They use bullets shorn from a block of clips, which are then accelerated by mass effect fields to extreme velocities.
Thermal clips are disposable heat sinks which keep the gun from overheating and then are rapidly flushed by ejection.
Guns cannot fire without thermal clips due to the dangers incurred by firing, which generates a great deal of heat.
They are not ammunition.

Flamers aren't energy weapons. It's a flamethrower. Uses some type of gas fuel and an ignition. Pretty basic.

I don't care what people say about thermal clips they still act like bullets I totally agree with Verner it's a stupid idea.
I don't have a problem with them (I have an FPS background) but as ME1's system was more unique and gave a better reason to switch weapons I would prefer that too. BUT the prothean particle rifle is is MP now so you can use that.
