Just out of curiosity: what message and bench are you talking about?Lokanaiya wrote...
@Paxxton
It's certainly possible, although I have a hard time believing the ENTIRE game is a dream, mostly because that's a lot for Shepard to imagine, and, personally, I don't want the Tuchanka and Rannoch missions to not be real. But certain things, like the last Datapad message and the disappearing bench, do point towards something being up.
And my theory was actually going to suggest that Shepard was knocked out right after destroying the Hades Cannon, which is why Anderson's shuttle shows up out of nowhere and it explains the weirdness at the FOB, because if it was just heavy hallucination, you'd think that somebody would come and ask Shepard why he was acting so weird.

As for the bench, whenever the Reapers appear and blow out the windows in the beginning, you get thrown against a random bench, roll off of it, and briefly pass out. When Anderson gets you up again, the bench is no longer there. Another interesting thing, the bench also appears in your first dream for no apparent reason.

I meant the literal interpretation of the ending. I thought it was pretty clear...
Guess it wasn't.
And it's also pretty clear the is what the IT crowd means here. Only the ending.
Nonetheless it is a complete bastardisation of the term. It is a bit like saying that all people who don't think the ending was IT are ****s, that would be a completely inaccurate term for those people even if the IT community stubbornly refuses to use another description.

So, you do need an App or somethink like that to receive the message, don't you? And do you get this message after each ending or just after picking DESTROY?Lokanaiya wrote...
Riot, you get the last Datapad message after you beat the game, I think. It's from your LI and basically says "Hope you're doing well, they say I might get to see you soon." Of course, it's been a while, so I might be remembering this wrong. [...]

I have watched the beginning so many times and always thought Shepard was thrown against a (cushioned) couch, thus explaining why he didn't broke his back from such an impact.
But you're right, that is actually a wooden bench. And in fact the same one that is found in the dream. Albeit I'm not sure if it really disappears after Anderson shows up. I think we just don't see it because of the camera's position. Maybe someone with flycam can check this out
But to be honest, I don't know what to make of this. It is really strange that this very bench appears in your dream. I doubt it was put there without a reason. Is Shepard knocked out after being thrown against the bench and the game is all just an illusion? I hope not...
But the surrounding actually does fit the breath scene. At least a lot more than the Citadel does. And it would explain, why the solution to "Priority: Tuchanka" was so similar to the one in "Dossier: the Professor" - spreading a cure made by Mordin by using an Environmental Control Facility. Really, I just recruited Mordin yesterday in my FemShep Renegade playthrough and I was stunned how similar the ending of his dossier mission was to the Tuchanka part in ME 3

I believe we are saying literalists are people who believe what happened in the game actually happened.
The dreams were Shepards' dreams...they actually happened...lol u mad

I agree, and already mentioned that on another thread. Provided the fact that IT is based on the assumption that "the endings are opened to interpretation, and all speculation can have equal value", saying that players who don't go with IT are taking the endings "literally" meaning "not interpreting" is based on a false premise.SubAstris wrote...

As I said I wouldn't like it if he was dreaming all along, so I'm happy that this is highly unlikely due to the lack of armor you pointed out

So, did anything interesting happen at the SDCC panel, as in, did people actually ask about the endings?
Edit: Also, anyone up for some reaper gold matches?

There is nothing strange with that. Dreams are made of mixed parts of memories, we can fly in dreams, we have almost no control at all over the events, we see random places, etc. The same goes for "creativity" : we do not "invent from scratch", we mostly take bits and pieces of everything we know and put them together in a new fashion we call "creation".Riot86 wrote...

Slow down there, we don't know whether they were screened. And there were two questions that were relevant to our little endevour:
What's the deal with the kid we see throughout the whole game?
-"- with the breath scene?
Both answers were unsatisfactory and brought nothing new.

I agree with this, wholeheartedly.
There are other figurative, metaphysical ways of interpreting elements in the game, especially the ending, and that doesn't negate the possibility of indoctrination as an interpretation, either.

Remember that Shepard's mind doesn't have to make all those things up. The Reapers can feed it with imaginary scenes so that the mind is fooled into believing they are real. Shepard's body can even be plugged into some sort of neural stimulator. It could happen when Shepard lost his consciousness. For the player it looked like a few seconds but maybe it took hours and the Reapers brought machines to imprison Shepard.Lokanaiya wrote...

Either Bioware are terrible at answering questions or understand the ending as much as we do.
