Sup guys. Moving to Alaska and it is painful...driving all day. Anyway.

I was thinking today about the EC, and the Reapers stance on reaping makes no sense. In the first and second games all the Reapers would say (Harbinger and Sovereign) was that life was a mistake. All organics needed wiping out forever. And then in ME3 when you meet their leader which is supposed to be the collective of all of them+AI he claims that he is trying to save organics.

My thought is that he is lying to get Shepard onto his side so that Shepard makes a favorable choice towards the Reapers. If the child is telling the 100% truth then something is wrong in the writing. You can't change the antagonists motivation at the last moment. It's like changing Emperors stance in Star Wars from trying to control the galaxy to that he is trying to be everyone's friend. NO. It doesn't work like that. Totally removes the main motivation in the story. And that is what the starchild is trying to do. Make Shepard forget the reason he was there and make him his BFF forever.

You're moving to Alaska?  See if you can arrange a meeting with the great and powerful Arian Dynas.  He lives up there, you know.

Yeah, we really need to discuss older material to solidify our perspectives or find something new like Dead Coats™.

I've been meaning to ask about that. Is there a way to check if there's infrasound in the background of the trailer he was in? If so, did we find anything?

Finally heard it. Problem to me is that the Catalyst maintains that higher voice for a couple lines after stating that belief is not required.

I don't believe you...

*yells at Shepard* YOUR BELIEF IS NOT REQUIRED!

Oh, okay. *calms down*

NEEDZ MOAR INFLUENZERSZ!

Why couldn't he have just told me my belief was not required when I got there. If I only knew that sooner it would have been so much easier to pick synthesis.Posted Image

Belief is not required, my tail. The star child wouldn't waste a word on you otherwise. Instead, in the EC, you can have a ten minute conversation with him. That sucker is trying to influence you; which way is not clear, but he defintely wants you to pick something besides Reject.

He's pushing for Synthesis, in my opinion. The last time I played through it, my mother happened to be in the room and asked why he wanted me to choose that one so badly. She's never played ME before.

Also, if belief means nothing, why would we then choose Control?

Yeah, paxx is right on this one.  It IS weird.  My personal thoughts when I heard that line were that Shep was about to wake up.  I had noticed originally that his voice had gotten fainter, like Shep was breaking free from his influence.  Now, given that his voice gets higher and the Shep VOs disappear, I get the feeling that something really WAS up.

He is clearly pushing for synthesis. Synthesis = Pick this one! Control = meh. Destroy = NO WAY!

Edit: The exact opposite way I see it.

Well, it's clear from the first game the reapers don't want to eradicate organic life. But I wholeheartedly agree with the rest. Especially this part:

Yeah, uh huh. Sovereign totally supported organic life...<_<

Last time I checked extinction didn't = ascension = living eternally. Also he claims that the cycle can't be broken. Hmmm...but I did that in ME3??

We may never know. Since we have no means of accessing the source files for that trailer, we could only hope that the uploading process didn't affect the audio when it was put up. Except we know that almost never happens. Also, it's a CG trailer that didn't use in-game assets. It's doubtful that Bioware made it. It's even more doubtful that the third party studio implemented infrasound themselves.

What I'd be interested in is if infrasound appears in the previous games. Or if there are sections where it appears in ME3 that doesn't have any possible links to indoctrination.

Shepard VA's represent his indoc-mind, like TIM then? Part of her/him is convincing her/himself. That makes sense.

Ah, that's the answer I was looking for. Sort of. It's unfortunate we can't check, but you're probably right. I wouldn't want to waste anybody's time checking, in this case.
As for infrasound in previous games...that's actually very interesting. I'd be interested to know, in particular, if it's there during scenes with Sovereign, Harbinger and Saren. Maybe TIM and Benezia.

Thank the Shepard of the Universe and the Reapers!!! Posted Image

Also, credit goes to BansheeOwnage for relating Shepard's VAs' voices to TIM in terms of representing the indoctrinated part of Shepard's mind.

Highly doubtful. IT wouldn't have been planned until late in the production of ME2 (at the earliest) if it was planned at all. While they could've put infrasound in those conversations, I would hardly chalk it up as evidence.
