My new biggest question that came with EC:

Roboviking wrote...

While I'm glad they decided to clarify one of the most annoying holes in the ending, i.e. how the heck did my teammates get to the normandy, It does require quite the leap of logic. For instance:

Shepard: Guys, there's a killing field in front of us, Harbinger is gonna shoot at us, but someone's got to get to that magic teleport laser. We have no choice but to make a no holds barred, all out, mad dash for it.
Soldiers: Yeah! Alright! Let's do this!

<As they race down the hill many soldiers are vaporized, and some just get blown back. It's starting to look hopeless when Shepard's crew members very nearly get a truck dropped on them.>

Shepard: Time out!
Soldiers:What?
Harbinger: What?
Shepard: Time out! Hey Harbinger! Stop shooting for a sec!
Harbinger: .....okay....
Shepard: Hey Joker, I know you are out fighting in space and all but could you traverse the 100,000 miles from there to here through reaper controlled space in like 10 seconds? My teammates almost got hit by a truck.
Joker: Sure thing!

<The Normandy flies over and opens it's doors to pick up the crew members.>

Shepard: Alight, on ya go.
Garrus: Hey shepard, think we got time for one more macho/dramatic goodbye?

<Shepard looks to Harbinger who's patiently waiting.>

Shepard: Sure, don't see why not.
Garrus: cool. Ummm.. I want to go with you.
Shepard: Nope, someone's got to live.
Garrus: Won't be you! Taste the rainbow Shepard!
Shepard: Eat it Garrus!

<The Normandy flies off slowly while the crew waves goodbye to everyone>

Shepard: Alright! Game on!
Soldiers: Game on!
Harbinger: GAAAAAAME OOOOOOON!

<Harbinger shoots Shepard in the face with a giant laser>

Well we were talking about how it seems a little OOC for Shepard to sound worried/scared at the mention of Harbinger by Anderson before the beam run. S/he says "Harbinger?" and looks at the camera, and gets a really worried expression for a minute. Here, got u some links:

EDIT: ok those might actually be sounds of explosions in the background... or hmm.. sounds a bit like a heart beat but it isn't steady whatsoever.

EDIT2: meant non-corpreal* in the first post.

I never noticed him look at the camera, but on my last playthrough (before EC) I had noticed that around that time is when everything starts to get weird. It's like Shepard isn't paying any attention what anyone else is saying. He just keeps turning his head and looking everywhere like he is looking for something and is extremely worried. Anyone else notice that? The flashing background just adds to the surrealism.

When Shep first got up in the hallway, I could of sworn it sounded like her footsteps in the geth consensus. But I didn't hear it after that. Was probably hearing things...

Funny thing is TIM says "I need you to believe" only moments earlier. I'm not saying the two sentences are related, but that's sort of odd, since it doesn't really make sense for TIM to say that in the first place.

ECHO +1000

Interestingly, Shep says "I don't believe you/I find that hard to believe" a many times, but only in Destroy does the Catalyst react in that way.
His 'Fire' analogy is an answer to one of those questions.

And I love that line from the Catalyst, as it directly opposes TIM's "I need you to believe".

Beautiful, Bioware!

EDIT: 'd. FellishBeast, y u do dis?

Poor synthhusk. I still can’t get my head around how that’s supposed to be the ‘good’ ending.

I wonder what synthesis does to the Geth? Do they think like organics now and no longer need to reach consensus on things? Are their bodies no longer mobile platforms but actual bodies that they're bound to? I also wonder how this affects the Geth's long term goal of building that mega-structure/dyson sphere, is that plan just thrown out the window?

Anyway on-topic. At first the EC made me feel that the indoc theory is just that, a theory, it was never intended and it will never be used. To be honest, at first that was enough, I mean the EC does enough to make me want to play the game again and that’s really all that I wanted out of the EC. Thinking about it now though, there are still a hell of a lot of peculiarities with the ending so the indoc theory is still alive and well.

I'm curious, why does the EC make you want to play the game again? All it does is give you epilogue slides and a generic monologue to go along with them. No personalization at all...

Same here. The EC makes the ending attactive enough to not need IT so desperately. In fact, one could now claim that the game is like Blade Runner: you have all the evidence to assume that Shepard did end the war, no matter what.
Thus making IT more an academic theory, than a practically required one. You can seriously explain a lot of things if you assume the Catalyst is telling the truth.

For me, it's "new" Refuse ending, that makes this game replayable, and still makes ME3 not finished.

It's difficult to explain. Before the ending just felt..empty, after finishing it I felt so bitter about it I didn't want to touch the game ever again. With the EC endings it at least feels complete to me. I'm not saying the ending we have now solves all the problems, or any of them to be fair, but it does at least feel like an ending, before it didn't. That and the endings now at least feel hopeful, before it was just death, death, and more death.

Edit: Sorry if my post doesn't make much sense, had a bad case of insomnia. Note to self, don't come into a speculation thread when knackered.

I think the main reason gamers felt that, the empty weight of their decisions, is because we all believed this to be the last game telling Shepard's story.

Thinking about it this way, playing ME1; making your final decision on to save or sacrifice the Council, you knew it would effect the face of the galaxy and you knew you'd see how in ME2.

In ME2, same thing but with specific characters (Tali becomes an Admiral, Thane lives to save the Councilor, Legion gains better understanding of organics, etc) and you knew you'd see the results of your success/failures in ME3.

But in ME3, you got these end-game choices that changed and effected  so much in the galaxy and KNEW since this was the last game you wouldn't be able to see HOW it changed everything. Now that the EC shows us, most of us are at least sated. That being said, I still dont' think this is the end for Shepard. IT or not, Bioware still has something up their sleeves (especially since that damn Breath Scene remains ambiguous.)
