Only in control, I believe. I wouldn't know personally, since I'VE NEVER CHOSEN ANYTHING BUT DESTROY.

And I never will, unless it means I can play the rest of the game as a Reaper.

If you want to reach 4,000, you're going to have to play some MP.  Well, unless the EC changes that.

Huh. Started up ME3 figuring that after weeks of not playing, my EMS would be crap, but I'm at 57% readiness with 4260 EMS. So thats nice.

I hope the content won't be so dependant on the choice you made in the Catalyst chamber so everyone'll get an even part of the EC.

They've patched it in the EC. Can't find the thread again but there is a clear statement from Gamble who said that you need 3100 EMS (6200+50% GR) to get the best ending.

Thanks to MP, my EMS tends to stand at over 9000 immediately upon setting foot on the Normandy. My shep could faceplant through every decision in the game and still somehow wind up with the adulation of the starbrat and a Crucible that doesnt vaporize everything in it's path... Go figure....

Not sure if this has been speculated upon yet, but if not I'm calling it.
I speculate the reason they want us to start at Cronos Station so we don't miss content is because they added:

Battle of the Citadel II: The Reapers Take the Citadel.
