Come on, if we dont have literalists in here, then its just going to be a bunch of us confirming how awesome we all are, and long stretches of silence as we dont discuss anything.

Agreed. But the literalist in question is not what you'd call a benefit to the conversation.

I would like it if you guys would stop calling me a literalist. I also stopped calling you guys cultists long ago, so yeah.

Not that I feel offended. I just don't think the term "literalist" is appropiate when it comes to the Mass Effect 3 ending and how I choose to interpretate it.

I'd rather call myself a pragmaticist. I'm very pragmatic when it comes to trying to make sense of the ME3 endings. I usually try to find the shortest and easiest explanation that relies on the least assumptions.

The term literalist isn't an insult. It just refers to someone who takes the endings at face value; what you saw is what you got, even if you think the star kid is lying to you or manipulating you.

Wait, when does the SDCC panel begin? Is it in 12 minutes or 72?

I think there are four groups of ME fans:

Literalists: "Sounds good!" (Conan reference)

Bad Writing Theorists: "**** happens dude"

IT Optimists: "OP will surely deliver, don't hate speculate! Post ending dlc will be magical! Casey Hudson will come down from the clouds riding a unicorn delivering presents to all the good little boys and girls! Click your red shoes and believe!"

IT Pessimists: "IT is probably true, but don't hold your breathe for massive post ending DLC" (I probably fall into this camp)

You don't have to be a theorist to see that Mass Effect's writing just isn't that good. It's quite obvious.

You might disagree and think Mass Effect's writing is brilliant, sure, it just means your bar is set lower than mine. You're easier satisfied than I am.

Most Mass Effect fans play Mass Effect for the characters, the universe and the emotional rollercoaster that the series provide. They do not care much for the plot nor do they care for (whay they precieve as) "tiny" plotholes. If you are one of those people, that's perfectly fine, more power to you!

I on the other hand, do care about the story and plot coherence. I do care for a solid plot without plot holes. ME2 and ME3 simply did not deliver in that department.

ME1 was amazing! Not perfect, but still amazing. The atmosphere was good, the story was good, the characters were interesting and the universe showed a lot of potential! The only thing that got significantly better over the course of ME2 and ME3 are the characters. The story became worse, the atmosphere less coherend and less interesting, and the potential of the universe was wasted during ME2 and ME3.

Step 1. Give community goal where only full extraction counts and only against enemies with a buggy-as-hell sync kill.
Step 2. ???
Step 3. Trollolololol

They specified full extraction on any difficulty or just extraction period? Did not see that part in the blog but prob missed it. Oh well only one of my games ended with partial the past 2 days. Hopefully the rest of the SF are fairing better.

Uh, I don't think you HAVE to reach full extraction.  Based on how I read it, it looked to me like you only had to reach extraction with SOMEONE still alive.

Partial counts for the personal goal in gold.  Only full counts for the community goal of however the hell many it has to be for the medigel increase.  Granted, you could play bronze and meet it but not if you like getting credits.

From the live chat:

"The logic is super complicated. It toggles your EMS rating, who lives who dies, your paragon or renegade rating, and many other aspects"

Yeah right. As a programmer myself I can say that this bull****. The logic is not super complicated and it's easily done. things like EMS, whole lives and who dies and your paragon/renegade rating are all stored in variables. All the Extended Cut does is look at those variables and mix-and-match the epilogue cutscene and slides with those variables. I could code that in not more than a couple of days, perhaps even in a couple of hours, depending on how many variables I'd have to work with.

I think it was where you had to fight Reaper-Rachni on Tuchanka.

Edit: top of the page AGAIN.
