Not sure. Interesting he isn't called "the Catalyst," though. Maybe not...but maybe.

As far as I know in the original script the kid is "The Guardian" and Javik is "The catalyst". Also, there may have been something about the "gardian's garden" but I don't remember. That would shed light of some weird tree things in the game though.

True strike, Ownage, doubt they put the tags in there just for fun and was more than likely to try and avoid "but how do we KNOW that's Shepard?" kind of statements even though we still get them.

Also I think we can assume Shepard, as an Alliance soldier, wears dog tags like any other soldier we just don't see them under the armor/clothes. The only times we've ever seen them is in LotSB, when Anderson tosses them to you/reinstates you, and the breath scene.

Yeah that would make sense but Shepard doesn't wear them when in his/her undies Posted Image

Oh wow... I just read the news about the EC being released tomorrow and I feel like ****. No wonder everyone is so quiet here.

So, what should we think now? It totally feels that IT was a well thought possibility but they really dropped it. The patterns are there, buried in the data, but at some point they just gave up?

After all of this, they truly were lazy... dude, I'm soo sad about this. I should wait until tomorrow and all, but still...

uh... they never said they dropped it. In fact, one quote was "If you believe in IT, the EC won't change that".

Yeah, of course they never said that. They never will. That's exactly what bothers me. That quote just makes me think the possibility will still be there. They won't fill most of the "holes" some people here found and at the same time they won't confirm anything about IT.

So they will go on with the endings as they are, satisfying the literlists, but keep some things open for us.

Don't know about you guys, but it all sounds crappy to me. I'm pretty sure that if IT was going to be the major revelation of the EC they would've just said nothing about it. That sentence you quote pretty much ruins the possibility of a big surprise.

Well, course, they might get in the way [/shrug]. But still, in combat I mean, he/she would likely wear them.

Opposite. If IT is true why would they spoil it? And they can't fix the plotholes without IT. I mean why would they make an extended vague ending that won't satisfy anyone? Either it's as bad as now, or it's better. It won't be worse.

Addendum: if IT isn't true then why don't they just come out and say it now that EC is coming out?

Hm, is it possible they crafted EC with room for IT to be an interpretation........ Speculation overload! Waiting a day+ isn't that bad, will see once the time comes.

I'm pretty sure this has been talked about and I know the EC is almost here but I figured I'd say this, didn't Shepard armor in the breath scene seem to be more intact than it was after you get hit by the beam? I could see N7 on the armor in the breath scene but I don't remember seeing N7 on the armor after the beam. Maybe I missed it but just thought I'd ask :)

Was it N7 on his armor or was it his dog tags you saw?

Hmm It might have been the dog tags now that I think about. I have to see it again but it probably was the dog tags.

The armor is almost exactly how it is after the beam, the only N7 you can see is on the dog tags (just checked my own recording several times). The only noticable difference: there's more blood on the armor/exposed areas that we can see in the breath scene than there are pre-breath scene.

Fun fact, there's 4 drops of blood on the N7 tag.

FOUR drops? FOREshadowing?!? Coincidence? I think not. [/jk]

Yeah, but a lot of us looked to IT as the solution to the many problems in the ending, that it wasn't just nonsense, but in fact a clue that there would be a greater reveal. They've pretty explicitly said that this reveal will no longer be taking place, which means we're pretty much stuck with the ending we had, but moreso. So no, you don't have to give up on IT, you just have to give up on it being confirmed in the EC.

Sounds crappy to me, too. I'm severely disappointed. It sounds dumb, but when I first did the ending, I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it the way everyone else seemed to. Then I discovered IT and a great well of hope sprung up in me, that the ending was secretly, beautifully brilliant. That well has drained almost to the last drop in the last two days. In a way, this is worse than the ending being bad, because it first was merely bad, and then it dangled the possiblity of it not only being not bad, but being brilliant... then it was bad again. The drop has been precipitous.

It doesn't mean I regret the good times spent in this forum, listening to yon excellent people's thoughts. That was fun, and that can't be reversed. But the potential for brilliance... yeah, that's gone, to my mind. It seems clear they want to leave it open ended. There can be some fun in that, maybe. We'll see.

