I figure they thought the original endings would be enough to satisfy the players until they finally released the IT DLC, but were proven wrong, and had to scramble to make something that would satisfy the literalists until such a time as the DLC is released.

Is this in fact what is going on? Who knows. Lots of speculation from everyone and all that, but its what I believe.

The one I played was maybe two or three days worth of work tops.

Bit more then that it also fixed some flagging issues with certain characters like Daniels and Donelly. Still freaked out about Starbinger's demon possession moment when you refuse to choose. T Hat was creepy kind like children of the corn kinda creepy.
