So has anyone speculated as to why it shows Thane in the control ending? Could it have something to do with his prayer?
It also showed him in Synthesis.
Thane is seen shaking his head. In Huerta his prayer was for the wickedness in Shepard's mind. This means, that by choosing Control or Synthesis you sided with the Reapers, in that you did something other than destroy them.

Thought it was clear/possible the second flashback showed a fallen/sacrficed comrade. In destroy it shows EDI (later named on the memorial wall), in the originals it showed Anderson 2nd.
EDIT: but if thats the case why not show Legion or Mordin in the control/synth endings...hmmmm

This is significant to me btw.
This is the same Shepard that also did his things on Rannoch and Tuchanka.
Are you saying Kalros "had his back" while he was charging headlong at the Destroyer before he even hit one of the hammers?
He had a plan in those situations, to him Harbinger came out of nowhere and he had no effective way to fight him off.
You're not going to convince me that the level of fear Shepard shows when Anderson mentions Harbinger is in-character. It's out of character for him any way you look at it. Shep has been there done that too many times to wet his pants over it.
Dunno if this response has been

Okay anyone else notice a weird sound as the ramps come up for you to make your choice. After listening to Harby's "serve us" so many times I think I recognize a similar "voice" or sound or something here. Not sure if this was here before EC.

It's difficult to explain. Before the ending just felt..empty, after finishing it I felt so bitter about it I didn't want to touch the game ever again. With the EC endings it at least feels complete to me. I'm not saying the ending we have now solves all the problems, or any of them to be fair, but it does at least feel like an ending, before it didn't. That and the endings now at least feel hopeful, before it was just death, death, and more death.
Edit: Sorry if my post doesn't make much sense, had a bad case of insomnia. Note to self, don't come into a speculation thread when knackered.
I think the main reason gamers felt that, the empty weight of their decisions, is because we all believed this to be the last game telling Shepard's story.
Thinking about it this way, playing ME1; making your final decision on to save or sacrifice the Council, you knew it would effect the face of the galaxy and you knew you'd see how in ME2.
In ME2, same thing but with specific characters (Tali becomes an Admiral, Thane lives to save the Councilor, Legion gains better understanding of organics, etc) and you knew you'd see the results of your success/failures in ME3.
But in ME3, you got these end-game choices that changed and effected so much in the galaxy and KNEW since this was the last game you wouldn't be able to see HOW it changed everything. Now that the EC shows us, most of us are at least sated. That being said, I still dont' think this is the end for Shepard. IT or not, Bioware still has something up their sleeves (especially since that damn Breath Scene remains ambiguous.)
Yeah I agree with that completely, especially the idea that Bioware has something planned. After all why even have an ending where Shepard lives if they’re not going to do something with it?
It’s like Halo 3. Bungie didn’t kill off Master Chief because, while they were at that point finished with his story, they wanted to leave it open in case they got any future ideas or in the event Microsoft wanted more Halo games based on him.

True. But BW have specifically said on many occasions that this is the conclusion of Shepard's story. No doubt they will continue the ME Franchise, just without him. The "breath scene" comes as a bit off an add-on as BW didn't want to annoy fans by giving no endings in which he could live (at least in corporeal form as well)

I think showing Legion or Mordin that would be less obvious, both characters have been 'different' in their time before joining Shepard. Thane, however has always been true to his heart. And he has been praying for Shepard, EDI however had faith that synthetics could achieve an understanding of organics.
It's more related to the respective choice's theme, I think.

True, and possible, but y'know Thane does pray a lot they could just be showing us Thane in a familiar pose. Like Garrus with his sniper rifle on the Presidium, Legion doing his head-fringe flex thing, or Liara with that (adorable) smile.

Maybe, but I find it hard to believe that anyone thought Shepard was coming out of this one alive, especially since it was the last in the trilogy. I know I wasn’t, so I was surprised when I got the breath scene.

Lol I suppose. But it feels a bit odd to show Thane in the ending here if there's not some symbolism there. Otherwise I think it would make more sense for him to show up as one of the "fallen", like Mordin. Hmmm. Curious if not accepting the prayer or him being dead in ME3 affects this.

If I already long ago declared you my enemy and you have made no overtures of peace since, why should I start now?
What I think Bioware DID do was A). Stick to the DLC itinerary I have shown you at least 4 or 5 times now, with the final DLC likely being intended as a Pay for DLC, the EC being the unexpected "band-aid" they stated it to be.
C). Did preciscely what they said they would not, granting no confirmation, the logic there being that they chose not to alienate one fanbase or the other, (while IT remains a majority, your crowd is a significant amount I cannot deny, significant enough for the beancounters anyway) so that both sides would continue to buy DLC.

Stick to the DLC itinerary I have shown you at least 4 or 5 times now, with the final DLC likely being intended as a Pay for DLC, the EC being the unexpected "band-aid" they stated it to be.. Made the endings what they originally wanted them to be ( which for some reason did not reach snuff on release day, perhaps the slight rush from EA, giving them 3 less months than they needed?) on the disc, since now the endings actually match what was described in the Prima strategy guide over three months ago.
Haha y so serious?
Anyway, ok, I assume you are aware that BW have explicitly stated no more ending DLC
Ok
"IT remains the majority", how do you know this?