I'm not paying much attention to the recent info. It's all crafted. Again, I don't think Bioware is stupid enough to work on this EC for months and have it be vague. ITists don't want that. Literalists don't want that. I also don't think EA would let them.

Oh I don't think EA would let them be ANYTHING but vague.

This is EA. EA likes money. Money comes from fans. A vague ending will annoy some of them, but an ending straight out denying or confirming IT will enrage far more. And enraged fans are bad buyers.

Well, I meant on a human vanguard specifically. Shockwave is worthwhile on other classes, but a complete waste on human vanguards.

Shockwave is the second most annoying power in the game, beaten only by nova. Shockwave doesn't have a screen shake, it has a screen earthquake, and most people forget that when they're spamming it right next to teammates who coincidentally suddenly lose the ability to hit the broad side of a barn. Just a friendly reminder to anyone that uses shockwave.

I don't think Shep was talking to himself. I was on the datapad app yesterday after finishing Priority: Rannoch in a new playthrough and there was a message from Garrus which said: "Glad you were the one to talk to the Reaper. I would've just shot it some more for spite."

Have I mentioned lately that Garrus is incredibly awesome? Because he is.

So if the literal endings are true, I guess this isn't destroy. It could be synthesis and I doubt it's control. Thoughts?

Heh, I'm starting all the way from Cronos Station, supposedly they added a few bits to that (according to some "tweets" so, y'know, taken with a grain of salt). Anyway, I doubt I'll be sleeping much Tuesday night. I'd be playing it all day but I've got work -_-

I erased my own quote to avoid a huge message :)

Exactly my point, actually. If IT is true why would they make such a lame comment as they did? "If you believe in IT the EC won't change that" come on, that's pretty lame. That's like saying they won't even try to fill in ANY hole and just add some touchy crew scenes. Then we ITers can assume that's Shepard goodbye dream or final thoughts to them while the rest say "aaaw" and the ending stays the same.

And of course they can't fix the plotholes without IT... properly. They can, sure, but for most of us it will sound like plain bulll****. That's what I'm actually scared of.

I'm so damn pessimistic right now. I can't help it.

I was pessimistic until I reviewed all we have going for us. It just wouldn't make sense not to do IT in some way. I'm open to the possibility that they won't, but let's just wait till it comes out and remember what ITists have always said: It doesn't need to be IT, as long as it's good. Posted Image

Shepard talking to Adams about the drive core...

Shepard: "Do your job or get vaporized"
Adams: Pretty much

Also, some Desolas Arterius quotes...
(Desolas was Saren's brother, and was indoctrinated)

Desolas Arterius: I have a monolith too – And like his, mine is an evolution accelerator. Too long there has been parity between the races on the Citadel. When any upstart race can enter as equals, it’s time to change the equation. It’s time to bring the myths to life.

Jack Harper: I’m telling you again, you don’t know what you’re dealing with. Ancient classics aside. There’s more to your monolith than just an evolutionary jump start. It’s dangerous!
Desolas Arterius: Exactly what I would expect from a racial partisan! Standing in the way of Turian destiny!

Desolas Arterius: Imagine a legion of turians – evolved to a state of ultimate physical perfection! Never resting – Never yielding!

Desolas Arterius: Nonsense! We’re pacifying the Meta-Turians. Recall the forces outside. I just need to… adjust the experiment.

Synthesis, lol...

Nite dude. I guess we will still be debating a couple of things after the release, but yeah.

"This is it everyone"

P.D. Actually, I got annoyed at the ridiculous amount of times "this is it" was said during the final mission -.- lazy, lazy Bioware...

I'm somewhat inebriated atm, but this is the only thing I read and was able to read quickly and realized that's all I kind of care about lol...especially since I've considered the ending DLC might not be as fufilling as I'd hoped. To be more accurate the current failure of an ending has had such a long time to stew and fester in my mind that no alternate or more explanative ending will even seem canon/logical unless Bioware actually takes the criticisms and interpretations from the fans to heart.
