X will connect to attachment site B" won't cut it. We're talking about a varitable rewriting of both the individual physical and psychological characterists of a being, as well as it's relationship between other synthesized creatures.

For one to be capable of doing that in the flash of an eye is not science, it's godhood.

No, remember it's magic!! :wizard: To be serious, magic is technology that we don't understand yet.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. :pinched:

Oh, wait, here's an idea: We've been systematically destroying and re-writing life for millions of years. Individuals have been painfully stripped of their bodies, free wills and everything they care for and "reprogrammed" to operate as part of a space commune for all eternity. But now we're changed our minds. Millions of years and uncountable lives be damned! We decided to hit the instantanious harmony button, that we just happened to forget about.

Know what that reminds me of? This...

I know, I would just love to know why what we interpret in the game seems to ****** in their Cheerios.

Depends on context, I get "mad" when:

-ITist's think there theory is undisputable fact
-When above happens and they call people who disagree dumb (even if  it's passive aggressivly)
-Think anyone who disagree's with them is against IT as an ending
-Think that all literalist's are worse than them because___or Think that there better than all Literalist's because___

I get annoyed when:

-ITist's try and use semantics to make Bioware seem like there supporting IT when there clearly doing the opposite
-When ITist's have a clear confirmation bias towards there "evidence"

I think IT is a great fan theory and definitly better then our current endings , but in the same way I think it'd be great when you died if you got unlimited blowjobs and your nuts massaged whenever you want it. That dose not mean I'm willing to believe it or that it's true.

Adding on to my last post:

Controlling the Reapers is an unethical means to win the war. But the series is plagued with examples of how this is not necessarily a bad thing. A big one is how Mordin used Maelon's data to extract a cure to the genophage, despite the fact that the cure had unethical means.

After playing through Horizon, the idea of control being a viable option became clear. There are so many parallels between Horizon and Maelon's data that it's crazy.

No. No. No. To choose synthesis is to AGREE with the reapers. To support their ultimate goal. In no way are you making the reapers osolete. The reapers already believe themselves to be the pinnacle of evolution which means they would most favor an indoctrinated Shepard supporting the idea of synthesis.

Ok, so to be clear, I view the reapers as a seperate entity from the actual creator of "the cycle."  So synthesis would make the reapers obsolete because it ends the cycle, which would mean that the reapers (tools of the cycle) are no longer needed.

I honestly haven't the slightest clue what you mean when you say the reapers would be made obsolete. What they have been doing for billions of years essentially IS synthesis. They harvest entire civilizations to what they consider to be the pinnacle of evolution which, last time I checked, they believe they are.

I even threw down some Harbinger and Sovereign quotes to prove my point.

Harbinger:
“Evolution cannot be stopped.”

“I am the Harbinger of your perfection.

“Progress cannot be halted.”

“We are the Harbinger of your destiny.”

“We are the Harbinger of your perfection.”

“We are your genetic destiny.”

Sovereign:
Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die. We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything.

Trap-threads?  Wait, could you give me an example of these "trap-threads"?

Also, if by "trap-threads" you mean threads that are meant to be places of discussion about IT that other people came to for no other reason than to start arguing, then I don't think you can use that as an excuse.

To believe that requires one to believe that Star-Brat is actually the creator of the cycle rather than some little, crap filled Reaper punk.  That's something I refuse to believe.

Where does it state that the Catalyst created himself or the cycle?  <---Entirely non-rhetorical.  If someone created him, then yes, he would be like a reaper.  But that would mean that there was someone (or even a group of beings), at some point, that created the Catalyst and the reapers to fulfill a role that became obsolete once the cycle was over.
