There is one thing I really don't understand.
In the eventuality that the IT is going to be disproven in the upcoming EC DLC, I think that by letting the theory grow this much among the fans withuot ever denying it or at least toning it down, they are going to get even more rage than the one they are trying to cool down.
Thats because they have let a consistent part of the fans (and potential buyers of future -PAID- dlc) hope in something the developers know they weren't going to deliver.
I think that this kind of approach would have had much more sense if the EC was going to be paid, because they would have raised the expectation and gained profit from the curiosity of the speculating fanbase. On the contrary by making it free they will definitely download it, be pi^^ed off and stay away from future dlc, and bioware will not even get any revenue from the first -and surely most downloaded- dlc for ME3.
What i don't understand is why they didn't do anything to prevent the fans to go too deep into speculation. In my opinion they should have had avoided to create such a myth if they it wasn't true.
Sorry for my english, i hope you get what i mean.
Potential outcome, yes. But even if IT is not true they still have fans, and regardless it's possible they have something even more complex than IT or anything else we can think of going on. We can't know for sure of anything until the time comes.
And I believe they meant us to go into heavy speculation, otherwise a few choice things would have been much clearer about the end. Perhaps we'll see that in the EC.
I know that a lot of fans (most?) aren't "believers"... but I think that speculation gone so wild (and IT has reached the top in the history of games that i'm aware of), when it is finally disproven, may be very damaging, even if it doesn't affect the totality or even the majority of the fanbase.
They've said repeatedly that the EC will not "confirm nor deny IT" and that if you believe IT, the EC will not change that. We will see what the implications are when the EC comes out.
Thank you for being concerned for us thoughi'm more concerned about the EC being a disappointment
Can you please provide me the source? i didn't knew they said that, i just listened to the interview that was released with the announcement and i don't remember that particular point.
Here are a few from Jessica Merizan's twitter:

Thank you. I wonder what kind of closure-adding dlc would leave that kind of question open but then again... we'll see tomorrow.

I'm pretty disappointed right now that the EC will only add like 10 minutes (and I'm afraid that at least 3 of that will be optional ME2 romance sexytime)
I would have hoped for 30 but I guess time was too short for that
Reservations. Hopes. Save them for Tuesday. [/salute]
10 minutes...
for each kind of playthrough, based off sheer variability.
I'd call that pretty substantial.
Yeah and 1.9 gigs worth as well.
As for Jessica Merizan's posts I think she's refering to a very specific playthrough of hers, and we shouldn't generalize anyway.

Aye. I don't even get to play it until close to 24 hours after it's available...this next 48 hours is not going to be pleasant.

Haha I try to refrain from posting Merizan tweets here, but it was requested. But honestly this should be giving us some hope. They're purposefully spinning, being vague, and definitely not denying IT. If there's a big surprise in store for us, they would not even come close to spoiling it for us on Twitter.

I know, but still. It's a bit like a student who is confident he'll score well, but gets more and more nervous as the results get closer xD
The one tweet that bugs me the most is the one where she said the EC didn't change her opinion on IT. If I play through EC and find it neither strengthening nor weakening my belief in IT (in other words, like we are now) then I'd be gutted. But yeah, no point speculating now.. just one day left!

Same here I hate an ambiguous ending where I have to decide for myself what happened. I don't get into a story so I can basically make up the ending or whatever part myself. I get into it because someone else created it and brought life to it. I want to see the ending they wanted to see with their story not what I think it should be. Imagine if in Star Wars Return of the Jedi instead of ending the movie with the empire being defeated they cut to the credits immediately after Luke force grabs his lightsaber from the Emperor and Darth Vader blocks his attack. That would be awful because you would have no idea whether Luke died or anything that was resolved in the end. I wish they would just give us an ending whether it be IT or something else. I am holding onto hope for the EC so we shall see in about 24 hours what happens.

They keep saying it will neither confirm or deny, which is good for the community since it allows speculation while adding a bit more closure (or illusion of closure to poor HuskShep - if you follow IT).
No part of that is true. Neither confirming nor denying is literally the worst thing they could do. We've been over this 50,000 times already. Literalists (at least the ones that qualify as sapient beings) hate the ending because it didn't make any sense, not because it didn't provide closure. They took a series that's historically stayed as close to scientifically accurate as sci-fi can possibly be and ended it with an amount of nonsensical space magic that would make Disney writers gag. Indoctrinations can't get closure without IT being outright confirmed because to us the Reapers are still reaping until Shepard gets up and ends them. And while I don't have hard numbers I'd say it's a safe bet that most of us view the Crucible as a Reaper trap. Meaning "Shep fought off the waking nightmare and hit the 'emergency shutdown genocide Cthulhus" button' explanation wouldn't fly. Once again. For the umpteenth time, EC is a massive waste of time if it doesn't address IT one way or the other.
Lastly, AFAIK "they" don't keep saying that. Jessica Merizan keeps saying it. And you must be really new here if you take her word as gospel. I'm sure she's a wonderful lady but you could probably go through her tweets and build a case that Joker is the head keeper and the Normandy is the Citadel from an alternate reality where everyone is a chipmunk.

If they flat out denied IT after all this time, that would be pretty messed up. But they've been very careful not to do that, and we don't think they'll be doing that at all in EC.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd prefer they firmly killed IT or left it ambiguous. I just want an answer. I'm starting to just want an answer more than the answer I want to hear. ... That sentence sounded better in my head, but you get the gist I think. I'm starting to wonder if a nonsensical space magic ending would be better than an ambiguous non-ending.

for all we know, the EC could make IT obvious and slap on a "wait for more DLC to continue building your legend"..

When that kind of thinking starts overwhelming be, I think about Arian's theory, and all becomes good again.
The EC not taking a standpoint on IT doesn't hurt IT in any way. It can, of course, hurt individual players who relyed on the EC to finally give them 'closure' on all things ME3 and Shepard's story arc in general.
Yes, this game costs me too, nearly too much attention and brain processing power and I would also love to finally call it a day. But on the other hand, with a lot of DLC yet to be announced (remember: Comic Con is coming with a lot of 'stuff' to present), they have an awefull lot of devious possibilities to reveal IT.
The EC might give closure to the ending that is on the ME3 discs, but maybe not to the overall storyline.
