Its an alternative interpretation.  Bioware wanted speculation.  The only reason EC exists is because people were angry about the literal ending.  Not because people thought It was right, and they wanted to disprove it.

I reconize there not technically debunking IT, but anything other then comfirming it is pretty much a tacid admission that it's not true. You may feel differently but that's just my personal opinion.

Confirming IT would ruin the surprise. In fact not denying it seems more indicative than anything to me as by playing loose with the idea if it is not true is simply setting up your fan base for another fall. If they simply went and denied IT we could move on and wouldnt feel any disappointment when EC disproved it, but now they have been vague about it for 3 months.

That is a long time teasing people who you will ultimately disapppoint if It is not in some way true.

INDOCTRINATION THEORY HINGES ITSELF ON THE ENDING NOT CHANGING, SINCE IT PRESUPPOSES THE INTENTION HAVING ALWAYS BEEN THERE.

Quod erat demonstrandum.

The intention dose not mean it was always there though, I get what your saying but it seems like a copout to me.  I guess we just have to agree to disagree on this issue.

Not to be Rifneno (which is to say, offensive) But that's a politician's answer.

You are trying to find middle ground. There is no middle ground here, either you agree with our assessment, or you do not.

Don't give us this "technically" bull****. Technicalities are for lawyers and aerospace engineers, there is either Bioware explicitly stating that IT is wrong, or there is not. Since there is not, we will continue with our assessment.

What you are doing is is the age old practice of trying to say that you are not completely wrong, even when you have been proven to be so. I advise you stop that. Admit a faux pas, adjust your argument and move on.

*mutters something about not knowing latin to make myself seem smarter*

:P

Quid quid latine dictum sit. Altum videtur.

"Anything said in Latin sounds profound."

Also, Quod erat demonstrandum = QED = What is, is what was shown.

Again, I have to explain this clearly.

Stating that the EC contains IT would be a spoiler.  It would anger people on both sides.

I get that, but they also said it wouldn't be confirming IT which is a spoiler in and of it's self.

Andromidius wrote...
Stating that IT is what happens in the story would ruin the immersion and feel very dumbed down.  This would anger a lot of people on both sides.

I'm not sure I get exactly what you mean.

If you mean that having Shepard "wake up" and continue the fight against the reapers would ruin immersion and feel dumbed down I completely disagree.

If you mean that stating IT is true without Shepard wakeing up then I do agree, but then again if that happened  we would technically not have an actual ending and I'd still be pissed.

Andromidius wrote...
Adding a few extra subtle hints or clarity to what happened wouldn't be changing the ending.  It would be improving the build up to the ending.

And opinions can be wrong, just saying.

Do you think they are going to be releasing more ending DLC? If so to me it dose not make much sense either in sense of story or in business. Statistics show that the later you release dlc the less people buy it and I doubt bioware is going to release another dlc for free.

It also begs the question why they wouldn't just put in the actual ending with this dlc.

I don't agree with your assessment. But at the same time language is subjective , what means one thing to you means a different thing to somebody else.

I don't think I've been proven wrong at all, I think we just have a disagreement that has no objective solution.

That's fine , I'm just saying to me at least that if IT is not confirmed then it's wrong.

Their statement basically amounted to "We are neither confirming nor denying this." That is not a spoiler, it's not even a statement, it's the lack of a statement.

The idea behind IT is that Shepard is not the important entity being indoctrinated, You are, with Shepard being your agent allowing for interaction with the ME universe. Basically, in the end you are taking the role of Shepard's Ego.

You are aware then that by that logic, which by the way IS a confirmation bias, since I could just as easily claim that by it not being commented on at all means that it is close to the truth, that you are also rejecting the theories of Universal Gravitation, Evoloution, Relativity and a number of others, since they are not "confirmed"? Just putting things into perspective.

OOOH, ME! ME!
... Actually I find it offensive being grouped in with lawyers

I think the real hole in his reasoning is "they have not revealed what would amount to an epic spoiler in advance = there is nothing epic to spoil".

Seems daft to me.

Now
that I've checked out what you're getting I'm starting to think you're
getting the better bang for your buck.190k is pretty affordable for what
it is but lets just say it took some 'persuading' with the wife ...
might wait before I mention the running and maintenance costs.

That's got to...hurt [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie]

Also,
you can convince her to let you spend $190k on an aircraft, you can
convince her that a $1200 speedwing is also a good idea [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]
Think about it - if you're flying the speedwing, you can't be flying
the aircraft, which means you're not spending money on fuel or
maintenance that day.

It's an investment, really [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

Since you're not accepting our explanations, how about you tell us a way that the endings could be clarified and the majority of the content could be before the beam run without IT?

This one can finally post in this thread now, and was wondering where you were. =)

I finally get my own copy of the game, only to come home and find out about the release of the EC. =\\

I've been playing multiplayer like crazy, just to get my galactic readiness up so I can get the breath scene. Although it seems like they're lowering the threshold with the EC, for people who can't play multiplayer. Not sure, but there was talk about this anyway.

Congratulations!

Looks like these are the Final Hours of the IT thread. Or not, if they still leave everything ambiguous. It would be a disappointment, but it would mean the speculating could continue. I'm kind of torn, haha.

Totally off topic:

How hard can it be to create a squad with only vorcha, batarians and krogan? This weeks challenge is impossible.

The final days of this thread maybe. But someone (Salient I believe) put it quite eloquently.

We are IT. And we will never die.

Having issues too.  Currently have Vorcha/Krogan/Krogan/Human.

Dammit.

Edit: Not to mention random disconnections from games for NO REASON.

I somehow believe Jessica's tweets that the EC won't tackle IT at all. So I don't really think that the EC will provide anything more than even more speculative material for us.

That is also backed up by your awesome theory of BW's year-plan, which, just as IT, makes absolute sense.

But if she didn't tell the truth, and the EC will give us insight into indoctrination, well, then someone will still have to fight off the total anti-IT troll apocalypse.

So it's not over yet.

I'm just wondering how they can add 10+ minutes of material and still manage to keep it ambiguous.
