I like it. Think most of us can at least agree Bioware is up to something with all that marvelous DLC planned.

Have I missed any announcements?

Leviathan will be announced over the next 48 hours.

I fear leviathan will continue the mass reaper retcon that happened at the end of (face-value) 3.

I'm vaguely insulted.

My avatar looks only vaguely like me.

I made an effort to make him resemble the Cousland line, I made a distinct effort to make him look like the sort of person who could be related to Fergus, Bryce and Elanora.

I personally look more like this (two years ago at least)

Did anyone ever discuss Freud and IT? I see a lot of similarities between the encounter with TIM, Anderson and the Freudian trio (ID, Superego, Ego). Being that IT states that it's all happening in Shepard's mind/brain there are a lot of hints. The superego is usually stated as the "father figure." I think it's safe to say that (at least for my Shepard, the orphan) that Anderson is in a lot of ways a father figure to Shepard. The superego is also supposed to be the conscience, to the very end Anderson was all about one thing: stopping the reapers at all cost.

TIM would make sense as the ID, the driving force driven by desires, in this case the desire to control, "I only wanted to protect humanity." There is also the death instinct...the task of which is to lead organic life back into the inanimate state" in which case no matter what dialogue options you choose TIM dies, or he kills Anderson, kills Shepard and all parts of his mind including TIM (ID) die.

Shepard would obviously represent the ego. The part that tries to reconcile the two, but fails.

Tl;Dr Reapers take over Shepards ID, Shepard-TIM-Anderson meeting is a representation of Shepard different parts of his mind battling it out.

EDIT: the reason I also mention this is Freudian Trio is a popular tool still used by writers-

http://tvtropes.org/...in/FreudianTrio

I did, actually. And I came to similar conclusions.

And I would argue the Superego is more personifiable as the "Moral Compass" than the father figure, though of course a father figure CAN be a moral compass, such as with Anderson.

Shepard is also the Ego in the sense that he (IE us) is the "concious" mind, the part we bear control over, the most prevalent and obvious aspect of the personality.

Many of you have probably seen this, but Arian Dynas recommended I put it here also.

It's my new theory I've formed based on information gathered between now and when the EC was released.

This theory is born out of Shepard's marvelous speech about freedom and the right to choose our own fate. And also the Catalyst's puberty taking it's toll when it says "so be it."

The reason being because after such an awesome speech and the catalyst's line, the game just pauses for a bit focusing on Shepard, like something is meant to happen, right around the point the Catalyst says "the cycle continues" with the camera zoomed back. Then the game just kind of drops it on your head that you lost (via Liara's time capsule).

Wouldn't it be cool, if these base 3 endings were because we didn't have all the pieces to the puzzle yet. And so dlc, Omega, Leviathan, other?... adds to it and helps shape better endings.

When I say better, I mean "more win."

We already have the fourth one, which could be acting as a vent for the next one.

So for example..

-|D|-|C|-|S|-
------|---/---
--|Refuse|--
-----/--------
---|S|-|F|---

Success and Fail.
We've already received the fail one being Liara's time capsule. This could be subjugated to just a really low EMS refuse ending cut off line. Then every ending above this line is formed into a single ending (still based on EMS : Success rate) that varies in many different choices from across the three games.

Because Mass Effect is meant to be all about roleplaying and choices. The base endings we got are still endings. What I mean is, because people play their Shepard's differently, they might want a playthrough to compromise with the Catalyst and become a Reaper, Change the galaxy, or if they don't care about the Geth, get a decent ending in itself. Which would be the genius thing as well, because it allows them to see what we'd pick with our canon playthrough, had we only had those options. Then also because it has less to do with the lore and people that didn't play ME1&2 before 3 aren't missing out on things. For instance, our choices from previous games.

This theory also disproves people that complain they sold a game without an ending. Because we did receive "some" of them.

Basically, if this dlc theory holds weight, we could still get astounding endings where we can 'win'.

This theory also assumes they left the Leviathan leaks in the EC on purpose to give us something to hold onto, give us faith something is coming. Because with all the media/consumer outrage that's been going on, to do this by accident would be very slack and lazy, hence a testament to why fans are upset in the first place.

Personal: If this theory is true, and it affects the refuse ending, then it could still be an astounding ending. If not, then I think it's safe to say these endings are permanent. And only then can I have closure.

This idea also dabbles into "speculation" quotes from BioWare, why seek speculation if there's nothing to speculate for? And also the whole thing about closure, and not being able to receive any until we know (for certain) how to view these endings.

ALSO, if there's anything that has been discussed in IT that can relate to this, It would be very welcomed =)

What do you think?

Let the ****storm begin.

Ive also had a similar theory in wich most dlc will lead up into a new ending.

Yes but, being compared to Matthew "That's Alot of Fish" Broderick, the most boring and uninteresting human being to ever walk this planet is an insult in several cultures. This being one of them.

The only film with him in I like is The Lion King, and you don't have to see his gormless face in that.

EDIT: Oh wait, The Cable Guy too, but that was a Jim Carrey vehicle.

User ratings on metacritic? Half of them are trolling haters, the other half are people who call hotlines because they want to complain about the hotline.

Mostly the same people who 1star games on amazon because of ANYTHING.

@Jade8aby88 - I really hope you're right about this. It would seem to be supported by the additional conversation between Shepard and the Catalyst about Harbinger in the leaked script. And it would enable me to play and enjoy this flipping game again! Seriously I've now spent more time b**ching about it on the forums than actually playing it!

I really don't see how they can integrate the Leviathan plot without it affecting the ending. If you can do this mission at anytime in the game, Shepard could learn about the catalyst turning on its creators before even going to Thessia.

@Arian - Regarding your dlc theory - do you still think Bioware will hold their nerve, and leave the big reveal to the end of the dlc cycle? Or will they try to quell the negative feedback around the endings by releasing it sooner, and then leave ancilliary stuff like retake Omega until later?
