Nah, I've always found that a bit weird personally. Particularly the girls that go for Garrus (How would you even...? Nevermind) but I've been with my girlfriend for getting on 4 years now - she's mad as a ****ing brush naturally, but never mind...

She did walk in when I was doing the EC, right at the point of the "romance" cutscene before Cerberus. I think she now thinks Mass Effect is a "different" sort of game :P

Anyway people, more speculation is required!
But not from me, I'm off for a few hours to go to the airport

Hm. I took kendo lessons for like a year because my mom is half japanese (stereotyping, lol). I would like to find out if fencing or kendo is superior.

But enough of that! Her love is for all the IT people, who are we to claim it for ourselves?

... YOUR WORDS SHAME ME! *tries to stab himself with his epee forgetting the it ends in a blunt tip with a button on it.*

Owch.

And Kendo and Fencing are as diametrically opposed as two things could be and yet still focus on swords.

Yes, form is key in both, but Kendo requires both hands to grip the weapon, fencing uses the other hand as a counter weight to pull back from a lunge. As I understand it, Kendo focuses primarily on defense and perfection in form, whereas, while important in epee and saber fighting, the primary focus in fencing is speed. Also, the guard is usually the most important defensive item in the duelist's repitoire, at least as far as epee is concerned, saber and foil focus on deflecting blows or locking blades. I assume Kendo allows the two opponents to circle one another, from what I have seen, like a traditional boxing or wrestling ring? In fencing, the two opponents face each other on a single strip of area they are not allowed to leave.

Mainly, the focus of the whole thing is speed, unpredictability and reach. You're fighting with a knitting needle at high speed. To be honest, it's not something I am too good at.

I just thought of this, what if the memorial scene at the end with your squad is meant to represent shepards mind? If you pick destory you stuck to your guns and choose right, so your LI doesn't put your name up. If you pick control or synthesis you lost the fight and your mind to the reapers thus you are put on the wall since you are basically dead.

Yep, I posted about this before.

To sum the old message:
* There is no difference to the crew and Normandy between destroy and control. If they didn't lose hope because they didn't find Shep's body yet, then... in control they couldn't either because there is no body. So it's only Shepard "assuming direct control!" on Harbi and tell them "oh btw 'tis Shep here, I am dead... just so you know".

* It is the last thing that we see before credits/breath scene.

I think there were more but I don't remember right now :)

Hi everyone! De-lurking for the first time. I've been thinking on Starbinger's 'inevitability of conflict between organics and synthetics' argument. Why did a number of people accept that logic even though EDI and the geth proved it false?

Synthetics vs organics is one of the biggest themes in science fiction. If you're a fan of sci fi, chances are you'll have seen at least one franchise that pits man against machine. From pop culture it has been drilled into our heads that synthetics cannot be trusted and will turn on us. Some people, including me, just accepted it as a fact – to the point where I dislike my microwave because it seems to be arrogant. I was suspicious of EDI at the beginning of ME2 simply because she was an AI.

And if the seemingly all-powerful Catalyst raises the argument that synthetics will inevitably try to destroy organics, most people will go “Huh. He has a point there.” I know that's what my initial thought was, even though I completely distrusted and loathed Starbinger. Ironically enough, one of ME2's greatest successes was turning that trope upside down, and it was continued in ME3. It seems like Starbinger was manipulating the preconceived notion many sci fi fans have – another instance of manipulating the player.

Thoughts?
And great job Arian with your ending script. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Edit: Formatting.

ME3 did something greater.
It taught us that the Geth never seeked for a conflict - they tried to avoid it right from the start.
The conflict with the Geth was created either as self-defence against Quarian attacks, or by being "indoctrinated" by the Reapers.

How's that for "the created will always rebel against their creators"? B)

Anything new that has surfaced, or is it just irrelevant posts going on?

Comic-con looks to be abit of a minor disapointment, with the fact they're going to showcase the new multiplayer DLC only, from what I've seen. Hope people come with good questions :o

Isn't what's great about these cons and stuff is the reveals and surprises?
It's happening on Saturday 14th, let's not try to guess what they'll talk about.
They already implied they will announce SP DLC soon. Let's be patient.

With high enough EMS, same as  for the breath scene I believe,  then the person holding the plague stops just before putting it on the wall and the scene cuts to the Normandy leaving the planet.

Can any summarize the "new" IT evidence found so far other than the reject ending?

Coats appears in the piles of dead on the Citadel (shakey evidence, but interesting).

The weird manner Harbinger doesn't shoot down the Normandy during the escape scene.

Harbinger saying something (depends who you ask - most think its "Serve Us" - and other Reapers have also said this, but the way it focuses in and quietens down is very interesting indeed!).

Evacing Shep's teamates when they don't even seem especially injured - them leaving almost without a fuss as well.  While ignoring dozens of wounded allies.  And the Normandy arriving almost instantly.

More circular logic from Starbinger.

The weird noise Shepard makes when waking up on the Citadel, sounding a bit like a defibrilator.

Leaving in things would could have been explained away as 'bugs' (tree reflections, open space hole in Cronos Station) when other ones were fixed.

The Normandy landing on that planet when it was apperently completely unharmed.

The Normandy crew holding a memorial for the dead - even before they knew Shepard was dead, let alone Anderson as well!  Infact, the only person who knew was Shepard!

Leaving in the breath scene.

Edit: I think what he wanted was new evidence regarding what the EC shows us.

Yes, thanks. This thread is even harder to keep up with now after the EC.

Edit:

Also consider the explosions still starting at the wrong location -Viper Nebula- as shown in the galaxy map.

Also, the creepy manner which Control shows Shepard as being an AI copy of his/her memories. But is still blantantly a Reaper. Burr.

And Synthesis becoming even more ridiculous.

So the Reject ending itself doesn't present anything new for the theory? Would rejecting the Reapers be the best way to avoid indoctrination or are we pretty much set on Destroy because of the breath scene?

Its unclear since the way its handled is almost throwaway. You get the epic Shepard speech, then Starbinger getting angry.

And then it just kind of ends. As if it doesn't matter. You don't really get a proper epilogue, you don't see the desperate last battle. Its like Starbinger's illusion just doesn't care enough to try and create that image - just shows one ship being destroyed and then Shepard looks scared and alone.

And... Yeah. It 'could' become something - but right now we can only really assume Shepard is killed. Maybe DLC will change that, and give Shepard the strength to actually fight back and create his/her own solution.
