I would say yes, it was planned from the start. I mean in the first mission you get info dumped with so much of what's going on with indoctrination but you can't make it out because you don't know the context of this info dump.Humakt83 wrote...

So all this was planned from the start then?
Wasn't there a theory that Prothean Beacon on Eden Prime was corrupted by Reapers?

lol this SO captures the mood on these forums over the next 24 hours. You should make a motivational and put it in the motiv/de-motive thread, to keep it up to date and everything. Plus it needs a bump I reckon, if EC goes south then we need some funny threads floating around.

There is! And I wouldn't see it as far fetched if most Prothean beacons were corrupted by the Reapers. And why shouldn't they? It's a nice method to find the most promising race for future Reapers.
The images you see are mostly organic material with implants, no pure synthetic/organic stuff.

Hey guys, since the EC comes out tomorrow and I guess to me these are the final hours in this thread, I wanted to compliment all of you.
I´m a long-time lurker and threw some ideas in here and there but compared to what you found out it´s ridciulous. I didn´t agree with a lot of speculations, thought some things only have been overanalyzing etc...But overall I think you can be very proud of yourselves for not being cynical, full of hate and that you believed in something. The IT showed me once again how awesome the fan-base of ME is, these 2 threads probably spared me a lot of depressions.
So now all I can do is thank you for pure awesomness! (especially lexor)
Yeah, I've lurked for a while too. Only recently started getting in on the discussion. Gonna miss this place and the users when it's all said and done. Wish I would've started sooner.

Son of a shisno you're right! That's pretty freaky. Maybe the beacon was "tainted" some how when Saren used it.
Thinking about it now... Why would Saren and Sovereign have left the beacon intact in the first place? I know they had those bombs planted, did they really expect to foil Shepard with such a dim-witted plan? S/he wasn't a spectre yet, but Saren still knew who you were and that you were serving under Anderson.

I have always thought that the crucible was in all the cycles, as a Trojan horse, but nobody could build it because they were defeated before it. Shepard is the only one who proves his value so for that, the reapers are interested in him.

That'd be a cool twist if IT was true, and it's Shepard that is the true catalyst. But then I can't see her/him surviving in any ending lol I take that back.. That would suck.
They placed clear emphasis on the beacon images here and there in the third game. It certainly wouldn't have been unreasonable, and, no matter what, I think that Shepard having that strong mental constitution we've seen from the beginning plats an important part in making sense of what we're seeing.

I don't cry. Not a tough guy thing, but I don't express feelings well. I feel them, but don't express them. Don't cry at funerals either. That said, I got a little teary when hanging out with Garrus on the Presidium. It's funny because I was trying to lock up Ashley as a LI, it was 1:30 AM, I had to go to bed, so I was going to quickly run to the commons area and talk with her. Garrus stops me on the way and invites me somewhere and I'm like, "Well .... daamn, okay." It was like being at one of those places where you're counting down the minutes on when you can leave. But as it progressed, it was such a cool moment. In a game where I figured I was going to die (I thought Shepard was the Catalyst with all his beacon input) I viewed it as the last real scene with my best friend who always trusted me.

I didn't get pushed that far, but I did get hit with three emotional gut twists: Mordin's ascent to the tower to cure the genophage (not him singing, just him gaining his composure as he went up after saying "Had to be me".); Legion and Tali's conversation right before he reassimilated and peace was brokered between the quarians and the geth; and the later, deeper "evolution" of EDI's character from an AI to a freer-thinking being.

Yes. I cried when Thane died. He isnt even my favorite character or anything. I like Legion and Mordin much more, but I didnt cry at their deaths. Probably because they didnt go out slowly dying from a disease in a hospital bed.
If Thane had simply died when Kai Leng stabbed him, I dont think I'd have cried.

Indeed. It ain't so black and white.
I'm hoping that the EC will serve a purpose similar to that device at the eye doctor, the one with the rotating lenses: it could bring the things you're seeing, and interpreting, more clearly in focus, while adding some closure to the whole she-bang that'll be more palatable and satisfying on the surface. And that'll hopefully work for everybody.
It won't. Many of us have already said that if EC doesn't outright confirm or kill IT, we're out of here and/or done with BW. Frankly I don't understand how more ambiguous crap can work for anyone, let alone everyone.
If you guys want to stay and tell the literalists "yeah, I know we said they'd have a DLC eventually to confirm IT and give us the real ending, and EC sure seemed like it'd be it, but it was just a fake and the real one will come soon I'm sure," then more power to you. Personally, I think I'll keep my self-respect.

Do you remember how Saren just completely raged out when he found out Shepard saved the colony from those bombs? Saren definitely didn't expect Shepard to pull it off. Sovereign? Maybe... but I doubt it to be honest. If Sovereign knew Shepard's potential he would have tried to use him instead of Saren back then. Sovereign didn't seem to think Shepard was important since he never spouted any of the now typical Reaper "yo dawg, we synthetics are killing you so you don't get killed by synthetics" nonsense. If the Destroyer on Rannoch would try to feed Shepard that drivel, why not Sovereign?
v0rt3x22 wrote...

Mordin's death. Best death I've ever seen a character get. Only time I've seen a character I love get killed and yet not want to save them because it was all so perfect. Thane's had me choked up but no waterworks. Legion's should have, he was my favorite character, but it was forgotten about 3 seconds later. They didn't properly dwell on it to let you take it all in.
