Is it just me or since the EC was released we've been discussing the literal sense of the ending more often than the IT interpretation?

That makes sense though. Besides, we all know about the IT interpretation.

Why? Is it because the EC expanded ending makes more sense than the original? Or has people's belief in IT weakened?

Well, it expands upon why they make no sense, so we can figure out why they make no sense and talk about that. That helps IT. It also makes sense because they're new material, and we haven't had as much time to go through them as the original endings.

No. it is because there is nothing really new with the IT interpretation and we have already discussed it a lot. EC on the other hand provided some new info for the literal interpretation (still doesn't make much sense, but more data availible) - so now we're having a go at it.

LOL. You're right. It's been only 2 weeks since the EC was released.

Man I can't tell if the thread was slow before I got here, but it always seems to slow down as soon as I show up. Posted Image

My brain seems to be almost in standby mode until Saturday, after the Mass effect panel news comes out.

Hey guys, do you know a thread that explains whether defeating the Reapers is possible through conventional and/or unconventional means.

Well it's a start. Mean time I can try to get the Particle rifle in MP and/or stockpile credits for the new DLC.

I don't know of one, but the answer is quite obvious. The reapers are not gods, they can be defeated conventionally.

definately not. its stated several times throughout the series that the reapers cannot be defeated conventionally, and in every reaper engagement we see, the organic forces get crushed. remember the casualty report from the FOB? it was like that everywhere, and that was with a united galaxy

I'm thinking of making a part 3 to my "Indoctrination Theory- ME3 Extended Cut DLC Analysis" vid series. I want to include whether it's possible to defeat the Reapers in some way, other than just using the Crucible or going head to head suicidal battles.
My vids are doing very nice. Didn't expect to get even a 1,000 views in such a short time.
I heard Julian of CleverNoob was going to do an analysis as well.

Okay. Synthesis and Control seems to have tech/machine like soundtrack. Interesting...  Control also seems pretty menacing.

Control -

Synthesis -

Those 2 are cool. Someone stated though that they are inconsistent with the messages presented during those endings.

I mentioned this. I don't believe at all that the songs are consistant with the message of control and synthesis. BUT, the message of renegade control is partly consistant with the song because it sounded like Shepard was vying for power. This would make my previous theory about Harbinger being like Shep (trying to save the galaxy) and eventually losing himself in the power of the reapers and therefore wiping out life every 50,000 years.

Also, about losing your gun in the endings. I looked over the Rejection ending just now and saw the gun in Shepard's hand if you SHOT the kid. I didn't notice one if you rejected through chat options though.

Actually, going back to this I forgot to mention that you shoot the Catalyst with the CARNIFEX. We talked about earlier how the Carnifex is used for negative things. It could be negative because Shepard is condemning the entire galaxy to death?

Thoughts?

No. They can be defeated conventionally. Period. By our forces? Probably not, but the reapers are just more advanced versions of our ships, and our ships can be defeated conventionally. (Some extragalactic species would probably be more advanced that the reapers and therefore could defeat them conventionally.)
Could we do it with the assets we have currently? No. But that's why many people believe that future DLC (starting with Leviathan) may be able to add enough assets to win in a rejection ending.

A lot of people (including myself) got that impression that the Reapers are godlike beings, especially by Sovereign's conversation on Virmire. We can see clearly in ME3 that this is not true.

And we cannot take everything the Reapers talk as truth, like Sovereign's famous quote "We have nor beggining nor ending". They clearly have a beggining. Perhaps the Reapers that were not created by the "Creators" think that way, I don't if by self conclusion or by instruction from the "original" Reapers (I can be wrong, but I think Harbinger was not the only Reaper of the first cycle)

It's probably negative because Bioware doesn't approve our defiance against their "artistic vision".Posted Image Makes me want to Posted Image.
