I might even go back on my 'wait and see what everyone else says first' promise, and just go play it anyway and make up my own mind. And then come see what everyone else said.

I am, but only because I fear for the worst
Well, to my mind, the only thing that could be worse than the thing we have now, is the introduction of the infamous rainbow-coloured ending (or a purple coloured one). Everything else would be crap, too - but not of worse quality than the crap we have now

Why? What do I have to lose? The respect of people I don't even know or care about? Oh no, that would be terrible!

But how can you get by thinking that strangers who seem to think that having a different view on the ending is equivalent to pissing in their cheerios?
Also, I think Florida is going to float away soon because of this tropical storm. It's right above my home.

Nah. I have my own personal interpretation(s) of what I've seen, based on the intended narrative proper, and they'll remain as such until BioWare offers something otherwise.

I'm just brainstorming about the entire last 20 minutes of the game being indoc. attempts - and everything is actually going on in Shepard's mind.
Now I agree with all of this - but here's the thing: What does that make the crucible?
On the main Mass Effect wiki it states:
"It is unknown who initially began the development of the Crucible."
And why would a device - which was designed to counter the reapers - have options to control them or form an alliance with them - in the first place?
It seems to me that the logical course of action in breaking a cycle in which civilization is destroyed over and over again - it would require the destruction of the reapers (which is why I also believe destruction is the only true ending).
But then why create a device which could also do other things?
I'm starting to form another theory here - that the crucible is actually a lie.
Perhaps - even created by the Reapers.
Legion says something similar in ME2: The geth created a fabrication about stars which a group of people believed to be proof of their gods.
It was a social experiment that the geth ran.
I could very well see the same thing being done with the crucible.

It's also stated that for some EDI came out in Destroy, for which the most plausible thing to say is it's a bug because it only occurs for a very small minority. For dead people coming out of the Normandy with medium-low EMS, if true, the most reasonable explanation would be that they just missed to set the dead boolean for them, resulting in this. Similar to the missing check if Tali is dead or alive right before the attack on Cronos Station.Earthborn_Shepard wrote...

well, there's kinda low EMS, and there's very low EMS. With very low EMS, yeah, nobody gets out. With middle EMS, he's right.
Oh, believe me, it has been known to happen.

Well, there was my (not so significant) notion about resemblance between Alliance Cruiser and structural objects where the "1M1" is labeled into. But everyone was seemingly busy feeding the trolls and arguing with the literalist for the thousanth time. Oh well.

I actually think that makes more sense than the other endings, that would mean an easy incorporation of a boss fight. I think the idea itself is overused and would rather many more ending variants but it's better than the one we're given.Earthborn_Shepard wrote...
Just remembered.. a few days before the release, I was watching some ME-related stuff on youtube, and somebody tried to troll and apparently spoiled the ending. He said that at the end of ME3 you would upload a virus into the "reaper king" (guess he meant Harby) and then the other reapers would get disorientated. At the time I was like "FUUUUUUUUUU" but.. yeah.. he probably just tried to be cool...

merizan did say that EDI surviving on destroy is not a bug, it's in the video you're seeing right now.

Uhm medium-low EMS where you see dead crew members and supposedly see them coming out of the Normandy isn't easy to achieve, the min/max EMS for that would be pretty close together. Not setting a bool is hard to miss sometimes. I've got some experience in programming too, and it happened more then once.Earthborn_Shepard wrote...

For Tali: if you romance her but she dies (either in 2 or 3) she will come into your cabin and might spend the night before the attack with you.

Yeah, most of us believe the crucible is the equivalent of the Reapers giving organics a hamster wheel to run in right before they crush them with an anvil..
