I've got a theory. Don't throw rocks at me. Just an opinion. Got really carried away, REALLY Long post. Sorry.
I think that there is a possibility of another Mass Effect game featuring commander shepard.
First let's remember what did they say pre ME3 release -
In
one of the early interviews pre E3 2011, right about the time of the
Arrival launch, someone did an interview (i think it was casey hudson,
but not sure) about upcoming ME3 and the design angle storywise.
I remember some key points from it, (because they left me hopefull and hyped) but am to lazy to find it.
1 - All out galactic war with the Reapers as a setting and background for the story.
2 - Large emphasis on Shepard's story and struggle,
3 - Large focus on the process and nature of indoctrination, never really explained and shown in full in previus games.
4 - The complex main quest would be figuring out the way to beat the reapers, while uniting the galaxy,
5
- The would be different ways and possibilites, some of which could
turn out to be false roads. The way to the victory most certainly would
not be just pushing an off switch on all reapers, and it won't be some
magical device.

Aha! So this is where all the sensible people are hiding. Glad I found you all.
I
was getting a bit tired of reading all the other threads' comments
about how the EC proves IT is dead. The lack of logic was most
disheartening.
I may lurk here for a while!
Been suggesting this for a while - I may have a free day this weekend so if anyone wants to set up a match or two I'm gameEither.Ardrey wrote...

PC as well. It'd be nice to have nametags to recognize as well (since I don't really know anybody yet on Origin).

The real, real irony is that people are still complaining about the absence of a happy ending despite the hopeful message that each ending currently has. Without watching the stargazer sequence for Refusal you could almost write that one off as a "Reapers Win" situation. People are going to be PISSED if there are even less happier endings to come.
You mean even more ways to have you either fail invariably or win without the feeling the victory?
I think that the first step towards more satisfaction for me, will be if I can actually have an ending where I see Shepard putting down his gun, sitting down and breathing out. Because with a dead Shepard, the connection to the game is sorta gone for me.
Only once Shepard will be able continue his life after the war and let go, will I be able to do so, too.
Sorry, Bioware, shouldn't have designed your game that way, now, deal with the complaint.

Me too (PC), now that my bachelor's thesis is done, I'm all in for MP matches.
Not work, but I've been at my novel, so not in the mood for games recenetly, but PC origin nametag is the same as my BSN account. Which is also my Youtube account... and my email adress. And my username for a bunch of other forums.
Wow, I just realized I am a spectacularly unimaginative person.

Seriously, let it go. You dislike the idea of a deeper and more forfilling experience, that's fine. But complaining about it, whining when people disagree with you and trolling as hard as possible because people DARE to have an alterantive interpretation of a game that was supposed to be open to speculation is extremely sad and pathetic.

I just feel that speculating for the sake of speculating, is pointless.

Then leave. You're only wasting your own time.
See what I mean? Instead of 'doing something more interesting' you've come into a thread where you know you'll be disagreed with, purely to disagree and say how pointless it all is.
That's the definition of a troll. So either leave, or speculate. And since you think speculation is pointless (ha) you only have one choice left. One choice without looking like a fool, that is.

Cool your jets, fellow poster. I had no intention of trying to anger you. Perhaps in my own way, I was expressing that I am tired of the IT debate. But you make a point. I am wasting my time.
Perhaps it is because the forums are moving rather slowly today, and I was just looking for something to do. Trolling by accident does seem to be the case here.
I take my leave. *activates teleporter*

The fact that there isn't an actual FAIL ending in what is supposed to be the last game of this series (Shepard's run, not ME in general) is puzzling. All of the endings are victory endings, though at differing costs to Shepard and the galaxy. I would have thought, for the end of the series, that one horrible ending that gave you a "mission failure" screen would be expected. But no. Just a set of varying degrees of Pyrrhic victories.
I have always thought, right from that first playthrough I did, that Bioware had something up their sleeve. I made the following graphic early on to express my sentiments:
i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/Mr_Hat/New%20Pics/1805388-me3ba_super.jpg
At the time it was mostly anger at Bioware that prompted it. Now I still think it is an accurate description of ME3, though now I simply believe there is more to come. I don't know whether that will be an IT DLC or something else. But it seems to me if this wasn't Bioware's plan all along, then it should be now.
I guess only time will tell.

As for the IT itself, anything new or interesting? Have been at sleep and I didn't want to bother reading 20 pages "again".
But anyways, I am with you for speculating!

Watch that link and argue against me.
Believing in the IT theory at this point is just reaching. It's childish and pathetic, and the fact that you can't counter my arguments against the IT theory just show how pathetic it is and how pathetic the people who follow it are.
Especially when they are apperently blinded by the new shiney shiney, and ignore the fact the endings still don't make literal sense, and there's still no proper closure.
Although with IT you get no closure whatsoever. At least with the literal interpretation, the galaxy isn't ruined, the Reapers are dead, your squadmates are alive etc

The IT explains all the way up until Shepard's breath scene. That's the point I guess, the literal way up to that point makes no sense. With IT, it's explained why Shepard only lives after Destroy, and the closure would've to come afterward.SubAstris wrote...

But the amount of clues, from no interaction with or any else seeing or hearing the child at the beginning, to the mysterious tree from the dream that shows up after getting hit from harbinger.
I think Bioware did whatever they could to imply that the kid is not real.
It started with the disappearing garden and ended with nobody noticing him.
There's this Reaper sound when Anderson interupts and the kid vanishes to thin air.
But, The kid's behaviour itself is very much... unchild like.
First, he waits for Shepard to see him in the air duct.
Only then, he goes backwards as if to lure Shepard to come for him.
(why not look around and see that this soldier killed all the monsters, go out, hug him and stay close to him?)
When Shepard reaches for him, he says: "You can't help me."
His tone when he says that is very determined, as in stating a fact, and he looks straight at Shepard.
I can't imagine any child saying such a sentence in that tone.
And this is all scripted, not some game bugs.

Even if no DLC/content would come at all, the IT would still be there. It wouldn't be still bunked nor debunked.leonia42 wrote...
But the IT relies on more content to come, if no more content is coming then it offers no better conclusion then we have currently.
The only way IT can die, IS DLC/content which will come which maybe disproves IT, or proves it. Or leaves clues and neither prove nor disprove it.

There may still be theories and speculations to explain things that didn'd add up but if those things NEVER add up because Bioware doesn't ever address them then how can we ever know one way or another? At some point IT may become only headcanon if there isn't ME3-2 on the horizon. It's a shaky thing to rely so heavily on "possible, future content", if the theory can't stand on its own two legs how can it really stand at all?
And an aside - I know trolls are inevitable with this sort of discussion but there is absolutely no need to be rude to people who do not believe in IT, especially when they haven't been rude themselves. You guys can make yourselves look just as bad as the trolls with that sort of behaviour and I know you're all smarter than that so let's ease up on some of the language in our posts and think about what we say before hitting submit, eh? No need to draw moderator attention to what has been a mostly productive discussion thread.
