And that is why we all fundamentally disagree with you. The Starkid is playing with words and implying things without saying them outright. That is a form of deception and manipulation, in my mind at least.

Funny thing is, its almost like they are projecting.  Though I'd never go as far to say this is actually true (since this is a game, not a religious), they are showing similar signs to anti-science fundamentalists:

1/ Denying evidence as much as possible.
2/ Focusing on one small part and ignoring everything else, as if the entire argument hinged on that one thing.
3/ Repeatedly ask a question that's already been answered, then act smug when someone gets annoyed.
4/ Claims victory if the opposing viewpoint even conceeds one point.
5/ Brands anyone who disagrees with them as zealots, and used ad-hominum attacks against them.
6/ Outright lies when it suits them.

Just goes to show you can pin anything on anyone else if you try hard enough.

Ultimately we just disagree on a point - neither side is remotely 'religious'.

Control looks like a Reaper? Even if you are right, then you would expect that to subliminally put Shepard off choosing control, which is something the Catalyst doesn't want

Actually, he's saying Destroy does.

Ha, I couldn't even tell the difference, that's how similar they are!

One's angular, one's rounded. That's a pretty big difference.

One looks like the inside of the derelict Reaper and one looks like the proto-reaper's feeding tubes. That's my take anyway.

Technically they both look a bit like a Reaper, but I think Destroy is intentionally 'curvy', much more Reaper-like.
If Control looked completely different, it'd be too obvious.

I'm not saying why it does; I'm just offering a point of conversation.
If you were designing this scene, why make them different? Destroy is obviously designed differently for a reason.

I re-read this ^ and realised I'm making the stupid point that Destroy is different. They're both different ;)

Exactly. Because this is a viedo game. There is nothing religious about it.

Well, the original sound is definitely a slowed down version of the Reaper horns we've been hearing.

if I had a better video editor I would have taken a video and speed it up 2x. Best I could do was rip the sound files out of the ME3 dlc and find it manualy.

You know, come to think of it, isn't that sound made while Shepard is grabbing his head in pain while TIM is controlling him?  I just realized that scene is kind of weird due to how Shepard is able to bend his head down and move his arm to grab it while TIM is in control.  I mean, I know that Shepard can shoot the gun that one time of his own volition, but that's just a twitch of the finger.  Anderson can't move AT ALL except for a few small movements of his head and some small twists of his torso.  It's a little weird that Shepard can lower his head AND move his arm at the same time.

Yes. Destroy represents all of the murderous and horrific melting down of entire species that they have done over millions of years. Control represents the technology of the Reapers themselves.

One you're shooting because it's abhorrent. In the other you're grabbing a set of controls to "control" the technology.

Debating creationists literalists on the topic of evolution indoctrination theory is rather like trying to play chess with a pigeon; it knocks the pieces over, craps on the board, and flies back to its flock to claim victory.

But they're just coloured tubes, in essence.

Why do they both need to look a bit Reaper-y, with one, IMO, that actually looks like a Reaper?

I remember bioware said they wanted their ending to be talked about for years. well, it remains to be seen if they mean leave people speculating wtf happened for years, or do something amazing so it will be talked about for years. I sincerely hope the latter, because that's just ****ing cruel to end the game on a cliffhanger and you never find out what happened to your shepard.

mental resistance allows momentary control of his body, like when Saren kills himself? then you get that sound and the TIM/Reapers are controlling Shep again.

Shepard would subconciously associate Control with the Reapers and just had a conversation with real?/fake? TIM about Control and TIM reveals he is indoctrinated. It's natural that Shepard's mind would see Control like a Reaper. Destroy is a Proto-Reaper feeding tube that Shepard destroyed in ME2 so that Shep could start taking it out. Again, natural to form that from memories and association. If it's a hallucination, not all of what is seen could be controlled.

Thats been bugging me for the longest time, I was sure i'd seen it in the game somewhere before. The feeding tube seems like a good bet, but I can't find a decent screenshot. It would also have some fairly interesting implications, if the ending is a walking hallucination, and not completely in Shepard's head.

I just told you why. They could be interpreted as metaphors. Synthesis itself is a "leap of faith" into a beam of "holy" light.

I think the Chantry has good intentions, but are misguided and let the zealots lead the way too often.
They are not wholly evil.

That should prove I'm not Rifneno. :D

Yeah, I know that, I'm just saying that it seems weird that Shepard would be able to move his body at the same time that the sound plays.  If it was the Reapers reasserting control, then shouldn't he have moved and THEN had the Reaper sound play WHILE they regained control?

I'm 95% sure it's the proto-reaper feeding tubes. I played ME2 over again after I beat ME3 the first time before the EC and paid attention at the end. If someone could create a side-by-side image, I'm fairly certain we would see they are identical.

LOL! Pretty interesting description though.

Funny thing though, a few days ago I was at a rodeo in Idaho. After the show was done there was this one redneck who started insulting me because of my T-shirt, on which there stood "God is an ever receding pocket of scientific ignorance." He starts calling me a godless heathen, and that he should shoot me at the spot, and I tell him that he isn't acting as a christian according to the bible should. The he starts calling me a communist and democrat supporter, and then I said "funny thing though, christianity is pretty left wing if you  think about it", and then he says I'm wrong. I then proceeded to ask him if he even read the bible, which he of course didn't do. He then just keeps on insulting me and calling me an idiot again and again even after I explained to him why christianity is left-wing. He just continues to call me wrong and says I'm lying even though he didn't even read the bible!
In the end, I just said "screw this" and went away, and he looked at me with his stupid smug look.

Saren still had control of his body in the middle of the " GURK!" sound. Then he says the Reapers are too powerful.

Not to mention, we have to remember that Shep is in the process and not fully theirs. Shep is a case we haven't seen before in the series if IT is true. We've only ever seen fully indoctrinated people and we wouldn't know what the experience would be like. We know the outward signs, but we've never seen the process from inside.
