Well, to be fair, you've always been able to support the IT theory by picking and choosing your evidence.

Catalyst's voice sounds like Harby/a Reaper: +1 IT point
Shepard doesn't wake up at all, nor is there any mention at all of indoctrination: -1 IT Point (or all of them, really, since that was sort of the benefit of/hope for IT)

Depending on what you choose to believe, anything is possible.

Yea I'm starting to feel the same way too - that BioWare won't take a stance here.
They wanted the endings to speak for themselves.

Even if that means that I believe in IT and someone else doesn't. :?

What keeps bugging me though are some of the things in the game - that can only (at least to me) be explained logically through IT.

I dunno.....

Yknow, one thing I find odd. At one point, you can tell godchild "I dont believe you." and he'll say "Your belief does not matter."

TIM seemed to think otherwise. "I need you to believe."

Even bloody TIM disagrees with godchild.

Also, am I the only one who noticed that godchild admits that his creators did not agree with his decision to store them in Reaper form? Godchild has gone rogue, rebelled against his creators, and wiped organic life from the galaxy countless times, yet we're supposed to trust him?

Screw that.

As I had put it several tiems before, the reapers are the very devil they claimed to prevent. Well, now the Starchild doesn't really say "yo dawg I heard you didn't like being killed by synethetics..." (at leat, I don't think he does now) but the fact remains. There wouldn't have been any conflict between synthetics and organics if not for the reapers.

yes in fact the reapers caused the geth to attack

Did BW ever state they would fix their mistakes with EC? Because really, some scenes were obviously just there to fix mistakes we spotted.
Normandy picking up the crew, Hackett at the crucible noticing Shepard is actually there. And im sure there are others.
Can they at least admit they made mistakes i wonder?

They won't admit it. They fixed some issues, but they will probably never admit there were issues to begin with. Just fans who had "difficulty letting go".

I'm silently contemplating on this entire EC.....and Jessica's tweets about not trusting the kid....something is very very wrong here....

My new interpretation after the EC is that the catalyst was a mistake.
"the creators" created the catalyst, an extreamly sofisticated AI to find a solution to the problem they were having with their created synthetics.

They could've never imagined that the solution it came up with was the reapers and the cycle.
The first thing the AI does is destroy its creators (a tad ironic) and starting of the cycle.

So when the kid talks about its purpose, you shouldn't really trust him.

But yeah, IT or something like that would've been better imo. :)

Honestly, if you want to believe it, go for it. I just think it's silly to keep insisting that BioWare is supporting it by not addressing it at all :P

My biggest hope is that it would explain the shep alive scene. still no way to adequately explain that without IT.

Created will always rebel, and now we learn that the reapers were created by someone. hm....

think a lot of theories actually managed to worm their way into the EC.

Crucible a Reaper trap- There is actually more evidence for this to be true.

Reapers going to Reap- The theory that the Reapers are only doing this because it is all they know how to do, even though they may have forgotten their original reasons.

Being of light- this is somewhat of a joke. but hell, maybe the original creators of the citadel god child could be them

Bolded is most definitely not possible. The godAIchild states that his creators were the first turned into Reapers, forcibly mind you.

I'd like to direct your attention to my signature for news on the next, upcoming piece of ending DLC.

They also said they wouldn't be changing the endings either. Or that new endings would be added. If there's one thing we can learn from this whole affair, is that faceless companies can't be trusted. You can't trust what they say, you can't trust that they'll do right by us. I hate to admit it but you and your lot were right all along it seems. Thanks for not being a complete dick about it.

I know! I've been gone too long. Probably for the best, though. :D

I've been busy with that pesky "real life" everyone's been going on about. To be honest, I'll probably disappear again after tonight, but, well, I couldn't resist getting in a word or two about the EC ;)

Hope all's well with you!

I have nothing to complain about, thanks.

Take care, Griffin. *tips hat*

could some one please tell me how control makes sense, the godchild could simply tell the reapers to stop attacking and make them work together with the organics. It makes no sense why shepard has to sacrafice himself to make it happen, and if the crucible is just a big dumb power source why does it allow the citadel to do all this stupid s**t. The citadel is just a giant mass relay not a synthetic controlling/destroying/synthesizing machine. The ending still makes no sense. IT for life

Hey folks... fyi... we're seeing a lot of reports from this thread in the moderation tools. Unfortunately, the "Report this post" function actually just reports the entire thread... all 1200+ pages. So if you *DO* need to report something, please use the "Link" function, which will generate a new URL address in your address bar (with a #xxxxxxxxxxxx number indicating the thread). Copy and paste that into the memo field of the report.

Having said that, if you feel someone is just here to gloat (I've seen that word a lot today), I encourage you to ignore them.

2) They intended IT, but never intended to actually do anything with it. Somebody saw Blade Runner, didn't understand the moral message to the question posed, didn't understand their own story enough to realize posing the same question in it would break it, and stuck it in anyway in an epicly failed attempt to write something "deep." So they intended the "Speculations 4 all!" meme in its entirety. And just that. There was never going to be an answer to the question and there was never going to be a real ending if you were smart enough to notice things weren't right.

3) They did intend IT and they still intend IT, but rather than a DLC it'll be Mass Effect 4. This is the only way IT could've been intended, they intended to give us a real ending, and they would've spent months on this polished turd. Because the "real ending" isn't just around the corner, it's in the next city. Except since day one they've told us ME was a trilogy. Three games. Which means if it that is their plan, they cut 3 in half so they could sell it to us in two parts. Milk the cash cow. Remind me again about your "artistic integrity?"

Unfortunately, IT has been reduced to these possibilites. Any speculations will be just that, speculations until any new Mass Effect games are released that will either deal (or not deal) with this. It is a great theory, and would have been brilliant in execution.

Whatever the case, us fans came up with a much more intelligent ending than anyone at Bioware could have ever dreamed of. And I'm proud of that. Nice work everyone.

I just finished playing and I've done all the endings with high ems. I'll admit I have not seen every single thing in the extended cut, but it feels like there is not that much. The entire team was working on this for 3 months. There was no combat. There were a lot of shared cutscenes. I feel that they may have been working on other things.

Three months, two gigabytes. It's fishy that's for sure.

11:32 - shoot Casper and Harby's voice comes out.......

Destroy - 16:50 - doesn't hang shepard's name on the place - unlike the other 2 endings; Normandy now repaired after crash landing.....*at least weeks of repairs* then Shepard breath...

Yea- two ending completely nod to IT - other two - still do in their own way......we'll see post ending DLC -

There's also interesting sub that's torn EC apart already and found some interesting tidbits; like Levathon - rogue reaper - now how can a reaper go rogue? Specially in control or Syth? - Specially in destroy....;) more; and more questions folks -

She/he gets vaporized, while looking at Shepard. Pick Destroy and you essentially kill ... well, everyone.

Destroy LOW EMS is really a kick in the groin.

I must admit, the work put into EC feels more like it's the real deal epilogue, I'm losing alot of my faith in EC with this. The thing that only still intrigues me is the ending with Shepard in ruins ;|

Why does the kid walk out angrily when you chose reject(which i did by accident because i shot him........worth it!and had to start the mission again to pick destroy)
You think he would just say "fine the cycle will continue" or something like that.
And i still dont think IT is dead.
Also Think about indoctrination. It "persuades" you kind of agree or understand why the reapers do what they do.
Shep even does this,if you ask about how this is solving the problem he says "does a fire create chaos when it burns,it does what it was created to do"and shep seems to turn away and "understand" why they do what they do.
