On Harbinger not harming the Normandy...I really don't like what I'm about to say, but his is my impression.

Harbinger wants Shepard to succeed. The cycle is draining and tedious or something. He sees Shepard as his salvation (you can hear him say something along the lines of "save us.")

I want to say that is what the literal interpretation is, I hope I'm just coming up with bs, though.

Also, I know this is a bit late, but while I was playing EC I had some speculation that might explain why Anderson tells you about London again on Earth...

Do we know for a fact that the Anderson we talk to on vid-com throughout the game really is Anderson? Because I believe he tells you about his birthplace first during one of those convos. Just a thought, cause it is so painfully out of place.

I was running with the idea that Anderson died on earth at the beginning of the game, just cause some things seemed weird, but then I realized that didn't hold together well...at all. But whenever Anderson shows up it's feels like a dream. He just comes out of nowhere at the perfect moment and makes Shepard feel all safe.

If he wants Shep to succeed, why fly down to the beam at all? Once there, why take shots at Shep and her team?

After reading some of the comments on the previous pages, Just watched the bit right before shepard gets hit by harbinger, the background noise delibrately goes silent and you can definately make out some kind of wording from harbinger. The more i listen the more I hear "Join us".... very creapy

Agreed. It does sound like "Join us"

There seemed to be new whispers in the last dream too but I didn't stick around to analyze it... and if you hang out too long you get bumped to the cut scene anyway. I wish I'd had subtitles on, because whatever was said was more clear than whispers but less clear compared to the dialog from dead friends.

. . . . . .  o_o he did. I'm at least 90% sure. But he doesn't say it in his usual hharbinger voice, but that's probably because we're used to hearing him from a 6 foot tall drone and nto a goddam skyscraper sized war ship.

He did. Wow. WHY did I not notice this while I was playing? o.o And even if it wasn't, "Join us," he was -speaking- at least.

How many hints are there that Indoctrination can still be the case? I've noticed:

- The noise when Shepard opens his/her eyes on the Citadel.
- Starbinger's deep voice immediately after refusing.
- The breath scene is exactly the same, besides the music overlay. Still looks like concrete...

I think, even if the endings were now literal, I would be okay with it to a point.

I wouldnt. The new EC endings are even larger thematic travesties than the on-disc endings. If you just want superficial closure, fine, I guess the new literal endings are minimally acceptable. But if you care at all about themes, plots, and cohesive storytelling, as I do, the new literal endings are puke-worthy.

Hmm. Jessica Merizan seems to only be responding to positive tweets right now, and seems to also think most people are positive or neutral to the EC.

Well. Okay. I guess I just have high standards?

No I actually just commented on this. I've seen a few people who liked the ec and I don't get it. It didn't address anything. I'll admit when I first played the control I almost teared up in the final scene with my squad reluctantly putting my name on the memorial. However, after thinking back on what my Shepard Reaper was saying I could see that I had been totally corrupted. Also it didn't take care of any of the plotholes. All it did was give people something to be emotional about. They seem to forget things like war assets coming into play or anderson and tim magically arriving at the citadel etc...

Oh... And...

17/ If you pick 'Refuse' you get the scene with the two unknown aliens talking about the previous Cycle. And how they avoided the war with the Reapers because of the sacrifices of Shepard and co. Okay, how? Oh wait, you're not going to tell us how you convinced the Reapers not to liquidy everyone in a peaceful manner? Fair enough, no, perfectly reasonable iseewhyyouwouldnttellussomethingimportantlikethat...

Yeah the first time is over vid-com. And that's right, they didn't take out the extraneous "I was born in London"... hmmm

Didn't remove the weapon bench view bob or London mission view bob either. In fact, I got it all through London this time with a Shep I ran before that only got it during the beam run.

Hm. Curiosity getting better of me. Wondering if a NG+ after playing through an EC ending will affect the next playthrough's ending in some way. Not likely. But have spare time. Will report back with findings, give me three days.

I'm wondering also if anything was thrown in to the rest of the game with the EC. Could have sworn there was some new dialogue on the Normandy, maybe some other stuff, but no one has confirmed this for me... ^_^

Actually I think it is TIM that secretly wants Shepard to succeed, if anyone. A few of TIM's actions in ME3 make it seem like he is secretly pulling for Shepard.

Interesting you bring this up actually because I started from Cronos station and the only new thing I found was a video log of Kai Leng and TIM (it's not new though is it? I just missed it?) and TIM said he didn't count Shepard out yet.
P.S. it Shepard's facial expression different in the 3rd dream?

Why does the kid walk out angrily when you chose reject(which i did by accident because i shot him........worth it!and had to start the mission again to pick destroy)
You think he would just say "fine the cycle will continue" or something like that.
And i still dont think IT is dead.
Also Think about indoctrination. It "persuades" you kind of agree or understand why the reapers do what they do.
Shep even does this,if you ask about how this is solving the problem he says "does a fire create chaos when it burns,it does what it was created to do"and shep seems to turn away and "understand" why they do what they do.

He's angry because he admits that his solution is no longer viable, the Crucible presents new options, but he can't enact  them, you have to. If you refuse to do anything, his (now) imperfect solution will have to continue. The frustration on his part is understandable.

Why can't he enact them, if Shepard is the only one that can enact the Crucible, doesn't that make Shepard the Catalyst?

Everything the kid says is a lie,  starting with the claim of being the Catalyst, he's a Reaper.

You're right Hellish. It's one of the reasons I hated Legend of Korra's finale so much. The themes of Mass Effect for me were working together despite differences which is undermined by synthesis which is somehow portrayed as the best ending. Sacrifice which is undermined by Control (yeah you lose your body but so what you become spacegod) and destroying the reapers at all cost which is undermined by both destroy and rejection. destroy kills the geth. I can't believe that I would be made to spend hours upon hours on quests to give the geth consciousness and then the choice which should arguably be the only viable option kills them. And rejection tells you that if you stand by your morales and don't give up in the face of overwhelming odds you lose. You can't abandon core themes for the sake of a twist or something philosophically engaging.

So I didn't notice anything new until the Conduit Run with Harbinger.

Did I miss anything? Sure, I found a few things which were new to me since I never saw/picked them before (but I knew they were there).

And I also noticed that only the final video recording in Cronos Station has TIM turning the recording off, and I thought 'why is he recording all this, leading it out in the open on unlocked terminals and in nice neat order?'

And also 'why is Shepard stopping to read all this when he/she is supposed to be in a rush?'

I'm sorry, but I'm really hearing "save us."
The way it happens makes it look like he's resisting the command to destroy Shepard and the Normandy, then takes a deep breath and says "save us" before giving in and zapping shep, though probably in as much of a restrained fashion as he can, as Shepard survives.

Based on what I read about the Leviathan DLC, the Reapers don't necessarily want to do what they're doing, but are forced, and can break free, apparently. Maybe Harbinger was reaching out to Shep for help...

I think the VI had an additional line that explained how the Crucible works or something.

It's definitely not new. There are 4 video log consoles, with 3 logs each.
