Just a note on Coats.
During the run through London: Just after the lone Rachni, few Marauders and husks, you come to a store. After you pass through it, taking out a few Marauders and Cannibals and drop down into a pit area you hear some radio chatter.
Marine: "The Destroyer spotted us. We're prepping Thanix missiles."
Coats: "Hold your fire. You won't do anything but ****** it off."
Note: Remember, Allers says about superior officers ordering subordinates not to attack Reapers. I'll have to get the exact quote.
Marine: "Roger that, but we may not have a choice."
Coats: "Understood."
First, it bothers me that they didn't at least 'try' and Coats is the one that stalled the attempt, ordering the Marine not to fire.
Second, if Coats is so convinced that the missiles won't work, then why bother with them at all. Why 'hold off'? So Shepard can be the one to '****** off' the destroyer?
This of course does not change my stance on Thanix Missiles. I think they are bogus.
I'm not so sure about that. Rememer the scene where the asari officer has her units fire on the destroyer only to be completely vaporized. They only managed to distract the destroyer for all of five minutes. I'm not convinced Coates is a traitor. I think in that scene he's trying to save himself and his men from annihilation by not engaging the destroyer in a futile distraction attempt.
