What she said was that the Reaper IFF was basically a bunch of constantly evolving algorithms, and I'm fairly certain she said that the Reaper IFF doesnt work by just transmitting a friend/foe signal, but by simulating a Reaper intelligence or something like that, and that she has to constantly monitor the evolving algorithms so that the Reapers will be fooled into thinking the Normandy is a Reaper.

So with that said, the evac. scene actually makes sense...?

Nah.  The IFF would only work at long range, Reapers can clearly see things in the visual spectrum.  Not to mention it would mean the Normandy would never get chased and destroyed during scanning missions.

That's what I thought. If you scan couple times, they can pin-point the Normandy.

Yeah, its more a signal to confuse Reapers and get them to not come investigate the Normandy's arrival in a system.  When all the scanning goes off, the Reapers pick up that something isn't right and so come investigate - and instead of finding a Reaper they see a human vessel - so they chase it and destroy it.

Nope.  I don't even have to read any more, because you haven't got a clue what you're even talking about now.

They also noted that eventually Reapers will see through salarian defences, so I guess, EDI just does it better.

Also, do Reapers have eyes?

I don't know why, but it's some fresh wind when you show up.

I'm not fighting nor am I trolling, not anymore. In case you didn't notice, I haven't made any snide remarks or offensive labeling for a while now. I'm actually just having a regular discussion right now.

Be glad I'm here. A protagonist is not very interesting without an antagonist, right? So think of your precious IT as the protagonist and me as the antagonist. ;)

Anyway, you get the point I hope. We're all speculating here, but from all the speculation I am the one who's grasping at straws THE LEAST. I accept the endings for what they are and what they show. I do not seek anything more than what we got behind it and wheverer we find plotholes I just use the most likely true assumption: BioWare's writers are not that good. This assumption is of course based on the many plotholes and mediocre story quality of the entire ME3 game and parts of ME2 that weren't so good either, so it's not an entirely baseless assumption.

I push the taste-button (again). For me, the whole trilogy consumed me. I never felt more related to any game, except Mass Effect.
Emotional attached? No game made it possible for me, but ME did.
And so I think that the writers aren't that bad. If I remember good enough, they paid much detail to every game. Things I wouldn't care about as a writer, they got cared about.

Edit:

So, how is my sign offensive to you?

Why should it not be offensive to me?

Because it's just a silly blue banner based on a Mass Effect ending?

No but in all seriousness (super serious this time, not trolling), why do you think control and synthesis banners are offensive?

Interesting. What is your definition of silly? I'm curious as to how it applies in this context. Please elaborate.

You first. I asked you a question first, twice. I already answered your previou question, it's only polite if you answer my questions now.

I'm not quite sure how you would come to that conclusion. Can you lay it out for me?

I asked you how control and synthesis signs offend you. You didn't answer but instead asked a question in return. I asked you the same question again, and again you avoided answering it and gave me a question back instead.

So, once more: Why and how do control and synthesis signatures offend you?

You don't have to agree with it, but this should explain to you as clear as day why I personally never liked control or synthesis (warning long video). I'm too lazy to explain it in writing. Video is found here.

Here is my answer... are you not entertained?!

Not liking something is one thing, but being actually offended by someone's signature is something else. You're not saying that you too are offended by my Control signature, are you?

Edit: Your link doesn't work (the first link). I'd like to watch your video, but you have to fix the link for me first. :)

I was listening to starkid again, and i heard something weird and it is faint but distinct.

When he says "the paths are open but you have to choose"you can faintly hear a reaper voice when he says choose, its kind of an echo so it's after he says it.Or it may be nothing but it just sounded strange to me.

I listened to that part just now. There is an echo of someone else saying "choose" after stakid says it. It does not sound like a reaper to me but it DEFINITELY does not sound like femshep or broshep.

Mass Effect has been an emotional rollercoaster, no doubt. One thing that Mass Effect does excellent is the music, visuals and dialogue. Even ME3 does this very well, which makes it every emotionally engaging. Even I had to shed a manly tear during Thane's deathbed scene.

But I see it as a soap opera. Soap series on TV (Bold and The Beautiful for example) are often emotionally engaging, with interesting characters and a lot of drama, but the plot? The plot just sucks, you can't deny that. I have yet to see a single soap series with an actual good plot.

I see ME2 and ME3 as soap operas; emotionally engaging, with interesting characters and a lot of drama, but the plot is just pure crap.

And so I think that the writers aren't that bad. If I remember good enough, they paid much detail to every game. Things I wouldn't care about as a writer, they got cared about.

Well they obviously did not pay enough attention to detail to prevent some very big, annoying and glaring plotholes. I could point those plotholes out for you, but it would be an extremely long post and I don't think this is the right thread for it. I already made a list with everything that is wrong with ME2 and ME3, If you wish I can link you that post if I can find it back.

I kinda welcome that.

I'm surprised. You seem to be the only one who thinks that way.

Well the first time i noticed it, i did think of harbinger. maybe there's distinct words that the catalyst says that may have a reaper echo.

Agreed. But the literalist in question is not what you'd call a benefit to the conversation.

Speaking of which, somebody should make an alternate version of that "wisdom" banner. Something like "There is weakness in falling for your enemy's propaganda."

I guess byne shares my view of that.
If people keep it civil, they could discuss whatever they want. A civil discussion is productive both ways, instead of brainless insulting.
So far (except for the beginng between Coolio and you), I don't experience any vulgarity/rudeness between you and an ITer here.
Maybe a little heaty discussion. Passionate, but not insulting.

As I said, a civil discussion is productive. Either way.
