Since it's slow right now, I'll just mention this.

My boyfriend is finally playing his first ME3 playthrough, unspoiled. Sometimes I can't stand watching him play because he skips dialogue sometimes (on a first playthrough, how could youuuuu) and other things lol. Anyway, when he gets to the vent boy scene, he says "your hallucinating Shepard!" and then when he gets to the 2nd dream he says "oh no, am I being indoctrinated? I am, aren't I?" I'm like =] trying not to say anything!

Wth, how does he notice this on a first playthrough. I feel dumb.

As a guy, I can tell you that it's quite likely he actually knows about IT and is just pulling your leg by making you think he's figuring it out on his own. Thats totally a guy thing to do. B)

However, a lot of people thought Shepard was being indoctrinated while they were playing the game...
I did from the first dream sequence...

There were threads on here about the boy being a hallucination when there was just a demo...

Just dropping in to say, I replayed the ending again today for the first time since my initial playthrough. Wanted to experience things one last time before the EC.

The beam was really fishy. It was the biggest 'oddity' I noticed. I was really paying attention to everything as best I could. And the whole scene when Shepard gets hit with Harby's laser really screamed 'dream!' to me. To be honest... it did.

It just... didn't feel right. The noise. The music as it hits you. The way it fades to white, and then fades from black back in. How blurry it was when you get up. The high pitched 'whurring' sounds that were so similar to the nightmares. It was just... weird. That whole transition scene really DID seem like a dream beginning to me.

Another thing that once again leaped out at me... after the TIM confrontation Shep stumbles and crawls to the elevator before passing out. He's obviously losing blood and fading quickly. Yet, again  we see the screen fade to white, and then Shep reaches the decision chamber and stands up like he's ok all of the sudden. This immediately made me think of something...

Inception. I've heard that apparently someone at Bioware said they were trying to go for a Matrix/Inception style ending. Anyone else heard this? Anyway... moving on. It made sense. I immediately though, 'this is really weird. Shepard JUST passed out from his injuries, yet we see him fall asleep again, and again wake up but this time even less injured'... Maybe... it was a hallucination inside a hallucination?

Like, maybe when he passed out in the first hallucination, he went deeper into the dream. In Inception, when you are injured in a dream, if you go a lever deeper in the dream world you're injury is minimized. You're still hurt, but not as bad as before. It seemed this same concept was in place with the decision chamber scene. Just a moment ago, Shep is bleeding out, now he's standing up right and can even take on a full sprint or walk depending on your choice. That... makes no sense.

Just some things I noticed today.

Fingers crossed for today. Dammit... some form of the IT better be true. Otherwise, nothing makes sense. I don't see how they explain it.

*sigh* Its going to be a loooong 3 1/2 hours.

I didn't notice it at all either. I hated the dream sequences, but that was about it. <_<

Yep. I remember that.

The nightmares are some heavy evidence IMO. How someone can pass them off is beyond me. We are told numerous times that recurring nightmares are signs of indoc.

Lol I don't think so, but I'm starting to wonder... I actually think it might have to do with less emotional investment in the game. Another difference in how he and I play :P

My gf is a noob to gaming, so I usually play games "for" and she watches for the story.

We were doing a full renegade playthrough and when it came to ME3, there were some really beautiful moments that you had to be paragon for, and I was trying to explain to her, but she just wanted to get more scars and a full red bar...I was like "YOU'RE KILLING ME!" :crying:

We got into a decent sized argument when Thane died and she refused to let me pray with Kolyat. I had had enough. :pinched:

I know this is random, but I wanted to point a couple things out that I decided were clues that were never really focused on:

Lit cigs at the poker table.
Door opening/closing sounds at the corners of the cargo bay.

Like many, I thought the door sounds in the cargo bay were glitches, but it actually makes sense as a clue too. If Shepard is experiencing the influence of indoctrination attemps on the Normandy, he just might hallucinate door sounds in those corners, since there were doors there on the SR-1.

Anyway, not trying to draw everyone into an 11th hour speculation session, but I did want to mention those things before it's too late...

I found it interesting that non-gamers seem more likely to pick up on it. At least according to anecdotal accounts I've seen.

In about 3 hours and a half hours we will know weather or not Bioware fixed the endings to Mass Effect 3. Either way the forums are going to be filled with trolls and unhappy fans. Weather it be the IT haters or the IT supporters, only time will tell. I so hope that Bioware went with the Indoctrination theory.

The EC will most likely load only from the LegendSave (so first timers will have an opportunity to see the original ending spoiler-free), so I would go ahead and finish it now. Great way to kill the last few hours before the EC, anyway!

In any case, that is 2 and a half hours from now. Or 3, if you account for XBL marketplace wiggle room.

And then there's that part with Ash/Kaidan after Citadel II where they ask Shepard how you fight something that worms its way into your head like that, and the camera really zooms in on Shepard while she answers.

Foreshadowing, much?
